Great food and ambience. Service a little slow but allowed us ample time to visit with friends. Somewhat expensive - 6 people $850, so likely will only go for special occasions.
We were celebrating our friend Rita Cooper's 75th Birthday and it was an absolutely lovely event. The entertainment provided by Rodney Kelley was excellent. The food was delicious, and Jen our server was outstanding. We definitely will be returning. The outdoor ambiance was so soothing.
Perfect. A special place.
I took my wife and friends there to celebrate my wife's birthday. Needless to say, everyone enjoyed every minute of it. A couple of my friends wished their portions we're bigger for the entrees
Food was excellent, service was incredibly personalized. We shall return!
A delicious experience coupled with outstanding service.
One of the most delightful evenings I've ever had at a restaurant. The menu was so enticing it took us a half hour to even decide. The co tails were classic and wonderful. The table was quiet and the room was beautiful. The service was respectful but very attentive. Just loved it and will return many times
We celebrated my wife’s birthday. The meal was very good with excellent food matched by the service. We will definitely be back.
Excellent dining in every way . Pricey, but worth it if you value an incomparable dining experience.
For New York City prices, I had higher expectations of the food. Great atmosphere and nice ambience, however, small portions and high prices left me with a mediocre review.
Excellent setting for a very intimate dining experience. The food was creative and delicious. Our server did an excellent job.
My husband and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary at Magdalene and everything was outside. We enjoyed live jazz, and the food and drinks were amazing!
Loved the Sunday jazz supper. What a delightful evening.
Excellent!! Food, service, and atmosphere were all superb. I look forward to returning.
This was our second trip to Magdalena as we were quite impressed by our first visit. Service is extraordinary without being obvious or obnoxious. Bread to die for. Shrimp cocktail was done perfectly but seems a tad expensive for a mere two shrimp. My veal chop was done to perfection and sizeable, had to resist picking it up by the shank to get the last bite. My partner loved her spring chicken and foie gras.
The desserts are worth saving room for as they are presented with great flair with subtle tastes. This is definitely on our special occasions list and recommended to all our friends.
Simply wonderful. Exquisite food and service. Atmosphere was great. I love to be able to linger after a good meal, enjoying coffee and conversation. We were able to do this!
The Food was great , the service impeccable and the entire experience was exemplary. I’ll be back for certain.
Outstanding in every aspect. This is truly one of the best restaurants in the country!
Another outstanding meal at Magdalena. Our first experience on the patio. Was a very nice dinner. My first time either the new menu after the refresh. Only the 3 day. All very good. I tried to start with the deviled eggs from the bar menu but that was still in the works. Oh well. Great time and fabulous meal on the patio.
Magdalena remains my favorite upscale restaurant in Baltimore. The food is actually a good value and exceptionally well prepared, always with a creative twist. We love the elegant bistro feel of the restaurant and the service is extremely attentive but not overbearing. The wine list is deep and well selected but could do with more selections below $80 - how about some nice Cote du Rhone from 2015 or 2016 for instance. You can find some nice reasonable bottles, but be careful because some (even the high priced ones) may be marked up 3X retail or more, which is not nice. But you can do your wine homework before going. Again, a real gem.
The restaurant is expensive, but food, service and setting excellent.
The best service I have experienced ever! From the extremely knowledge bartender (who educated me on so many things), to the server who knew the preparation of every dish, to the valet, to the host/hostesses, to the manager (who arranged for a tour of their outstanding boutique hotel), and everyone in between. Food was very good, and made good use of local ingredients. One small detraction, this was the first time I was unable to find a glass of red wine to my liking. I sampled four different red wines ($12-$25 per glass) and none were satisfactory. I even was willing to purchase a bottle (I'm the only one in my group who drinks alcohol), but the wine that I knew (and liked) was sold out. Bummer.
Our server from Peru was outstanding! We would go back just for him. The food was also excellent.
One of our favorite places, Magdalena's never disappoints. English pea ravioli and the lamb were particularly great on this visit.
Everything was great just wish the entrees were a bigger portion.
A universe of exquisite tastes and textures. Worth the splurge. Best local restaurant.
What a fantastic place for a special dinner. Food and service was perfect. Everything was taken care of just as you would hope. Could not dream for anything more to make a special night more special. Thank you.
Amazing food and service. The space is comfortable, warm and inviting. I'll definitely be returning.
interesting food, excellent fired oysters good wine list
good for celebrations (our dining room had three couples 2 birthdays and an anniversary)
Excellent service and food!
The food was good but very few choices. I asked for a recognition of our 25th Anniversary to be presented with desert and none was made. Disappointed!
I love this place. The chef is amazing. Wish I could afford it every night.
The valet staff were very friendly and accommodating with the forthcoming rain. Our vehicle was backed in and I did not need an umbrella (which I didn't have). The hostess was also quite nice, but she was yelling a bit as if I was 70, but I can imagine that may be the average age of the "regular" clientele. Our waitress was very nice. She asked about food allergies and then forgot that I said no seafood and brought out my Caesar salad with anchovies. But her recommendations were pretty spot on. It was Father's Day and I ordered the recommended lamb chop and it was delicious. I let the Chef determine how it should be cooked. All sides were very good as well. We did have a crying kid next to us which was very distracting being the restaurant didn't appear to be full and seating is very intimate, so that would be the only major negative that I had and that's something the restaurant can't control. Overall, I would definitely go back for another special occasion.
What can I say, the place was wonderful! Great small dining room where we were the only party from 5-7 on a Sunday night. Others came later but it was still moderate conversation levels. Our waitress was great and they provided a special dessert for our guest who celebrates their 100th birthday this year. Fab food and lovely environment. Most of the party had the filet mignon and one person had the salmon, enjoyed by all. Salad was great as well as vegetables. Desserts were a treat as well.
This is a great place for special occasions but I understated the hotel serves afternoon tea. I will try that soon.
Wonderful meal and service, all staff are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable yet unpretentious. Pricey even in today’s upscale market but certainly enjoyable. Would return although not frequently.
We had a great evening at Magdalena with our family. Excellent food and service. Highly recommended!
Went for our anniversary. Wait staff was very personable, knowledgeable about the menu. Unfortunately the menu was pared down from what was listed on their website earlier that day. First course of corn/tarragon soup and burratta were excellent. Main courses were ehhh. My wife had the branzino with grilled porcini mushrooms which was their special for the night. The porcinis were burned on one side and the fish was a bit over cooked. I ordered the Sunday dinner main of roasted sirloin with Yorkshire pudding and carrots and English peas. It was not even close to acceptable. It was straight out of a 1970’s fine dining steakhouse. Cooked multiple hours earlier. Rested on a grill rack for a prolonged period of time as there were marks from the rack on the meat itself. Overcooked, bland, and unexciting. The Yorkshire pudding was cold and hard. Overall, extremely underwhelming, and I’d imagine if the exec chef was there that it would have been served.
Great potential but not there yet. Service needs some work.
We went for the "Sunday Supper" early, at 6:00pm. While I had the set menu, my wife picked items up a la carte, and both meals were wonderful. I asked for a wine recommendation when the wine menu stumped me, the waiter was most helpful. The hostess even stopped by our table during our meal and answered some questions we had about the restaurant. The only downer was that we wanted to sit outside on the patio, but alas, it was raining. Overall, an excellent experience!
