Need to book at 7:00 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
Not sure I guess I would but with certain things to keep in mind . Portions are extremely small and don’t order fish because it’s not what they tell you it is ...service is what stands out here .
everything was great we love coming there. I often visit your place and find every time things are always great .
We have traveled from our home near Chattanooga to Highlands and always have evening meal at Madison's. The food is excellent and the ambience is wonderful. This particular evening was another great experience with the exception of the service. It was fairly average. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed; we had to remind her a couple of times for a couple of items we ordered but were never delivered. We will be back.
Fantastic at all levels.
Great service but odd layout of old hotel that has been added onto in a nonsensical way. Very 80’s vibe. Food was very good and the biscuits delicious.
We had a great experience at Madison’s. Everything was wonderful: the food, the service, the atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
We don't get to the Highlands as often as we would like, but when we do our first choice for dinner is always Madison's. The menu, the wine list, the ambiance and the service are all first rate.
This has always been one of our "go to" restaurants when we have visitors from out of town because the food and service is always consistent. I also like the fact that they take reservations for lunch and can be reserved on Open Table.
While staying on property at Old Edwards Inn our delay in reserving a table only 3 days in advance resulted in a 9:00 pm reservation. The restaurant is well appointed, warm and charming and the menu options were interesting. Our server was admittedly 'new' and did not seem to have had the training she should have to be put on the floor at a restaurant of this caliber. Perhaps being on of the last reservations, if not the last one, put her in a position of not having the support she may have ordinarily had during earlier service.
The wine list was extensive but I have to say the glass list was very disappointing. Because of our menu selections, my wife and I wanted to pair our courses by the glass. There were only 5-6 varietals, one each and the winery much less the vintage were not even listed. I asked what two of them were and that question took some time to answer. This limited selection of wines by the glass seemed to almost look like an afterthought.
My rib-eye preparation, over sautéed spinach and mushrooms was delicious and cooked to the perfect temperature. When I pointed out that 20 - 25% of it was fat, which I left on the plate, our server seemed embarrassed but didn't seem to know how to handle it. I wasn't interested in anything more than acknowledgement of this large concentration of inedible product by someone but even after it was returned to the back of the house, nothing was ever said.
Breakfast is available for house guests only and was delicious! It was so nice to see such creatively designed and well presented dishes for breakfast!!
We will return as the property is lovely and the hotel staff are wonderful! When in Highlands, it is definately worth a stop!
Very disappointing. We were celebrating our anniversary. The restaurant has all the trappings of fine dining.. white table cloths, bow ties in waiters, rich paneling and high prices. Then the food came out. The ribeye hardly looked like a steak and had no taste. The shortrib was bland and chewy. The wait staff appeared to be very inexperienced. A lot of money for nothing
Don't order the meatloaf, very disappointed. The market fish, short rib were excellent.
My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary in Highlands, and part of our celebration included dinner at Madisons. Our expectations were high, and they were exceeded! It was a beautiful evening and a delicious dinner.
Madison's is excellent. From the food to the service, it was a real treat to dine there. I was staying at the Old Edward's Inn which made it very easy to dine at Madison's. I would definitely recommend this restaurant particularly for a special occasion.
First time customers at the Madison and we thought the food and the service were outstanding. This should be on your list of places to visit if you ever find yourself in Highlands, NC.
It was great
My husband and I went to Madison’s while we were staying in Highlands. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was romantic and cozy. We are definitely going back next time we’re in the Highlands!
Everything was impeccable, from the food to the service.
This was a significant birthday celebration luncheon at Madison's. The staff knew of the occasion. Each member was very cordial and shared best wishes to the birthday girl. Dining was inside even though this was a beautiful day for outside dining. This was a Tuesday and the outside dining facilities were fully subscribed. That would certainly attest to the high regard others have of this dining venue. For us, this is a 75-minute drive each way around curvy highways. Totally worth the effort because everything at Madison's is done first class. If you are within an hour's drive of this restaurant, you will forget the extra time and effort it takes to get there because you will not find a better dining environment within 75 miles. Prices: quite fair. Our luncheon entries, including dessert, totaled less than $50.
Outstanding food, classy and romantic atmosphere and our server, Murphy made our anniversary feel very special.
Wonderful ambiance and superb food and service. 4 Stars !
We had an amazing meal at Madison’s! From the salad through the entrées and dessert, couldn’t have asked for a better meal or better service. Thank you, Jon!
Excellent food, service, restaurant all around. Great wine list, first class.
Excellent all around. Highly recommend! Food, service, ambience
very special and attentive.
Our waiter seemed to keep forgetting about us. We didn't get beverage refills, asked for a dessert menu, never got that. He was covering a big area, out and inside. Not sure what the issue was. But not we expected at Madison's.
