Maggiano's - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
We had a reservation but were made to wait. The hostess was somewhat standoffish. We didn’t get our appetizer until after the entrees (when we asked for it again). The server had too many tables and was very frazzled. I got the wrong bill and it took 3 time for the balance to reflect the gift cards we proffered. Overall very disorganized on sunday. Noticed several other tables were also less than thrilled. The manager type person walked around but did little to assist. She could have easily been of assistance and improve the issues. Not overly pleased but the food was good and I’m sure it could have just been one of those days.
Our group of 6 arrived at our reservation time of 7:45 on Saturday night but still had to wait about 25-30 minutes to be seated. We were seated right at the elevator so the traffic level and noise level was a bit high with servers using the elevator constantly to take food upstairs. Having said that, our server (Ray - like the ray of sunshine she was) was amazing! She was very busy and yet she never made us feel rushed or unattended to. I will ask for her on our next visit. The food was prepared to perfection and the orders were delivered without one single mistake. We all enjoyed every single bite. My 11 year old nephew and I highly recommend the Apple Costada for dessert. He talked about it the next morning! I highly recommend Maggiano’s to anyone looking for great food, great service and a great price. Thank you all for a fun night!
Very disappointing experience. We had a reservation for 7 pm but had to wait quite a while for a table -- to the extent that I'm not sure why we made a reservation. The waiting area was jam-packed to the point that it was difficult to move and wait staff was pushing us closer together by having to push carts and carry large items through the crowd. Once seated, our waitress was not terribly friendly and rushed us to place our order. Then she disappeared and it took over 20 minutes to get our DRINK order, which she blamed on the bar being backed up (although oddly, she was able to bring the drinks right out once I flagged her down to ask where they were; I think the bar had them ready but she forgot!). Our drinks actually arrived after the salads had been served. The food itself was mediocre at best. My husband had a long black hair in his chicken parm, which -- needless to say -- put a damper on the rest of his meal. When it came time to checkout, we asked for the check to be split between 2 couples -- which we also told her before we placed our orders. She brought back a combined check! She then had to take it back to split it -- more waiting -- and then she disappeared again before we realized that one person in our party never got the"gift" box that came with her meal! None of us wanted to wait any longer so we left without it.
My children and I have eaten here several times with friends. We went with my husband and had such a bad experience we will never go back. We had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes for our table. Our waiter knew we had a show to go to but talked us into ordering family style saying we had plenty of time. Two hours later we still hadn’t eaten and had to leave so we didn’t miss the show we were going to at the Ovens Theater. After I sought out a manager the situation was handled but that doesn’t change the fact that my family and I went to an 8:00 show starving when we had a 5:30 dinner reservation.
Also every time I have visited the location (at least 5 times) whomever has been at the hostess stand has been incredibly rude. Not one time has the hostess been polite.
While the food was okay, the value was poor. Paying extra for a salad is definitely not the norm in Charlotte. The food was good. Setting at a table by a main walkway was not enjoyable. Staff members constantly walking within 1 foot of me is unsettling. Around 75 people were in the lobby/ Bar. They would not let those with a Reservation get past them to check in. Sometimes it is more prudent to turn away people without a Reservation than to let them block entry and Egress. I don't intend on returning as I did not enjoy my experience.
Arrived early for reservation was told could not be seated until reservation time. Was not seated until 15 minutes after reservation. Had to pay for soft drinks at bar (“fine dining” and you are worried about losing 10 cent soft drink). Had to wait for service once seated then had to change tables due to a large party coming in. Ordered a bottle of wine for 4 people and when they poured it the ran out after filling 3 glasses then recommended we redistribute the wine to fill the 4th glass. Had to ask for bread and never got butter. Had lengthy conversation with manager after which the service got much better and the meal was very good.
We were a little disappointed in dinner the other night. The restaurant was crowded and noisy (they did seat us promptly, though, to be heir credit). We tried the baked ziti, and it was just ok - not great. It definitely didn’t taste like it was made from scratch. The first serving of bread that was brought to the table was delicious but meager. We then asked for a second serving which our server brought to the table, but it wasn’t the same bread; it definitely wasn’t worth the calories! Usually our experience at Maggiano’s is outstanding, but this visit was lackluster.
