Magdalena is always a delight. Relatively quiet and serene on a Saturday night. Food and cocktails delicious.
Great food, beautiful venue, attentive service. What else is there to say? Not inexpensive and not overly large portions but not enough to change my opinion as to the excellence of the restaurant!
Service was slow.
One waiter for our entire dining space.
Scallops were over salted
Started to send back, but declined.

What a find in the Mt. Vernon area of Baltimore! Amazing and creative menu: you have never had ceviche like this; the mushroom lasagna side dish looked like a hazelnut wafer cookie but tasted worlds better; and I would not normally order parsnip soup, but I am so glad we did. Beautiful little spot, very intimate, very pretty -- perfect for a great date. Amazing wine and whiskey lists too. Prices can add up, so this is more of a special occasion location for us, but we will be back.
Exquisite food and we got tucked away into a corner so we could have a quiet, romantic anniversary dinner!
Amazing spot for our 30th anniversary dinner. I can only remember one other meal in Baltimore that was this good. This place cannot be missed.
Excellent meal. Scallops had a little grit. Sweet potato tots a miss.
Creative menu with great food and service. Knowledgeable staff. Comfortably elegant atmosphere. Could have kept wine glasses filled.
Lovely and attentive staff. Food was absolutely delicious. This is a favorite restaurant.
When I entered the restaurant, there wasn't a hostess at the front, so I asked the bartender if I could sit at the bar, to which he said yes, and didn't engage in further assistance (e.g. asking if I had a reservation or letting me know that he'll get the hostess). It was a Sunday evening, the restaurant wasn't packed, so I was taken aback at the lack of service at first. a few minutes later, the hostess arrived, grabbed our coats and walked us to our table. Overall, the food was fine - not great - and the service was fine. I was expecting a bit more class and comfort upon arrival - the experience that I envisioned reading Magdalena's website and on social media didn't really match what I experienced in person.
Amazing service. Amazing menu. Amazing atmosphere. No rushing. Would recommend for any occasion (we were celebrating special birthdays and couldn’t have been happier.
Dottie was our server and she was great. Service as a whole is first class. The food was excellent.
Magdalena was highly recommended to me from my friends so I had high hopes and expectations for my recent dinner on 12/11/19 at 6:00 for my birthday
I arrived early and sat at the bar and said hello to the bartender and got a dismissive grunt back from him and he said he was busy and would get back with me shortly.
Maybe 5 other tables in the whole restaurant at that time
That was about 5+ minutes.
I ordered a glass of wine and he didn't even have time to pour it and asked a server to pour it.
My wife arrived and got the same cold response from the bartender.
The hostess sat us early for our table across from the bar near the outside area.
Very pleasant and comfortable
We were surprised to see that our server for the night was the very same grumpy bartender!
Not happy about that.
We asked him several questions about the menu and he could not really provide a decent amount of details.
Anyway we placed our order and all was good.
There was a table sitting next to us who has a different server and I wish we had her.
Super nice and attentive and answered questions with utmost detail.
She went over daily specials and we heard items that our server didn't even mention!
We ordered 2 appetizers (venison tartare & ceviche) and 2 entree's (halibut and bronzini).
All the food was wonderful....but the ceviche was AMAZING!
Would love to know what was in the recado. I asked our server and he had no idea. Didn't offer to find out.
We ordered the frangipane tart for dessert which was ok.
When the bill came it was as expected pricy, but we knew that going into the meal.
Overall for the food and dinning space, Magdalena hit the mark.....but for service and price to value....would say absolutely not worth the $$$$.
This is probably one of the most expensive restaurants in Baltimore and for the price you would expect everything to be top notch.
Highly suggest that you re-train the bartender/server!
Delicious food starting with the bread and butter, and ending with dessert. Excellent, attentive, well informed waitstaff.
Excellent meal. Service was fine. Took a while to get my check.
The food was absolutely delicious but we were disappointed in the service which was very spotty. Either three people were serving us or we sat alone. The valet attendants and coat check person were friendlier and warmer than our servers, who seemed busy and distracted. We were seated in the back room and it felt awkward, odd and un-special. i almost feel as if they should have a different menu and price point for people stashed in this weird space. I would not sit there again. This was a very expensive meal and I was surprised at how ordinary the experience felt. The food was quite good but nobody in our group wanted to stay for dessert; we were all dying to get out of there.
