Maggiano's - Durham Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed, went for my husbands birthday and did the family style menu, it took entirely too long, had to wait at least 30 minutes before and in between each course, no flow what so ever and they were not that busy. When it was all said and done we were there about 2 1/2 hours which in my opinion is not acceptable. The manager was very nice when we expressed our complaints and sent over cookies and 25% off but unfortunately we will not be going back due to just how long it took.
Good food at reasonable prices (esp. if you opt for the dinner for two). This is a regular date-night spot for my significant other and I. The servers are attentive and quick. Would highly recommend this both for a casual night out or a special event- please be aware that it may be hard to get a table if you walk in, so I would suggest reserving a spot ahead of time.
Horrible experience. Waited for a table for 50 minutes WITH a reservation. The manager told us that their customers expect a long wait, and that there was no way Maggiano's could guarantee reservations. Blamed Open Table for accepting a reservation.
I was laughed at by the hostess. My teenage son was told he had an "attitude" by the manager. Horrible, horrible experience for mediocre food.
I will not be back!!
Food was and is always delicious as well as the server, Kim. My daughter liked her a lot. I ordered a Bloody Mary because it was still brunch hours for the $5 price. It was not good at all. I chocked it up bc it was only $5, but will not order one again. Highly recommend!
We had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time for a booth (which we had specified when we made the reservation). The service and help at the bar while we waited was excellent but with 2 restless young children, it was trying to say the least. After we were seated, the manager came to the table and was very gracious and apologetic - she comped our appetizers which was very nice. Our server, however, was over-stretched in handling her station of large gatherings. We seldom saw her and then she was rushed. We ordered two large salads as entrees and the best that can be said about them is that they were more like salad "soup" than crisp, nice salads. They were literally drenched in dressing. We would have sent them back but the time to wait for the server was so long that we gave up on that.
We have eaten at Maggiano's a number of times and picked it for the birthday celebration because everyone likes the atmosphere, the food and the service in the past has been excellent. We drove from Holly Springs for this event, so there were lots of other choices we could have made. We had previously enjoyed Maggiano's, so we selected it. We were disappointed but we will try it one more time in hopes that this was a one-time problem
I've been to many Maggiano's and this one is managed very well so you can expect a consistently positive experience here. An experience that features good food, plenty of it and a pleasant staff. Always a nice time. Expect an active environment that's fairly tight but laid out nicely. I will return.
We Love Maggiano's! The hostess seated us upstairs for our little party of two. Date night was a little quieter up in the loft dining space. Had we been seated on the first level, which for a Saturday, was as expected, very busy seating areas, energetic with conversation, and wait staff bustling about. It was a nice unexpected treat to be seated upstairs. Also, the wait service was great, our server was quick to bring warm bread, filled drinks and water readily, and our food came very quickly after ordering. We were in and out of the restaurant in under an hour. This made for a short dinner date, but it was nice to move about the restaurant while the crowd gathered in the lobby and bar seating area. Thank you to Maggiano's for a nice evening out.
Overall experience was good. Service was great--attentive, but not overbearing. Server was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. Food was universally good, but none of the dishes were specifically noteworthy. If our group were to return, and we would, I think we would all try something different from the menu. I felt the prices were somewhat high for the individual entrees. Portion size and quality was fine.
We went to Maggiano's for a family birthday dinner. We had a round table away from most guests which was great for conversation and celebration. Our server was knowledgeable , friendly and overall excellent. The food came out hot and precisely how we ordered it. This could not have been a more pleasant evening. We will definitely return.
We had a 5:45 reservation for 4. Got there half hour early. After spending $60 in bar got in line to check in. Party in front of us were friend with waiter...no reservation. He told them right in front of me don't worry I'll seat yall immediately...Should have been more discreet! When checked in they told me I'd be on waiting list of reservations. Wish I'd know that half an hour and $60 bucks ago. Was seated in five minutes though. Did Family Style.... Salmon was watery and lacked favor. Spaghetti, my favorite was bland. Everything else was pretty good. I spent $170 with tip when all said and done. Table probably in the $350 range all together......Not my best experience at that price point. I'll go back though, I like it there and usually good food.
We had an OpenTable 5:30 reservation and arrived at 5:15, but we were made to wait 25 minutes. We sat at 5:40.
Really? A business should never set an expectation they can't meet, unless you're Olive Garden. Or, the now defunct Chi Chi's.
As I scanned the menu, I noticed Chicken and Waffles: $19.95. I thought to myself, "I just ate at Mandolin this week, and the same dish was $19. Mandolin is fine dining with white table cloths; Maggiano's has the same red checkered tablecloths like an all-you-can-eat Cici's Pizza.
The white napkins left lint on our clothing--no offer of a black napkin. This is not fine dining; this is the Red Lobster experience. A bad Red Lobster. Except Red Lobster gives everyone black napkins.
The bread in the bread basket got cold fast because it was put on a paper cocktail napkin in a wire basket. They should have used doubled cloth napkins in perhaps a premium ceramic basket. The bread tasted like an average sliced and nuked packaged bread. The only saving grace was oil and grated cheese. The cheese quality was one step above Kraft.
A guy other than our server brought out our meals. He didnt know who ordered what. There are only two of us dining, a M & F. This should have been a slam dunk to get right. He did not serve from the left or even right; he reached across our table. He must have trained at Waffle House where cooks expertly reach across the counter to drop your food off from 5-6 inches by tilting the plate so one edge breaks the fall. I'm always impressed that the Waffle House cook can demonstrate a clever 1/4 spin that culminates in a small rattle as your plate settles. Same at Maggianos.
The cook was very chincy with the Vodka sauce on a "Signature Pasta Dish" I think Signature means better meats or something. There was about 2 tablespoons of sauce, and the presentation was bland.
Maggianos should be avoided. The food is below average, the service is way below average, and the atmosphere is Cici's with mahogany stained walls.
