A Wine Spectator award-winning restaurant since 2005 with “Best of“ awards since 2008, Madison's wine list features an expansive selection from an extensive wine cellar. Madison’s sommeliers help with selections. The Private Wine Cellar offers an intimate dining setting for up to 12 guests.
Madison’s Restaurant is open for breakfast (for in-house guests and Old Edwards members only), lunch and dinner daily. Reservations are suggested for lunch and dinner. The Wine Garden is open in the warmer months with no reservations available.
Michael our server was extremely hard to understand and rather slow bringing our bill when we finished our meal. I had to ask another waiter to get Michael to request our check.
We had the loveliest anniversary dinner at Madison’s! From the service to the food and the special attention, it was just a wonderful experience!
I love the relaxed feel of this place. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.
We visited Madison's on a recommendation, and drove an hour out of our way to get there. We've eaten at nice restaurants world-wide, but by comparison, the food was highly over-priced, not particularly flavorful and not terribly imaginative. (had the ribs and the pork chop). Staff was very friendly, service was fast. This is the restaurant your grandparents would hold up as a "nice place."
Good steak. A little pricey for the quantity you were served.
The food and service excellent! Would recommend making a reservation so you can enjoy Madison’s.
Not up to Madison’s standards.
Excellent service. Details about birthday dinner were carried out. Everyone appropriately wishes my wife a birthday greeting.
Eaten there five times. This was the best. Tenderloin filet
Madison's is a fine-dining establishment with excellent food and lovely atmosphere. The facility's Hummingbird Lounge is an elegant and comfortable place for cocktails before or after dinner--BUT--guests at a fine-dining restaurant should NOT be expected to carry their own drinks to the dinner table if they are called before they have finished their cocktails! It should be a given that a server would place the beverages on a tray and lead the guests into the dining room behind the host/hostess. While our meal was lovely in every respect, I took umbrage as a senior citizen (aged 66) being called "Miss" over and over by our server. Ladies and gentlemen should be addressed as "ma'am" and "sir," respectively, unless the server calls them Mr. or Mrs. plus their surnames. These might seem like petty details, but fine dining should be "fine" in all areas--especially when the guests are spending hundreds of dollars for the experience.
Delicious dining experience. Trout over potato latkes was outstanding! Jon, Chelsea, and Murphy provided terrific service. A wonderful experience for four friends reuniting!
My husband and I went to Madison's for the first night of our honeymoon in Highlands. It was a beautiful dinner and they had rose petals on the table to celebrate our special occasion. I had the trout and my husband had the meatloaf- both were excellent. They even gave me a rose at the end of the night.
Not sure I guess I would but with certain things to keep in mind . Portions are extremely small and don’t order fish because it’s not what they tell you it is ...service is what stands out here .
everything was great we love coming there. I often visit your place and find every time things are always great .
We have traveled from our home near Chattanooga to Highlands and always have evening meal at Madison's. The food is excellent and the ambience is wonderful. This particular evening was another great experience with the exception of the service. It was fairly average. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed; we had to remind her a couple of times for a couple of items we ordered but were never delivered. We will be back.
Fantastic at all levels.
Great service but odd layout of old hotel that has been added onto in a nonsensical way. Very 80’s vibe. Food was very good and the biscuits delicious.
We had a great experience at Madison’s. Everything was wonderful: the food, the service, the atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
We don't get to the Highlands as often as we would like, but when we do our first choice for dinner is always Madison's. The menu, the wine list, the ambiance and the service are all first rate.
This has always been one of our "go to" restaurants when we have visitors from out of town because the food and service is always consistent. I also like the fact that they take reservations for lunch and can be reserved on Open Table.
While staying on property at Old Edwards Inn our delay in reserving a table only 3 days in advance resulted in a 9:00 pm reservation. The restaurant is well appointed, warm and charming and the menu options were interesting. Our server was admittedly 'new' and did not seem to have had the training she should have to be put on the floor at a restaurant of this caliber. Perhaps being on of the last reservations, if not the last one, put her in a position of not having the support she may have ordinarily had during earlier service.
