About
Located one mile from downtown Healdsburg, this Michelin one star restaurant is on a Victorian estate at the heart of Sonoma’s wine country. Chef Jesse Mallgren takes full advantage of a wealth of local seasonal produce, whenever possible from our estate gardens. Choose the from an extensive a'la carte menu or the Chef's tasting menu.
The food and service was, as usual, just excellent. It is really about the only local restaurant that has the old school "white table cloth" feel. Having said that, the decor is a little dated, and gives it a "stuffy" sort of ambiance. However, for a very special occasion, I think they are the best in the County.
Food tasty but a bit too processed. More texture and seasoning would be welcomed. VERY interesting wine list and a knowledgeable sommelier. Good service and not overly attentive.
Charming ambience and friendly service. I loved my duck entree. My husband enjoyed the wagu steak. It was melt in the mouth! I was a little disappointed by my root beer floating island for dessert. There was only a tiny amount of meringue with the ice cream. Would definitely go again though.
Wow! Great experience. Everything from cocktail to dessert was perfect. Love this place!
What a beautiful place with food and service to match. The ambiance is superb - no dark noisy hardscape place. Gorgeous inn. Can choose from a prix fixe or a la carte. Waiters are very helpful. So many good things to choose. The onion veloute was outstanding. Hard to decide on first course. Great bread and the duck was delicious. Very elegant and cozy Great for a special occasion.
This is an accomplished and beautiful restaurant. The hotel and public rooms are lovely and the service is very good. That being said, I don't think it rises to the level of a Michelin one star. Everything was excellent but there were no amuse bouches, no palette cleansers, no pre or post desserts. None of the touches that you expect in a starred place.
Disappointing. We are foodies and we’re drawn in by the Michelin Star. Our servings fell way short of the photos on the website. The waiter was a bit surly and did a poor job of presenting the menu and choice decisions. Pleasant supporting staff.
Unique menu and very nice wine list! The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great service. Fantastic tasting menu. Great place for a romantic dinner.
I wish I could give this place more stars. 10 stars! Such a beautiful place. I came here for dinner and had the course meal. Every single thing on the menu that came out was perfect. I’ve eaten food all over the place. (Big foodie) and I can honestly say this place highly exceeded my expectations. The staff was so nice and attentive. I must have said thank you 20+ times throughout the evening. It was well worth the experience. Thank you Madrona Manor for having a slice of heaven on earth for us to enjoy.
We had an amazing time. I have lived in sonoma county all my life and I have only been to Madrona manor a handful of times. One of the best, If not the best, restaurant in sonoma county.
Fabulous meal, great staff, wonderful food, nice atmosphere, Loved it!!
Valentine’s Day fixed price menu at $110 per person. Given the ratings the restaurant has had I figured it would be awesome. The service was very good and although the waiter explained there were choices in each course I missed the part about the up charge. Caviar was +$45. It was very good but not $45 good. The alternate of smoked egg was even better at the fixed price rate. Then I went with the truffle risotto +$25 - not good. Couldn’t taste the truffles and the risotto was overdone. The Beat salad was ok but admittedly I’m not a bears guy. Main was an American wagu beef. It had to be broiled because it had a greasy taste and texture that was not very good. I went with the wine pairing +$55. Average size pours and not many interesting wines.
Although the service and atmosphere were great it certainly didn’t put so the average food.
This is an outstanding restaurant. Definitively it deserve the michelin Star. It is equal to those of the same ranking in Europe, and that it not usually the case for those in the USA.
We really enjoyed our evening with old friends at the Manor. It was quiet enough that we could actually have a conversation, which is all too rare these day in restaurants! We went on a Wednesday night to enjoy their "locals" fried chicken dinner and it did NOT disappoint!! The biscuits were out of this world, as was the perfectly crispy chicken. The Manor is lovely and a pleasure in which to be. The only slight critique is that the service was lacking in warmth, but this is the first time we've ever felt that way, so perhaps our server was simply having a bad day. Overall, this is a lovely place for dinner!
Outstanding service, food, ambience—wish we lived closer, so we could enjoy diner there on a more frequent basis. Our sincere thanks to all!
One of my favorite restaurants. We enjoyed the oysters, bread, trotter and scallop crudo appetizers.
The duck and halibut were outstanding. Always wonderful for special night out.
We were quite underwhelmed by Madrona. The place is very stuffy — at 50 I brought the average age down significantly. Service was lackluster — took a while to be seated since the hostess was missing, for example, and water service was hit or miss. And the food was fine but not great — and unlike most restaurants of this caliber, there were no “extras” between or before courses. Final straw was that they had “forgotten” to order cheese and so couldn’t do a cheese plate despite having it on the menu. And after an appetizer, entree, and sharing a dessert I was still hungry. Sommelier was good though, as was the quite-good California Tempranillo he recommended.
My wife and I enjoyed Madrona Manor's Dickens Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day since our sons were spending this Christmas with the in-laws and we were on our own. We were frankly looking for a little Christmas cheer since our family was elsewhere.
