Maggiano's - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
This time it was a four stars instead of a five which is the rating we've given the brunch menu at Maggiano's in the past.
It was the food and preparation. The poached eggs came out overcooked and the ricotta pancakes came out without the berries and whipped cream and the bacon side order never showed.
In defense of the server, he did bring out two new poached eggs but the bacon never arrived.
We'll still return.
We had brunch and it was excellent. We all had different versions of the eggs Benedict and we all thought each was excellent. It was very reasonably priced. The service could have been a little better because the restaurant wasn't crowded. It took a while to get our food. Worth going to for brunch. Normally at 11:00 am it isn't easy to get into a restaurant on Sunday at 11:00 am but we have been there twice now and there was no wait.
The service was terrible. One of our guest’s order was completely wrong as was her cocktail. They sat our group of 7 at a circle table that was too small for us even though we had reservations, and we were cramped and partially in the walking aisle and kept getting hit by passerbys. Then my salad didn’t come out until after all our food arrived and the food arrived very suddenly and abruptly and too soon. Everything was out of order and wrong. Portions are ginormous. Food is average. Bread is plain and tasteless.
We arrived early for dinner so we could make it to the Bulls game right after. It was early enough where we were the only table in the entire restaurant. The staff was great and the food what you come to expect from Maggiano's. Valet parking was very convenient.
My boyfriend and I had never been here before and didn't really have interest previously. We aren't very fond of eating at chain restaurants, especially when we live in the middle of downtown Chicago. However, we received a gift card over the holidays and decided to give it a try. Our server was wonderful! Full of energy and very knowledgeable. The food was EXCELLENT! We both ordered classic pastas with a different pasta to take home. Four different pastas total and we loved each of them. Will definitely be back!
Manager on duty was very kind. However when it came to our meal they were definitely understaffed and it took a long time for our meal. They did not offer our guest soft drinks they were not prompt to refill the appetizers. They did not offer coffee with our desserts.
I went here for my birthday and they was polite. I would go again. The location and view was nice. I got an complimentary stuff mushroom for being my birthday. If you want a quiet and cozy dinner with friendly staff i would recommend this place. The price is affordable.
Maggiano's has been our go to restaurant for our anniversaries, birthdays, and brunches. Even though there was an issue with my meal, the chef came out personally to speak to me and offer an appetizer while I waited for a new dish to be prepared. The whole staff is remarkable gracious.
We were here for dinner on New Year's Eve and had an 8:15 reservation. We were seated more than 20 minutes late, we had a rotating cast of servers, and the food that ended up on our table was rarely placed in front of the person who ordered it, and we were given almost no explanation of what each dish was when it arrived. Several of the assistants who brought the food out literally told us that they didn't know which dish was which. The manager ultimately did comp our appetizers, but then at the end the staff forgot to bring us our take-out pasta orders. We didn't feel like complaining and waiting any longer, so we ended up just paying the bill and leaving.
I understand the stresses of running a restaurant on a busy holiday night, but still feel that the service was far below par. On a positive note, the food was quite good.
Maggiano’s, especially this location (on Clark) has always been my go to and one of my favorite places to dine since living in Chicago. I love the environment, location and atmosphere. My family has been going there for years. Unfortunately the last couple times really weren’t holding up to my expectations. I decided to have New Year’s eve dinner there and made reservations through this app which worked out awesome. Great experience with Open Table so i hope this review does not negate the positive experience i had with the Open Table app. The hostess was simply amazing, we had a member of our group on crutches and he was extremely accommodating and so personable. Ten stars for him. However our waiter was a different story. The service started off great until we passed on ordering salads or appetizers and just ordered cocktails and entrees. The waiter’s interest in our table seemed to go out the window when we did not order an appetizers, must have thought we were going to be a cheap table. Between the martinis and glasses of wine and four entrees, it wasn’t exactly cheap. However, had to flag him down to order another round of cocktails bc he did not visit our table after our food was served which was not even served by him. After three out of the four people finished eating he came and cleared dishes, taking my sisters away who was still eating without asking if she was done. After clearing the dishes the check was brought to us and placed in the middle of the table, thank god we weren’t interested in dessert or coffee because we weren’t even asked. Now i understand it was a busy night, but that is no excuse. To be honest i would have loved to look at he dessert menu or enjoy a nice cup of coffee but like i said we weren’t given the option. This waiter had no desire to provide a unique or even an acceptable experience for us, which was too bad. It is because of him that we probably won’t be trusting Maggiano’s anymore as a go to great dining experience.
I love going to your restaurant. This was the first time I ate family style. Everything was great except for the table. It was some what un even. And with that much food you need more space to. We were afraid we were going to drop a dish. But other then that evearthing was great!!!!
We were seated right away although they were on a wait. Amazing service! The chef came out to consult with one of my friends about a dietary allergy which has never happened to him before so we all were quite impressed. The food was great! The portions were very large, not one of us could finish the portion. There were 8 of us and every single person raved about their dish! I would definitely be back and recommend this place to any and everyone!
We were staying at the Hyatt across the street and were amazed we were able to get last minute reservations for our group of 6 for dinner. We were celebrating an anniversary and a birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the Pesto Perlini, it was incredible. We would definitely return the next time we're in Chicago.
We come here whenever we are downtown. Food and wine always great. We take our older grandsons here every New Years for the past 8 years. Corner booth. We spend 2 hours and have a great time. Everyone should put Maggianos Chicago on their must Pasta and wine list. 5 stars excellent
I always enjoy Maggianos but with this specific location I never understand the hosts. When you check in they are always on the phone and never acknowledge you. Once you do get their attention and check in it is always a guessing game of what happens next. Even with a reservation they always say they are preparing your table. When you eventually do walk in and notice the entire restaurant is empty, you only question what they are doing and what they are saying into their ear pisces. We frequent this restaurant and are always amazed at the lack of efficiency of seating. Other than that the food is great.