The wine list was extensive but I have to say the glass list was very disappointing. Because of our menu selections, my wife and I wanted to pair our courses by the glass. There were only 5-6 varietals, one each and the winery much less the vintage were not even listed. I asked what two of them were and that question took some time to answer. This limited selection of wines by the glass seemed to almost look like an afterthought.
My rib-eye preparation, over sautéed spinach and mushrooms was delicious and cooked to the perfect temperature. When I pointed out that 20 - 25% of it was fat, which I left on the plate, our server seemed embarrassed but didn't seem to know how to handle it. I wasn't interested in anything more than acknowledgement of this large concentration of inedible product by someone but even after it was returned to the back of the house, nothing was ever said.
Breakfast is available for house guests only and was delicious! It was so nice to see such creatively designed and well presented dishes for breakfast!!
We will return as the property is lovely and the hotel staff are wonderful! When in Highlands, it is definately worth a stop!
Very disappointing. We were celebrating our anniversary. The restaurant has all the trappings of fine dining.. white table cloths, bow ties in waiters, rich paneling and high prices. Then the food came out. The ribeye hardly looked like a steak and had no taste. The shortrib was bland and chewy. The wait staff appeared to be very inexperienced. A lot of money for nothing
Don't order the meatloaf, very disappointed. The market fish, short rib were excellent.
My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary in Highlands, and part of our celebration included dinner at Madisons. Our expectations were high, and they were exceeded! It was a beautiful evening and a delicious dinner.
Madison's is excellent. From the food to the service, it was a real treat to dine there. I was staying at the Old Edward's Inn which made it very easy to dine at Madison's. I would definitely recommend this restaurant particularly for a special occasion.
First time customers at the Madison and we thought the food and the service were outstanding. This should be on your list of places to visit if you ever find yourself in Highlands, NC.
It was great
My husband and I went to Madison’s while we were staying in Highlands. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was romantic and cozy. We are definitely going back next time we’re in the Highlands!
Everything was impeccable, from the food to the service.
This was a significant birthday celebration luncheon at Madison's. The staff knew of the occasion. Each member was very cordial and shared best wishes to the birthday girl. Dining was inside even though this was a beautiful day for outside dining. This was a Tuesday and the outside dining facilities were fully subscribed. That would certainly attest to the high regard others have of this dining venue. For us, this is a 75-minute drive each way around curvy highways. Totally worth the effort because everything at Madison's is done first class. If you are within an hour's drive of this restaurant, you will forget the extra time and effort it takes to get there because you will not find a better dining environment within 75 miles. Prices: quite fair. Our luncheon entries, including dessert, totaled less than $50.
Outstanding food, classy and romantic atmosphere and our server, Murphy made our anniversary feel very special.
Wonderful ambiance and superb food and service. 4 Stars !
We had an amazing meal at Madison’s! From the salad through the entrées and dessert, couldn’t have asked for a better meal or better service. Thank you, Jon!
Excellent food, service, restaurant all around. Great wine list, first class.
Excellent all around. Highly recommend! Food, service, ambience
very special and attentive.
Our waiter seemed to keep forgetting about us. We didn't get beverage refills, asked for a dessert menu, never got that. He was covering a big area, out and inside. Not sure what the issue was. But not we expected at Madison's.
Excellent meal, beautiful setting in a beautiful little town. If you are in town definitely dine at Madison’s
Exceptional, upscale experience and our server, Molly was delightful! Wonderful place to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
Attentive wait staff, did not hover. Very good meal. Felt the price/value was very reasonable. Overall a great experience. We made reservations several months in advance to make sure we could get in. Recommend you do the same.
Server did not place order to kitchen. Lunch took 1:45 hours. No manager apology except for 2 appetizers once he realized the error after I inquired about the delay. I believe there should be better supervision of the servers until they gain needed experience in such a great highend property.
