Maggiano's - Chevy Chase Ratings and Reviews
I always like the food at Maggiano's and it's a good value. Mom's lasagna is delicious. Our waiter made a great suggestion to add chicken meatballs to the chitarra carbonara. Not traditional, but delicious. The cappuccino and lemon cookies were just right for dessert after all that pasta.
Our food was good but that was it.
The waiter had to be told to bring bread to our table when he and other waiters served it automatically. I was asked by both the manager and waiter if I would like dessert in front of the special guest when I had expressed on my reservation and to my waiter in confidentiality that it was my boyfriend's birthday and I would like to have a dessert chosen for him discreetly.
Our waiter never even brought us more water when needed, lack of communication or service.
We went to celebrate my mom's birthday and we had a blast. The table was ready when we came for our reservation and our server gave us plenty of time to catch-up and look over the menu and even showed us the 'family-style' menu which made us all reconsider our selections, but she was super friendly and helpful. The tiramisu was delicious.
We used to have a good experience at Maggiano's but this time, the service was terrible.
It was not busy at all since we went there on one of the coldest days. However, the waiter did not have a good knowledge about the menu. One moment, we had to wait for 20 minutes to get a glass of wine.
Service Is Appalling
I dined at Maggiano's in Chevy Chase for the last time. The service was so appalling even after speaking with the Manager, that I will not return. This is not the first time the service was unacceptable but I gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, thinking that the poor service at my previous two visits was a fluke. I was wrong. I am a former long-time customer of Maggiano's in Chevy Chase, but this restaurant will no longer get my business.
We had an excellent time at Maggiano's on New Year's Eve. We were celebrating my sister's birthday, which we mentioned to the waiter. He thoughtfully brought out extra dessert (cookies that were not included in our family-style selections) along with more helpings of the cake we had ordered, just to make things a little more special. Drinks were a bit slow in coming, but I expect things to be a bit hectic on NYE. Our waiter was very professional and friendly, and the food was fresh and enjoyable. I love family style for larger groups! Makes the meal so easy and relaxed.
I hadn’t been to the Chevy Chase Maggiano’s for several years, and i’m sorry to say that it’s become quite tired. There were very few patrons there for lunch on a busy shopping day during the holidays, and I can see why. The dining room has a musty smell, like a place with old, overused carpet. My companions were content with their food, salmon Benedict and veal Parmesan (though it looked to my eyes as if it was crusty) but my mushroom al forno, always my favorite dish at Maggiano’s, was not at all the same as I remembered. The ravioli was the frozen variety, and the cream sauce was not fresh—rather a sour undertaste. The service was fine, our waiter attentive, which was no doubt made easier by his assignment to only the three tables of diners. In short, I was reminded that this is one of a chain, and one where the business model seems to be breaking down.
Despite huge crowds on Christmas Eve the host on duty and our server went out of their way to make us feel welcome despite a delay in being seated. And the food was surprisingly good. I say "surprisingly" because it was way better than that your typical red-sauce Italian restaurant. We had a fine time.
We love this maggianos, very a bad experience. Only thing I didn’t like was the two server thing going on. We kept having to repeat what we wanted or needed. Wrong desserts brought out. No biggie, just need better communication. Oh and the fire alarm went off but thankfully it was a false alarm.
Maggianos is always a great place for large groups! The host (Chris) was very accomodating in changing our reservations for a party of 20. The waiter managed the whole table and accomodated all request. The food was slow to come from the kitchen so the manager provided great customer service.
The service was horrible. At 430
Pm you expect decent service. Food came out cold and several guests never received what they ordered. Server brought wrong wines several times, one guest received appetizer after main course and one guest received his main course a cheese pizza after all of the guests are almost finished with their entree. We brought in the manager to help. He did what he could but things never improved.. We are regular guests of this location but I’m not sure we will return. Very disappointing.