Excellent meal, beautiful setting in a beautiful little town. If you are in town definitely dine at Madison’s
Exceptional, upscale experience and our server, Molly was delightful! Wonderful place to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
Attentive wait staff, did not hover. Very good meal. Felt the price/value was very reasonable. Overall a great experience. We made reservations several months in advance to make sure we could get in. Recommend you do the same.
Server did not place order to kitchen. Lunch took 1:45 hours. No manager apology except for 2 appetizers once he realized the error after I inquired about the delay. I believe there should be better supervision of the servers until they gain needed experience in such a great highend property.
A nice ending to a perfect Labor Day weekend. Comfy large booths and clubby atmosphere--okay with or without your blue blazer. Tomato parmesan soup super, scallops scrumptious, and trout terrific!
Wonderful first time eating here. Great ambience, outstanding service. Food selection is very southern oriented .
We went for lunch and had a warm gracious welcome; however, despite repeated clarifications requested by our server (who was friendly and seemed to be trying very hard), my food was not what I had ordered. Instead of the trout entree with a side salad to share, I received trout on a salad. Not really a terrible thing but how the mistake could ensue was a mystery....and the trout was bland. I didn’t bother to point the error out as my expectations for correction were low.
On a happier note, we enjoyed our Prosecco and finishing with Pavlova for dessert.
Lastly they forgot to charge us for the Prosecco and when my husband pointed it out they didn’t charge us. All in all a strange unexpected service experience.
We ate at Madison's for my wife's birthday. Afterwards she said it was the best birthday dinner she had ever had. Hew steak was the best that I had ever tasted. The mashed potatoes were unbelievably good.
We had a souffle with house made ice cream that was GREAT. Overall this was a great experience.
The food was excellent; the service was odd. The servers were very polite and attentive, but seemed a little confused about some of the food and about how to serve it. The decor is new and comfortable. The background music was odd for a place that presents itself as posh; it sounded like an oldies station, ranging from quiet background music to bouncy pop. Desserts were great!
Also on a nice day eat outside in the wine garden. Eating at Madisons is a must on our visits to Highlands.
Very disappointed in so many ways.
Heard meatloaf was supposed to be really good. Meh!
Told server Matt I was on low carb food plan& wanted very small amount of potatoes & lots of veggies. He acknowledged at order time.
Plate comes out with LOTS of mashed potatoes and minuscule amt of broccoli & carrots. He even commented on how the kitchen got it mixed up.
Husband got rib eye. Meh again. Cooked rare of one end and med on other end. He wanted med rare. Flavor was boring for rib eye.
All 4 in party were disappointed in quantity of food. We were all hungry when we left.
Both couples ordered soufflé for dessert.
Waiter ruined the puff it by cutting it open at table and inserting cold ice cream!!!!!!
Souffle was ruined. Again, very small dessert portion.
I had planned to return in a month to celebrate my birthday with friends, but cancelled our reservation.
Very poor all around. Rip off, even for Highlands.
Madison's is a lovely restaurant, the food is very good, as is the wine list. Getting seated was a bit of a mess, which may be attributed to their having a new hostess. There was a couple who had reserved a table for two at noon on a Wednesday, but were made to wait because "the table wasn't ready." They also turned away a party of five who had been told by the outside hostess they had room in Madison's.
They really need to make sure there is good communication between their restaurants and that front of the house personnel are fully trained before they interact with clients. Once seated we wanted a rose we had ordered before at their wine garden eatery. Instead they offered a very expensive alternative. We asked if we might have the one served outside and they accommodated us and brought in a couple of bottles. It was an awkward exchange but they ended up being very accommodating. Again, there should be better interaction between their facilities.
I had booked the table as a birthday celebration which I had noted in the reservation but of which the waiter was not aware. I mentioned it and she did bring a beautiful slice of chocolate cake with a candle. Again, better communication would have avoided this misstep.
We both were disappointed in the lack of flavor of the main course. Both were flat tasting. I had the meatloaf and expected a savory delight. It was beautifully presented, but missed on taste. My wife felt the same way about her pork tenderloin. Everything else about Madison’s was wonderful. The staff was excellent, the ambiance also delightful. We did not have a long wait for our table. An enjoyable night, but not great food.
The Lamb, Ribeye, and Tomato Soup were fantastic. The service was exceptional along with the ambiance. I recommend that you come early to Hummingbird's Lounge for a cocktail before dinner.
I have dined at Madison's many times and it has been a delicious, wonderful experience. This last time was horrible. After 1 hour and 20 minutes and no food, we got up and left. I guess anyone can have a very bad day so we will be back again.
Food was really good. Service was good once someone got to us. Slow at beginning.
Trout was delicious! Quail is more sausage and not so much quail. Grits were yummy and also field peas! We will definitely go back! Very good!