Honestly, the best meal I’ve ever had. Will be coming back multiple times!
Awesome place with highly professional and attentive service. Incredible artisan bread, innovative menu featuring top quality ingredients expertly prepared. Menu is varied but approachable. Beautiful and deep wine list with a ton of hidden gems. Given its Relais status we expected a good evening and weren’t disappointed in the least. Looking forward to a return visit.
This was a lovely evening at one of the top restaurants in Baltimore (deservedly so!). Wonderful, attentive staff. The food was to die for. For an appetizer I had the maple-glazed Colorado lamb bacon with Ricotta Gnudi, Local Squash, Fermented Green Cherry Tomatoes, while my wife had a salad. Both were superb! We each got the same entree.... the seared venison tenderloin with foie gras, Yorkshire pudding and Tuscan kale. It just melted in our mouths. This was our first visit to Magdalena and will be followed by many more!
Loved it. Favorite restaurant in Baltimore.
One of the best restaurants. Excellent food and service
Terrific food and service! One of the best meals we’ve had in Baltimore!
We had an early reservation and that turned out to be a good thing. There was a power outage in the neighborhood and the kitchen was affected. The staff was very attentive and they explained that not every dish would be available. We decided to stay and chose from the menu of what was available. Dinner was delicious. Some diners were not so lucky but the staff found them reservations in other restaurants. I will definitely be back
Everything was fantastic, accept the menu was limited more selection would be great.
As usual the food was amazing. Service is excellent. This is one of the best restaurants in Baltimore.
To whomever it may concern,
On behalf of my family, our experience was phenomenal. The food was perfect. The service was more than excellent. Unfortunately, I do not recall our server's name, but the server was wearing glasses and had short spiked hair. Our experience was amplified because of the service given.
Thank you very much. We hope to see you soon, and have recommended this establishment to others.
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Baltimore. A true hidden gem! Great for date night as well as celebrations or just because you want to get together with friends for a good meal with fabulous ambiance.
High end, elegant dining in a luxurious setting. Perfection,
A very special restaurant. Superb service. An absolutely wonderful and well curated wine list. Knowledgeable sommelier. Simply one of the most outstanding and creative meals period. Brilliant all around.
Nice anniversary dinner
This is our favorite restaurant in the city. We come often. They always remember our name, allergies, water preferences and even our preferred table. They have a few different rooms to choose from, each with a different ambience. Chef Levy creates the most interesting, divine, flavorful food and changes the menu frequently. He is very mindful to have choices for everyone - fish, beef, always something vegetarian. I’m particularly fond of his lamb. His soups are absolutely to die for!!! Fresh bread is baked daily.
It was a birthday celebration for my husband. Fantastic evening!
We had a fantastic anniversary dinner at Magdalena. From the drinks, to the food, to the service, everything was top notch.
Excellent setting superb food and great service
We went there to celebrate our 21st anniversary. My husband told them in advance about our special occasion. We were there on a Tuesday and restaurant had plenty of seating, but they chose to put us right next to 3 people talking about dental devices and practicing with the equipment.
My husband ordered a goat cheese mousse salad and the cheese had zero flavor. The autumn soup was yummy, but only one vegetarian entree on the menu. The kicker was when they brought me a dessert complete with a happy birthday candle and message for our anniversary..funny but cringe worthy. Not worth the hefty price.
My husband and I went to Magdalena to celebrate my birthday. It couldn't have been a more beautiful experience. The decor is lovely. The service was outstanding. And, most of all, the food was superb. I give it an A+
Lovely venue, staff, and delicious food!
Simply amazing start to finish! Each dish was simply heaven.
A wonderful evening in a delightful venue. We were seated in the tasting room area. It was lovely, uncrowded, beautifully decorated and blissfully quiet. Our server Andrew was very attentive, but allowed us to have a long, relaxing meal. The food was wonderful. We had oysters and goat cheese mousse as appetizers and then duck breast and venison for our entrees. All the food was top notch. The cocktails and wine were excellent as well. A meal like this is expensive, but the experience is very worth it for a special occasion. We arrived at 7:15 and didn't leave until about 10 and enjoyed the leisurely dining experience which is quite rare these days. There is also complementary valet parking which is very nice.
