Madison's Grill - Union Bank Inn Ratings and Reviews
Food was wonderful. Lamb was delicious, as was the salad with the delightful, but not overpowering, wasabi flavour. The shrimp cocktail was superb and the dense, rich brownie was the best I have ever had. Service was great; same too with the atmosphere and hospitality. A lovely mesl and evening.
We were celebrating my father's birthday and thought it would be nice to go out to a fine dining restraunt for supper but this was anything but. While the atmosphere and service was good, the food was just fair. Everything was bland and unseasoned, however, the Baked RDB was dreadful. It was exactly like what I imagine eating straight out of a diaper would taste like. I would not recommend Madison's Grill to anyone but I highly suggest La Ronde.
We went to the Madison's Grill for my husband's birthday.
I had the rabbit and was quite happy with it, my husband chose the striploin and was impressed. His desert however, was rather disappointing. He had the Brownie a La Mode and reminded more of a frozen chocolate bar rather than a brownie. The texture of the Hot Bailey’s Ice Cream was just odd and tasted more like instant almond pudding. The seasonal pound cake I ordered was decent, no complaints there.
All in one, we had a nice evening, the cocktails were good and the wine fantastic . We had been to Madison's Grill twice before during the last few years and the food and service were outstanding. This time they just did not quite meet our expectations and we would rather try other fine dining places before returning. .
One last thing- maybe it was me, not paying attention to the machine when it was time for the bill, but it turns out that the tip was already added to the bill and I ended up tipping again.
Fish and chips totally inedible - fish covered in some disgusting batter, chips congealed hard as rock. Green salad consisted of a tray of sad wilted greens. Worst lunch I can remember in downtown Edmonton - which is saying something. At these prices, utterly unacceptable.
First time here; had Lunch; very average entrees, nothing special and certainly pricey for what we had ; Apple Streusel filling was tasty but the pastry very tough & dry; server took it off the bill which was a very nice gesture. Will try this restaurant one more time for dinner as perhaps this was just a bad day for the chef:)
I was unable to tell from the wine list if they had an unoaked Chardonnay so I asked. The waitress had no idea (no problem) so she said she would ask her manager. She came back and said they do not know. She recommended a Chardonnay to try so I did. Very oaky. I then picked another wine that I knew of. My point is if you are going to offer a wine list to the guest please take the time to educate your servers of the wine on the list.
We had to change our reservation last minute from breakfast to dinner. The manager and server were very accommodating and understanding, and make us feel comfortable. The space is nice and they have a decent wine list. Definitely worth checking out in Edmonton.
My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time with friends. We all thought this restaurant was very good. Mains ordered were the Free Range Pork (2), the Lamb Shank and a Beef Filet. All very good. The vegetables that came with the meal were wonderfully prepared and I particularly like the scalloped potatoes that came with the pork. Service was excellent without being obtrusive. We were visiting from Calgary but I would love to come back sometime.
I've been coming to the Madison Grill for a few years now (5+) usually a few times per year. Never disappointed, some staff has changed over time, service is always excellent & food quality has never wavered a bit.
This visit I had the 6 course chef's tasting with a wine pairing, and it was exactly as expected - magnificent.
One comment - I believe that the chefs tasting is only available if the entire table is having it (not 100%, please confirm) best suited for smaller group.
Great food, excellent service, and beautiful fun atmosphere.
We celebrated my boyfriends 30th birthday at Madison Grill. The food and service was beyond exceptional. The ambience and overall mood is perfect for an intimate dinner. We stayed at the Union Bank Inn for the night and also had brunch at the grill which was equally good. We will definitely come back!
My husband and I were here for dinner for our anniversary on Sunday. We both had the three course dinner with wine pairing. Each dish was a surprise and I absolutely loved everything! Service was outstanding as well! Would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone! We will most definitely be back again!
We celebrated our 35 anniversary. Had early reservation at 4:30 so only one other couple dining. Brett made it a special night even giving us direction to get to cirque de soliel. Food was first class but wouldn't expect less since the prices are on the high end.
Such a great experience. Good, unique choices on the menu without seeming contrived or "pretentiously original." Every flavour had thought put into it and a purpose, not just stunting for attention. Beautiful presentation. Dessert was spectacular. Ambiance inviting. Loved the stake with pomegranate reduction and so many tempting things to go back and try. Really well done.
As always, Madison's was fabulous! The waitstaff was friendly and personable and professional. They take the time to get to know their customers and make an effort to remember them. Brett and Todd are the best servers I've ever encountered.
The food was phenomenal. Healthy portions, perfectly cooked fish, and surprisingly delicious flavour combinations. Braised fennel...who knew. The kitchen will go out of its way to accommodate special dietary needs without compromising flavour, presentation, or service. I am allergic to night shades and chef made a risotto to order for me - because there were peppers and tomatoes in the vegetable broth.
You will never regret eating here.
