We had a blast at Magdalena. The food was excellent and the drinks were amazing too. The service was also top notch which altogether made for an awesome dining experience. Will definitely be back!
I had amazing time with my fiancee. The level of the hospitality amazing.
Food was great and service was great. Waiter explained everything and answered all of questions.
Covid has been tough on restaurants. Magdalena is special and so happy it has returned as beautiful and tasty as ever. We had the treasure room all to ourselves. Elegant sophisticated stunning restaurant. So happy to share this jewel of a restaurant with my family. Oysters were superb scallops delectable crumble spectacular. Thank u Magdalena for a special night and welcome back.
Amazing restaurant! Fantastic dinner! Excellent, excellent service!!
Without a doubt the BEST dinner experience in Baltimore!! Don't go anywhere else for dinner. You won't regret it!
Wonderful dining experience with a truly impeccable staff. The owners were a sweet couple who came out to see what there customer’s experience was. The whole evening was unforgettable.
The level of service we received was phenomenal. Our waitress was well informed about items on the menu. She made great suggestions. The ambiance and the food was phenomenal. I would highly recommend Magdalena.
Fantastic evening. Great food and service with great safety protocols. Will definitely be back - hopefully soon.
All of the food was amazing!
New menu is AMAZING, it continues to be my favorite Baltimore restaurant of choice, well done team Magdalena
Beautiful setting in the enclosed patio. Flawless service. Clean and gorgeous building. Love it!
Really great experience. Delicious food and attentive service.
I wish I would have come to this restaurant before it reopened. I missed out on all the French cuisine and I went in with hopes that it wouldn't matter but I think it made a huge difference. The only thing I thoroughly enjoyed was the sticky toffee pudding. It was my first time I had that and it was great. I also feel like their should be a chef tasting table for French dishes though!
This was our first time at Magdalena. I never went before when it was a bit "fancier," but we absolutely loved the remodel. It is fresh and classy, without being pretentious. Service was on point and every item we ordered was phenomenal. This will 100% be a place we bring friends and out of town guest. So charming and wonderful.
P.S. Get the goat cheese ravioli...it was phenomenal.
New menu with superb appetizers and interesting blend of entrees (from Cheeseburger to Duck for two). I miss the ambience of the old Magdalena's. Colorful painted walls are now a sterile white. Service great as always.
Chef special is always the greatest
we love their drinks and enjoy the ambience
Excellent service, knowledgeable bar tender and wait staff. Food was exceptional.
The food and service were outstanding. It was our anniversary and were greeted with good wishes from all the staff. A nice welcoming touch.
Menu was interesting and enjoyed our choices!
The garden was lovely and the spacing comfortable.
We were on the patio—just lovely. Setting, food, and service top notch. Love the focus of the new menu. Also the wine list had great selections at many price points.
Service and dinner was excellent. Love the new iteration of Magdalena! We were there to celebrate both our anniversary and my birthday. We were recognized by one of staff from a previous visit so she sent out some glasses of champagne on the house, very nice touch! Courtyard is beautiful and spacious and you can tell they are taking all precautions during this pandemic. Will absolutely be back! 10/10
Incredible service, food and people. You really feel special and looked after there.
I was very disappointed with our dinner on Saturday. This new concept of "Modern Maryland Bistro" was anything but bistro-like.
Magdalena was perfect before. Now, I won't be going back anytime soon.
Was excited to try the Bistro menu at the Magdalena and as soon as the hotel reopened made a reservation. It was a party of four and two of us started with the Maryland Han and two with the Frito Misto.. all very good!
For Entrees three of the party went for the British Fish & Chips and one had the Chicken & Morel pie from the specials. We all agreed the fish was delicious but disappointed with the ‘chips’ .. we thought we’d be getting British style home cooked chips but instead they were just well done fries! Could of done better!
The pie did not come with any sides and would of been mice if the server pointed this out so we could of ordered side dishes!
The black bass chef's special was delightful. The arugula salad added just enough spice to the entrees that both of us enjoyed. The oysters on the half shell were cleanly shucked. The desserts were good but not special. (rocky road sundae & berry crumble).
Love this restaurant and the new approach! We came here to celebrate our recent wedding and were not disappointed!
Excellent. Love the new menu!
My best friend and I love to go out to eat and really treat ourselves. This dinner was exactly what we needed, especially with everything going on. Every drink was amazing, everything we ate was perfect, the staff was SO nice, and it was just a beautiful experience overall. They also have a great outdoor seating option if you prefer that! Will 100% come again.
Chef Mark’s food is the best - always inventive and a delight to enjoy. Kudos!!
Love the new menu!!
The food and service were excellent. We appreciated the strict observance of Covid space precautions. My fish dish - black bass with small beans and pickled fennel was the best thing I have eaten in a long time. Flavorful but not too rich. I loved it.
Service as always was outstanding. Staff is top notch, polite, respectful and professional. We are regulars at Magdalena’s and unfortunately this dining experience was slightly underwhelming as far as food was concerned. Our Hamachi fish appetizer was slightly fishy, the octopus app was very small and sea bass entree was flavorless. We suppose the chef was not on his game that evening. The desserts were amazingly good. We’ll definitely return regardless.
High prices for food that tried too hard to be innovative and missed the mark. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. Was just blah. We did the chef’s tasting menu at $90/pp to sample different bites, but I can’t name one memorable thing. From interiors to service to menu, it all felt a bit confused, tired and dated.
Great birthday dinner
We had a great birthday dinner here. Everyone loved the food and ambiance. We are highly appreciative of the restaurant honoring our request for a certain table type and for doing all the birthday things. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Baltimore, and perfect for a special occasion. We will be back and next time will stay at the beautiful Ivy hotel.
Just a remarkable dining experience. Beautiful room creatively cooked and presented dishes, attentive but n’t intrusive staff. We will definitely return
best night ive had in a long time
food was amazinfg
I made the reservation to celebrate my friend’s retirement. We were both extremely pleased with the food and the ambiance.
Magdalena is most definitely a fine dining restaurant. Its location in the former basement of the Ivy Hotel's historic mansion is intimate and elegant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the sweet potato ginger soup. It was served with a small piece of pork terrine and a few other embellishments. What was special was the way the server poured the soup around, but not over the ingredients. My only complaint was that the menu selection was fairly limited. Since I don't care for fish, my options were even more limited.
In our opinion, Magdelena is the #1 Restaurant in Baltimore, and our favorite for special occasions. The food is always amazing. The service is perfect. In addition, the decor in is warm, and the ambiance is beautifully tasteful without being ostentatious. The restaurant is divided into several spaces, each with 3-5 tables, making for a private, quiet feeling in which it's easy to carry on a conversation. What more can you ask for?