The menu was carefully thought out and the choices were excellent. The food was delicious and delivered hot, and the service was great. The wine pairings were also excellent, featuring wines from all over the world that paired perfectly with each course. We were particularly impressed that Madrona Manor's skilled chef was able to suggest and deliver a few ideal substitutes which were compatible with my wife's special diet which were served with a smile. That was very much appreciated!
But best of all were the Dickens Singers quartet, dressed in nineteenth century period costumes, who sang Christmas carols, winter songs, and even invited patrons to sing along.
All in all, it was a perfect, unhurried, delightful Christmas dinner which cheered our spirits and sent us home with smiles, happily fed!
Well done, Madrona Manor team!
I think it's best to enjoy MM during regular times. Coming for a holiday must be incredibly difficult for staff, from kitchen to servers. The Dickens carolers added so much to the dinner.
One of the wines offered was mediocre at best, but when we mentioned it the waiter returned with an outstanding Barolo. The AV cabernet would be good - in 5 years. However, it was served way too soon. After complaining about the pinot, I didn't want to mention the cab.
Over the years I've enjoyed MM many times, both for lunches and dinners. I'll definitely return but most likely for a non-special event.
We attended the Dickens Christmas dinner. The food was great. Choral singers were memorable. Overall, a fantastic evening.
We did the price fix Christmas Eve dinner and it was one of the most amazing dining experiences we’ve ever had! The service was impeccable and the food utterly divine . Tim did an excellent wine pairing with each course. It will be a night we will always remember and treasure😍
Our group of seven had a wonderful evening listening to Dickens carolers while enjoying wonderful food and service. We will continue to make this an annual family tradition.
The Dickens Christmas dinner is a wonderful experience. Food is great — a fixed menu but with 2 choices of appetizer and entree.
The musical chorus is outstanding in period dress. Wonderful voices.
We were there for the Dickens Dinner. It was magical! Thank you so much.
They need to figure out their bubbly water game. 3rd year in a row of Dicken’s dinners that they have repeatedly tried to pour still water into our bubbly water glasses. Everything else was great, but we can to constantly run interference when the water person approached the table.
Went to the Christmas Dickens Dinner. Great food, Quintet of singers traveling from room to room singing Christmas songs. This was our fifth year. Warning: expensive (for us).
As always, the Dickens Dinners are well prepared, presented and serviced. A cherished annual night out. The singers perform perfect a capella, with traditional and classically challenging selections.
We have been to Madrona manor many times before and could always depend on them for spectacular food and service. This last time we went the food was amazing but service was a huge let down. We were greeted by our waiter 25 minutes after being seated. Cocktail and drink menu wasn’t given when asked on 3 separate occasions. Wine for the wine paring was given 10-15 minutes after each course. Timing of the courses was sporadic. Food wasn’t described when served. Overall it was quite heartbreaking to see such a dramatic difference in service in what use to be such a dependable restaurant. We emailed the restaurant at the end of the evening and haven’t received a response from them.
We always look forward to the Christmas season with the Twelfth Night singers. They were excellent as always. The food was great too.The caviar course was scrumptious. The crab salad was to die for.The risotto with truffle was exquisite as was the celeriac soup. The entrees of Beef Wellington and salmon were very memorable. The fig dessert was very nice.We recommend the wine pairings as they make the dinner much more tasty. The service was impeccable and attentive which is a little difficult to do with singers moving around.Great job!
A wonderfully romantic getaway! Chef Mallgren has definately earned his star! The Beef Wellington is the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. I am so excited to return. A true treat. A perfect way to celebrate special occasions with loved ones.
Reservations were at 6:30 and no one came to our table until 7:15. Carolers were wonderful.
Madrona Manor is the perfect place for an amazing meal. The location is stunning and the food is out of this world
We will absolutely recommend Madrona Manor to friends. The service was impeccable, as our table was hosted by five different staff. The Prix Fix menu was extremely creative and the wine pairings not only complemented the dishes but introduced us to varietals and regions with which we were not very familiar. The Sommelier had some interesting things to say about his selections, and the variety and creativity involved in the course preparation made the evening truly unique. The evening was quite expensive but worth the experience.
Very romantic restaurant with a twist it has excellent food. It was also nice to see a restaurant handle a holiday well with great service and good food.
Elegant and delicious five course Thanksgiving dinner. The wait staff was outstanding. Quite generous pours on the wine pairing. All in all a great way to spend the holiday relaxing instead of cooking.
Just excellent. Second time here for my anniversary. Coincidentally had the same server. Excellent service, very high end. I will always come back.
The place was awesome. Beautiful and intimate. My only gripe is I feel like I was talked out of ordering the “fried chicken” that is offered on Wednesday nights. Granted they have a Michelin Star so you go there for more than just fried chicken. Butttttt it seemed like it was frowned upon. None the less the food was exquisite.
we happened upon the restaurant by accident. We stayed at the Inn and wanted a restaurant close to where we were staying, so booked the restaurant. What an amazing find! Can't wait to go back and enjoy the amazing surprises the Chef will offer.
We came to celebrate our anniversary. The host and our server greeted us with happy anniversary. We did the tasting menu. All the dishes were very creative and delicious. They use fresh ingredients possible from their own vegetable garden on site. Servers were attentive and outstanding. Food is priced reasonably. This is a great place for any special occasions.
