Maggiano's - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
We were sat nearly 20 minutes after our reservation time. It then took over an hour for us to get our food. When we did get it, the majority of it was cold and dry as if it had been sitting under heat lamps while the chef remade one dish he wasn’t happy with. The meat on the dish that needed to be redone was extremely over cooked. We were shorted one of our take-home meals and waited so long for them to bring it out we ended up just leaving without it. Very disappointing experience, we won’t be back to this location.
Made a reservation. Waited about 15 minutes beyond scheduled time to be seated ... no big deal. When we were called up the fellow that seated us said that he accidentally seated someone else in our place ... wait a couple minutes. Again no big deal except that we ended up being seated right next to busy kitchen entrance so lots of traffic. Not the end of the world but it did detract from the experience.
One of the best places, if not the best, that we've eaten at in Chicago. Our server Patrick was great, we never wanted for anything. He was simply the best server we have ever had. The food was authentic and very tasty. Even though the dining room was packed, our food arrived hot and fresh. I would like to thank the managing partner (didn't get his name) for all his attention. It was a wonderful time and a delicious meal. We will definitely be back.
Overall everything was great. I eat here all the time and having my wedding reception here next year. However, there were several tables open by the windows and they sat us in the middle near the kitchen. When we asked if we could sit up front, they said they were reserved for 2 hours from that time. It was awkward and we felt like they could have been more accommodating. Out server, Shawna was great.
Supposedly a business meal we closed the restaurant down. Maybe it was the Christmas holidays coming up but everyone was having a good time. The food and service was perfect. Over the years of visiting Chicago we have eaten here at least 5 or 6 times and were never disappointed.
I had a very good experience at Maggianos. I ordered Eggplant Parmesan, that was delicious, and Lasagna to take home which was also delicious. I ordered from the classic entree menu, you eat one at the restaurant and get one to take home. That is a great value, and both entrees were very good. I cannot wait to come back, and I wills bring friends.
We came to Chicago to celebrate a 55th birthday and see a show. We chose Maggianos because of atmosphere, and were not disappointed! Pat was our server and took care of the 6 women at our table flawlessly. He was charming and attentive. We ordered our meal, and the chef delivered a beautiful appetizer to our table in honor of our celebration! Thoughtful! After dinner we ordered dessert to share, and the restaurant host gave us a 2nd to share, again, to add to our birthday celebration. Very thoughtful!! Our food was delicious, delivered in a very reasonable amount of time (despite a very busy evening) and was piping hot and savory in flavor. The entire restaurant staff made us feel like we were the only patrons in the restaurant, doting on our every need and making sure we had a nice evening. This was absolutely the best choice we could have made for our birthday celebration. Thank You Maggianos- From the Michigan Ladies!
We dined here before we went to the theater. We have visited several Maggianos. The ambiance is more quaint at this location and it’s a beautiful restaurant during the Christmas season. The food was excellent as was the service and the wait staff. Always a great choice for pasta!
What an unexpected surprise. Everyone and especially our waiter, Raul was awesome. Great atmosphere, variety / combination of goods and desserts, to the leftovers. Made an excellent lunch the next day. Thank you again for making my sisters birthday celebration a memorable occasion.
We have dined at this location before and have very good experiences. This last time things were a little off, our server was not attentive. She seemed very distracted, asked to take our order prior to asking about drinks and our appetizer was put on the table 4-5 minutes prior to our meal. The food was great and I just think this young lady had an off night because all of the other servers seemed very attentive to their customers. The biggest disappointment was that not one single manager picked up on this and approached us even as I watched them working the dining room.
We have been to Maggiano's on Grand several times over the past 10 years. It's one of our favorites. We decided to have dinner 2 hours before we came in. Easy to get a reservation. We had cocktails and a bruschetta sampler that was excellent. It was heavy on bacon variations but I'm not complaining.
I saw a flounder special I would like to try and my wife had spaghetti and meatballs. She's pretty easy to please with just a good plate of pasta. I, on the other hand, like something interesting. Well, it looked like a nice flounder dish with a crab stuffing. Not so much. It was more like a crab-cake wrapped in flounder fillet. When I received it, it was slightly overcooked and dry. But it was cold too! I normally don't say anything. But I love this place. I very gently told the server, Victor, that it was cold and overcooked. He asked if he could bring me another. I said yes. During the time when my second dish was being cooked, the dining room manager, one of the cooks and Victor again apologized profusely for the misstep. I was fine. I had my wine and the perfectly cooked asparagus that originally came with the dish.
The second dish came and it was hot. It was good but the idea for the dish needed to be rethought. I'm sure they have by now. They do that. My wife's dish was fine.
The bottom line on this is to send back what is not working for you. Just be polite about it. It's not the end of the world. Maggiano's does a great job 99.99% of the time. We all have mistakes. They handled it quite well. I was fully willing to pay for the dish. Of course they took it off the bill. Yes, we will be back. Thank you Victor and the entire staff of the Chicago Maggiano's. You are one of our favorite restaurants in town.
My wife and I enjoy dining at Maggiano's. We've dined at their restaurants in the Chicago burbs, in Maryland and in Chicago. Go hungry and in groups. They specialize in family style dining and very generous portions. The food is good. The service is attentive and they will make sure they do right by you if a dish is unsatisfactory. We always make a point of visiting Maggiano's Little Italy in Chicago every time we come to the Windy City. We enjoy the atmosphere and comfortable booths.
We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at Maggiano's. We were seated earlier than our reserved time (on a busy Saturday night.) We had a great meal. The service was excellent, especially our waiter Bob who entertained us with trivia questions. The dessert was outstanding. We will be there again for our next anniversary, and for all the special occasions in between.
We recently went to Little Italy's Maggiano's for our son's 21st birthday. We had a blast in Chicago. Great food, drinks and service - what more can you ask for! We have been going to Maggiano's for over 22 years, both in the suburbs and city (Chicago and Missouri). We have never been disappointed. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great experience yet again!
Overall it was a fair experience for our party of 11 on Thanksgiving. We didn't realize that it was a set menu at $44.95/person- quite a bit more expensive than usual. Our reservation was for 5:30 and it seemed like it was late at night, the staff seemed exhausted. My husband had to wait about 15 minutes for his cocktail. We had to ask for napkins at least 5 times before we got them. Maggiano's is known for their large family style portions, however when they brought out the 2 side dishes of garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach (for our table of 11) they brought a cereal sized bowl of each. Ridiculous! We had to ask for more of everything, the servings were so small. They also had run out of the chocolate cake, the one dessert that the majority of us wanted. On the positive side, 3 of our party had to have gluten free options and they were very accommodating. Our bill was over $700 for quite a disappointing experience.
