I love this place. The chef is amazing. Wish I could afford it every night.
The valet staff were very friendly and accommodating with the forthcoming rain. Our vehicle was backed in and I did not need an umbrella (which I didn't have). The hostess was also quite nice, but she was yelling a bit as if I was 70, but I can imagine that may be the average age of the "regular" clientele. Our waitress was very nice. She asked about food allergies and then forgot that I said no seafood and brought out my Caesar salad with anchovies. But her recommendations were pretty spot on. It was Father's Day and I ordered the recommended lamb chop and it was delicious. I let the Chef determine how it should be cooked. All sides were very good as well. We did have a crying kid next to us which was very distracting being the restaurant didn't appear to be full and seating is very intimate, so that would be the only major negative that I had and that's something the restaurant can't control. Overall, I would definitely go back for another special occasion.
What can I say, the place was wonderful! Great small dining room where we were the only party from 5-7 on a Sunday night. Others came later but it was still moderate conversation levels. Our waitress was great and they provided a special dessert for our guest who celebrates their 100th birthday this year. Fab food and lovely environment. Most of the party had the filet mignon and one person had the salmon, enjoyed by all. Salad was great as well as vegetables. Desserts were a treat as well.
This is a great place for special occasions but I understated the hotel serves afternoon tea. I will try that soon.
Wonderful meal and service, all staff are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable yet unpretentious. Pricey even in today’s upscale market but certainly enjoyable. Would return although not frequently.
We had a great evening at Magdalena with our family. Excellent food and service. Highly recommended!
Went for our anniversary. Wait staff was very personable, knowledgeable about the menu. Unfortunately the menu was pared down from what was listed on their website earlier that day. First course of corn/tarragon soup and burratta were excellent. Main courses were ehhh. My wife had the branzino with grilled porcini mushrooms which was their special for the night. The porcinis were burned on one side and the fish was a bit over cooked. I ordered the Sunday dinner main of roasted sirloin with Yorkshire pudding and carrots and English peas. It was not even close to acceptable. It was straight out of a 1970’s fine dining steakhouse. Cooked multiple hours earlier. Rested on a grill rack for a prolonged period of time as there were marks from the rack on the meat itself. Overcooked, bland, and unexciting. The Yorkshire pudding was cold and hard. Overall, extremely underwhelming, and I’d imagine if the exec chef was there that it would have been served.
Great potential but not there yet. Service needs some work.
We went for the "Sunday Supper" early, at 6:00pm. While I had the set menu, my wife picked items up a la carte, and both meals were wonderful. I asked for a wine recommendation when the wine menu stumped me, the waiter was most helpful. The hostess even stopped by our table during our meal and answered some questions we had about the restaurant. The only downer was that we wanted to sit outside on the patio, but alas, it was raining. Overall, an excellent experience!
Excellent service. Pleasant environment. Appreciated the absence of canned music. I erred in setting a deadline of a theater curtain. This was a meal that would have been better enjoyed without time restraints. I will not make that mistake again.
I felt the food was delicious and attractively presented, but I feel the quality of the wine did not merit its price. I think either a better wine selection or a lower price would have been appropriate. Not a restaurant I can afford frequently, but it does merit a return visit.
One of the best dining experiences in Baltimore. The service is excellent from the moment of arrival to the valet having the car ready as you exit. The most important factor, the food was very good. However, the overall prices, including the appetizers, majority of the main courses, desserts, and coffee service, is higher than just about any other dining establishments, other than the better steak restaurants.
Magdalena is an elegant gem. It is very expensive, particularly for Baltimore, and although it is in an elegant boutique hotel, the neighborhood is not one of Baltimore’s best. That said, the food was delicious, the server very friendly and knowledgeable, and the restaurant itself is very classy and stylish. We ate in the courtyard which is lovely. It was a Friday evening and the entire place was not even half full. It is a real splurge for most people , but we highly recommend it.
We always enjoy Magdalena. Thoughtfully prepared and served by a very professional waitstaff. Convenient to many of Baltimore's cultural offerings as well, and staff is always cognizant of any time constraints without rushing us. We will be back, soon.