We have always loved Maggiano's and still like the food, but it does appear the overall experience has slipped. Maggiano's used to be perfection... a server would stop by your table within seconds, bread would be delivered immediately and the restaurant itself would be maintained. ...Those details are the things that are slipping.
- Our server was very personable, when he was around. We had to ask for drink refills. We had to ask for vinegar to mix with the olive oil and wait and wait (and he brought butter instead). We had to wait and wait for the check to be delivered and then wait and wait again for it to be picked up to be processed.
- The restaurant actually ran out of bread! How does that happen?
- Details are missing -- light sconces were removed a long time ago and never replaced. But the electric boxes that they were plugged into are still there and no effort has been made to hide them. The faucets in the bathrooms are mismatched and the nice wooden stall dividers are now stainless steel. Commercial paper towel dispensers are now in the bathrooms instead of thick paper hand towels in a basket.
The food is still delicious, but sadly the restaurant itself is no longer special and a step above the competition.
Other than our server not being very friendly and not smiling much, we enjoyed our food, as always, and our visit. Our server did a great job, she just didn't seem very happy that day and hardly ever smiled. Couldn't help but wonder if she felt we were going to be poor tippers because we ordered water to drink, and I shared a meal with one of my children, though, we did order an appetizer. My husband is actually a very good tipper, especially when we receive superb service. We do not have a Maggiano's in our hometown, so we love to visit the restaurant when we occasionally come to visit Charlotte or Concord Mills, etc. or the Raleigh Maggiano's when we visit that area.
Our waiter Derek was great. The food was great and overall we are happy every time we come to visit. My favorite event that we do during the Holiday season is your breakfast with Santa and the new Santa from the Dec 2nd sitting was spot on and had my older children convinced he was legit. :) Thank you for consistency.
My family has always loved going to Maggiano's. We are from Ohio, our restaurant was in Cleveland. Always went for lunch while on our shopping trips. However, I must be honest. As much as I love the bar atmosphere, I would never go for more than one glass of wine and NEVER for beer. My family of 3 went on NYE and we had dinner and drinks. We were told the bottled domestic beer was $3.50. Long story short. It was $5 a bottle for Miller Lite and $6 for Mich Ultra. Thats absurd. Our bill before tip was $131. FOR 3 PEOPLE. No dinner was over $20 that was ordered. We were shocked. My wine. 9oz pour was $15.50 my 6oz pour was $10.50. If we ever do go back, we will skip the alcohol all together. I love to have wine with dinner, my guess our days at Maggiano's are over.... Sorry. Great Food Great Atmosphere. A shame really.....
First we showed up for a reservation and was given a buzzer to wait for our table. We waited several minutes with the masses. When they called our name they shuffled us back to a cramped dining room with too many tables. The waitress was prompt and she took our drink order. We ordered appetizers and they came out quickly. There must’ve been some problem in the kitchen because the wait staff kept trying to bring us food for other people. Our entrées came out and the food was not as good as it used to be. It might have been an off night but the noodles were way under cooked or over baked in the oven. Despite being my last visit to Maggiano’s. I’m pretty sure I won’t be missed considering the crowds of people they had there but I just don’t like the feeling of being shuffled around like packs of animals. For the price there are much better options.
First time for Holiday dining. Very busy but reservations were on time. Had fulfilled my request for a round table for 6. As we have experienced in the past food and service was very good. For the cited they were serving I thought they did an excellent job. Still one of our favorite “go to” restaurants.
The service was mediocre, they seemed too busy for us. The main reason for the poor review is because we were seated in a really noisy outdoor area. They first seated us at a table with the heater blowing in my face and a tray on the seat.
The waitresses were too busy to care. There's better food and ambiance for the money elsewhere, this place is too overrated. Its only good for noisy groups and noisy kids.
