Maggiano's - Denver South Ratings and Reviews
We went to Maggiano’s for our Thanksgiving dinner this year. While the food was still quite good, I felt that our servers were rushing us out the door (which was weird because the dining room was emptying out—it’s not like they needed our table). We were there for a little over an hour and a half, which doesn’t seem too long for a four course Thanksgiving dinner. They just kept trying to push us out the door, to the point of starting to box up our leftovers while we were still eating. It was definitely not as pleasant an experience this year as it was last year. We’ll probably go back, but if I happens next year, I’ll just cook at home.
It was Thanksgiving dinner for 9 , and it would have been nice to know we could expect more food after original serving, 1 platter turkey, 1 platter ham, very small bowl of potatoes and spinach. After we finished the pasta, the server asked if we wanted more meat, pasta, to which everyone said YES!
We all took very small portions considering the original offering.
We visited Maggiano's to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with our family. We were a little worried about how the kids would feel about changing our traditional Thanksgiving day but it turned out to be an amazing day and experience for all. Each one said that they would like to do it again! The food was served family style so there was plenty to go around - including leftovers to take home - and there were choices on the menu that pleased everyone. Our waitress was fantastic and very attentive. Kudos to her for a job well done considering the number of large tables and hectic environment of working on a holiday. We have nothing but praise and positive feedback.
We love Maggiano's and go about 3-4 x a year. The food is really good. The service this time was way too slow. I do not believe it was the fault of the staff. I think there was not enough staff to keep up. We got the oil for the bread at the beginning but had to ask for the bread. We had to ask for the wine we ordered, we were eating our starter and no wine. We waited a very long time between the starter and the dinner. Service was verrry slow that night. Just the 2 of us and nothing complicated. Over 2 hours that night, a lot of waiting! Very disappointing.
We took our daughter out for her 25th birthday dinner. The decorations were great. It is a beautiful place. My daughter had the shrimp scampi, wife had a small portion of filet with rice, and I had the Chicken Marsala. None of our dishes looked appealing. The Marsala tasted like the sauce was made of pancake syrup with no great pasta choices. Wife ate the small portion of filet and left tge rest as it didnt look or taste appealing. My daughter was gracious about the shrimp scampi which looked like shrimp in watery sauce. 2e reserved ahead and let them know it was a special occassion abd that we wanted a piece of cake for her, they brought her 5 cookies. Never again. Get a different Chef, keep the beautiful place. Cheers.
Great food, but don't expect much conversation when the place is full -- the tables are REALLY packed in, and the volume level on a Saturday night rivals that of a high school football game!
Service is very good, but again -- when they are full, it will be a bit slower.
We've been here many times before, we will definitely return. Just be ready for the tight quarters and volume...and great food, of course!
We enjoy the restaurant, and the atmosphere. We made reservations, and had a nice booth near a wall for a quieter experience. This is also because my hearing is not good, and it can be difficult to have a conversation when there is a lot of background conversations.
In this experience, not long after we were seated, 2 other families with children sat at the 2 tables next to ours. We were soon hearing kids talking loud, sometimes shrieking, and it made our experience a bit less romantic, and less relaxed.
Overall, we enjoyed our evening. Thank you.
I tried the chicken piccata lighter version. It was very good but I’m not sure why it’s the same price as the regular size? The house salad and Caesar salads were delicious and well sized. I love the menu with the extra meal to take home! Our server was attentive until the end when we had to wait an extremely long time to get our check. We were celebrating a birthday so our server brought us some complimentary wonderful lemon cookies. The only reason I’m reluctant to go back is because of the noisy atmosphere. We have to yell at each other in order to be heard.
Met with friends we hadn’t seen in a long time and spent over 3 hrs there. No one rushed us or made us feel uncomfortable. Our server Phil was terrific and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend the fettuccine de mare with light garlic sauce. Tremendous value.
We were there very early for dinner and there were only a few other tables with people. Our waitress took a long time to bring drinks and take our order, and she was rude until she brought the check (no doubt in hopes of improving her tip). I have never had an experience like that at maggianos. We asked another waitress for butter and she seemed really offended that we had stopped her. Then we had asked for extra sauce since the dish was a little dry and our waitress acted like she was personally offended. For having so few customers at the time, they all acted like we were a bother. In addition, it took 30 minutes to get our food after placing the order which the waidress said was due to the changing shift at 4pm. (We didn't get there until 430).
Last time we went to a Maggianos, we were having a family get together and were seated around a big round table that made it easy for everyone to see and be engaged in a group conversation. It was a great experience.
This time we were crammed in a dining room with too many tables and other people too close together. We were sitting around a rectangular table that wasn't meant to seat all 11 of us. (Note: I had made the reservation well in advance.) The waiter was entertaining and did his best. I had brought a cake to the restaurant earlier in the day after someone from the restaurant let me know last minute that this was ok to do this for my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. The waiter wasn't told this so it was a good thing I mentioned to him.
Overall, I will now need to think twice about having another family get together at Maggianos.