It was a fabulous way to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary
Wow..Magdalena is my new favorite restaurant! I went once back in February for my birthday, and I knew I had to return once it was nice out to experience the outdoor dining area. Magdalena was incredibly accommodating, from being able to seat us outdoors, to making me a delicious vegan off menu meal. I cannot stress enough how amazing every single part of our experience was. The service and food were incredible. Thank you for a night my friends and I will never forget, Magdalena!
Great place to celebrate our anniversary! I would happily go back again.
Lovely setting in outdoor courtyard for a summer birthday dinner. However, very expensive, both food and wine. Will not return.
Magdalena's didn't disappoint! It is the perfect venue for a special occasion. We loved the food, service, and ambience.
Magdalena is fantastic! Marty and the entire team are amazing. It's my "go to" spot for important dinner meetings and celebratory events.
Levy is an artist. Try the fried oysters, try the veal, try the halibut, just try anything, he'll be sure to put a pleasurable spin on it.
Mardeee the host went out of the way to make our first experience the best! Keep him he’s a gem!
Food was incredible and our waiter was fantastic, great service. Magdalena made my mother's birthday one to remember.
Oh joy... atmosphere, interior design, cocktail originality, food variety with substance and creativity AND service in keeping with the Chateau & Relais trusted seal of approval...
I have been to this gem several times and the menu changes some with what is available locally. They had lamb with English pea ravioli and ramps this evening and it was outstanding. The soft shell crab appetizer was amazing as well. The craft cocktails were as creative and imaginative as they were delicious.
First timers here, experience was top notch from beginning to the end. Maureen and Beth were both great!! Will definitely be back again. Thanks for a great dining experience with such professional staff.
Expensive and worth it. Great care was evident in every aspect of the food and the service. The quality and prep of our food was superb. The serving team is extremely attentive -- to the point where, when I joked that if they kept filling my water glass I was going to float away, our server apologized and slowed down the pace of refills. (Normally, the server would take that comment as a sign to ignore my empty glass for the rest of the meal.)
There is a lovely courtyard, although there was a large party taking up the whole thing. Still, we were seated so that I could enjoy the garden. (When I inquired about who/what was going on, the waiter was graciously circumspect.)
I frequently complain about the noise level in restaurants but Magdalena was much better than other restaurants that I consider relatively quiet (although, as with all restaurants, if noise is an issue plan on an early dinner).
Superb! Yes, it's expensive, but my god, the food. And once a month you can enjoy live jazz in the beautiful courtyard outside. Extraordinary restaurant.
Foods were over average. The attitude of the server and overall services were horrible – Needed to remind the server multiple times until we get menu, drinks, and foods while he responded to the next tables in a timely manner. Dishes were served wet.
Excellent place for a special day. The backyard patio is a romantic place.
Everything was delicious. I would like to call out how nice and professional the car valet service was. At the end of the evening our car was waiting for us; perfectly angle parked in front of the hotel. Well done.
Charming venue . Good vibe. Great special occasion spot, or perfect bar for chatting over a speciality cocktail. Our server was wonderful!
Simply amazing. Really enjoyed my meal, the ambiance, and the service at this fine establishment. Will certainly return in the future.
Very pleasant meal, especially for Mother’s Day. Menu choices were excellent. A couple missteps: $8.50 for a cup of tea? Food auctions when brought to table? We would definitely return, expectations just a little lower
Love everything about this experience.
Easily the best restaurant experience in Baltimore now. Everything top level.
Highly recommended a tour of the hotel after dining. Great to see an old dame made young and elegant again without losing so much of its historic architectural detail.
This is a hidden gem! We went Saturday night and it was not crowded and should have been! Our third time eating here and everything was perfect. We were seated in a private little room on the right that we hadn’t seen before, so quiet and lovely with wine vines covering the ceiling. The food is delicious, we had a beautiful Rockfish filet and Foie Gras with Asparagus. The service is so accommodating, friendly yet very professional, highly recommended!
This is our favorite fine dining place in Baltimore for a reason, perfect as always!
Had a wonderful time. The Paddington cocktail was delicious.
Scallops and pork bellies would have been better if less salty.
We appreciated the generous portions of wine by the glass, considering the prices.
All staff were excellent.
