Maggiano's - Chevy Chase Ratings and Reviews
Although I was brought the incorrect entree, the server was very apologetic, professional and remedied the situation quickly. The manager offered a complimentary dessert as well. The food is generally good and the portions are large. Maggiano’s is a good choice for a casual lunch or dinner.
Sort of your typical American Italian restaurant. The zucchini appetizer and the chocolate cake were the two best things we tried. Everything else was ok, but nothing was particularly memorable. Portions are large and, at least the night we were there, they had a number of items that were 2 for 1 -- you got a free entree to take home with you. So if you're looking for lots of food and a place for quiet conversation before or after a movie across the street, this is a good bet.
From the moment I called in to the time we went back to her the experiences Maggiano was great. Everybody was professional friendly courteous and constantly Endeavor to make us happy. The food by the chef who's also a part managing owner was exquisite. the new bruschetta as well as the original delicious fresh tasting and a great balance of flavors. The turkey was rich chasing the sausage stuffing was also yummy and work very well with the turkey. The mr. D's pasta and no gnochi were terrific comfort food with rich flavors. The tiramisu knocked me out and I had to taste the pumpkin cheesecake that was only here for Thanksgiving and it did not let me down. Yummy pumpkin flavoring that doesn't hide the cheesy taste happy holidays to you all
Went here for Thanksgiving lunch. Couldn’t have been happier. It was crowded but we didn’t have to wait. It was busy but the service was great. Our waiter was attentive with a great personality. The food was excellent and we had plenty for leftovers in true Thanksgiving fashion.
Enjoyed our family Thanksgiving dinner for second year. Good food at a reasonable cost. Would prefer that food NOT all be served at once. The main course and pasta were brought to the table at same time. Table became too crowded with dishes. Also would have preferred valet parking. Promised when made reservation but not provided upon arrival.
Fantastic experience! This was our first year having thanksgiving at Maggiano’s and I must say we have a new family tradition. We LOVED it! The food was amazing, the service was beautiful and it was packed with people having a lovely time. What a nice tradition. We will be back next year. While the food was a wonderful price point I do wish there were some holiday drink specials as we spent the GDP of a small country on libations. But maybe that’s the point LOL. But otherwise great, great experience.
I met up with a couple of friends and we had a very nice meal. The food was good although I wouldn't classify it as a foodie haven. The portions were very ample and our waitperson, Godfrey, was a very pleasant young man with very pleasant manners. He set the tone to a very calm meal. The place is humongous, yet the food came out very quickly and it was pretty good. One of us had the chicken parmesan with a side of pasta with marinara. The sauce was a bit sweet for my taste, but the chicken parmesan was as good as grandma's- very tasty. My Carbonara was ok. It had nice ingredients, but they didn't quite come together to make this dish a standout as I would have expected; on a 1-10 it was maybe a 6½. The garlic spinach was very good with a nice balance of garlic and the fried calamari was generous but prosaic rendition not much to distinguish it from every other non-descript place that cooks calamari because that’s what people want; mundane at best. All in all, it is a good neighborhood restaurant and I would recommend it for nights that one doesn't want to cook, just not for that special occasion.
Caleb (our server) was amazing! We told him it was our first time & he gave great recommendations & always with a smile. The chef even came out with a special dish for us to sample to welcome us on our first time! We’ll definitely be back to see Caleb again!
This was our anniversary celebration and it was very special . We had a lovely evening with a delicious meal. We were impressed as the chef came to our table to review the ingredients of a specific dish and the manager stopped by to check on our special dinner. Very thoughtful and attentive staff. We were well taken care of.😄
This is a large restaurant in Chevy Chase - more like a canteen - with lots of photos and images evoking life back home in Italy in the early twentieth century and with it the suggestion that diners are going to receive top quality Italian food. They will not. The helpings are enormous but the food is pretty tasteless. I had linguine con frutti di mare. The seafood, likely frozen, had lost all taste and it came swimming in a very spicy wishy-washy liquid (I cannot bring myself to call it a sauce/ragu). I followed with a pretty nondescript cheesecake, which was not very cheesy. We dined during happy hour so we took advantage of the house wine offerings, which were Italian and OK. Service was Ok but despite there being about 10 servers hanging about only one guy seemed to take and deliver the orders and somehow he managed to charge us full price for the happy hour white wine, then, took ages to correct it. Meanwhile, we needed to leave promptly to go to the AMC for a film and for 10 minutes he did not pay us any attention.
So, the decor and server promised much but overall Maggiano's does not deliver. No Italian chef would dare serve this fare.
Restaurant was not terribly busy and therefore we could not understand why the service was beyond slow. Waiter took too long of a time to bring our drinks and food. Nor did he seem to care that he was not more efficient. My tip reflected my disappointment. Most irritating is that the restaurant "upped" the tip I left on my credit card. I plan to dispute this "upping;" however, because the restaurant attempted to "up" the tip I wanted to leave, I will not go to this restaurant again.
