Great ambiance, delicious food, good cocktail in a very small glass that seemed a little overpriced. Overall good experience
This was our second time at Madison and we can't wait to go again. The cocktails and food are remarkable. I had the barrel aged Vieux Carre and it was incredible. So flavorful, boozy but mellow. Lots of flavor going on, but none of the harsher tones you sometimes get with barrel aged cocktails. For dinner we shared the ceviche from the special menu - grapefruit and mango with a little hit of spice on the tortilla chips. I'd be lying if I didn't tell you we fought over the last bits. We also had the brie wheel - delicious. I had the the pasta alla amitriciana with buffalo meatballs - utterly fabulous. So much flavor and the gluten free spaghetti was perfectly cooked. My son had the gnocchi and if they were any lighter they'dve taken flight. Tons of flavor in the gnocchi and the sauce. My husband had the pork tenderloin which was also perfectly cooked and had a delicious sauce. So good, must go back!
The open air design of the restaurant is refreshing! The service and food are amazing.
Food and service were excellent. Lots of interesting choices for breakfast. Space was peaceful and calming.
We had a wonderful time! It was a Friday evening dinner, very busy and somewhat loud. We had gotten our drinks and they were refreshing and very tasty! The food was AMAZING! We had the pork chop which was recommended by our server(what a GREAT recommendation) I also had the Gnocchi which was so yummy! I would have licked the plate!
Highly recommend going!
Reserved a counter seat since I was solo and didn’t want to take a table thinking it might be crowded. When I arrived the bar was full so seat wasn’t available so instead of waiting I took a table since plenty were available. Served water right away but it took probably 10 minutes to finally have my server stop by. I gave her my drink order and asked about the happy hour menu I saw online with Open Table. She said it was only available in the bar which was aggravating under the circumstances.
Ordered kale salad with tuna. Nice size and tasty. Served fairly quickly.
Noisy with full bar but otherwise nice other than initial slow service and not offering the happy hour menu because my reservation wasn’t available.
Beware of parking situation. Took 10 minutes of circling to finally find a spot several blocks away
Here for brunch and it was delicious. Something for everyone and great brunch cocktails.
Absolutely fabulous food...drinks were a little pricey, but tasty...service was not the best, however. Not sure it was the waiter or just the support staff, but our table was never properly set with the correct amount of plates/napkins/utensils until we had to ask someone after receiving our appetizers. Then, again after our dinner plates were cleared, dessert was served by support staff w/o utensils and we sat for several minutes waiting to get someone's attention until we finally got them. Good thing we didn't order ice cream! Also, our waiter as nice as he was, completely forgot to put in my latte order until I reminded him. Thankfully he did not charge me for it. Overall, these items were relatively minor issues. The food was so good, I will certainly be back.
Unfortunately, the woman who greeted us (and subsequently messed up my reservation through OpenTable) was unpleasant and seemed clueless about how to check us in. Perhaps it was her first day or she's not cut out for hospitality work! She set the tone for the first 30 minutes but the waiter was engaging and helped erase her negative energy.
My wife and I were visiting San Diego for the first time and found this gem near the air B&B we were staying in. The building itself is beautifully designed, warm and charming. The service was outstanding as our waitress was pleasant, knowledgeable, friendly and not overbearing. The food was exceptional in taste and maybe could use a little work on presentation. The cocktails were artfully crafted and worth every cent. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I came here with a large group for my birthday. The service was so friendly and incredibly fast for such a large party. However, let's dive in to the food. Every single thing was absolutely DELICIOUS! Things everyone loved...the brie, mac and cheese, gnocchi, carrot cake, salmon skewers. The cocktails were also really good. The ambiance was super cute and great for a special occasion or date night.
Great food and drink.
Excellent as always. Best pork chop in San Diego, hands down. Service was stellar on a Sunday evening, even with only one waiter on staff.
The incredible service made our experience amazing. Such friendly vibes, and the food was good too!
Beautiful bar, service was great, but it was so loud and noisy that you couldn't have a conversation with the people at your table. Not a place I would recommend to have dinner where you want to have a conversation
We went to Madison’s for the first time last Saturday night. It was a family birthday celebration and we had a wonderful time. The food was unique and very taste. The service was spot on. I will definitely return.
The noise level is way too loud! Some sound absorbers would really help. Probably won’t be back. Too bad ‘cause other elements were good & location is very convenient
I had been here before when the restaurant had first opened, and had a pleasant time. Now that the restaurant is popular, it seems service has gone downhill. Disappointing.
I made reservations for 1:30. When I arrived, the hostess seated a group before me who did not have reservations. Then, she informed me that a table was not ready yet. When I asked what the point of making reservations was, she said, oh we have a table for you but the people aren't done eating yet. Really? Because if I had not had reservations, I would have had the same wait time. In other words, my reservations were NOT honored.
My date and I waited 30 minutes for our supposed "reserved" table. During this time, the hostess checked on us and I told her it would be nice to have a drink. She said she would be happy to get us one. I assumed she would comp them, given our wait. I WAS WRONG.
We were finally seated and service was slow. They were out of the dish I had my heart set on - the Mediterranean beans breakfast. The server offered another suggestion, by this time I was so hungry I didn't care. Our food took another 1/2 hour to arrive. In other words, we got to the restaurant at 1:30, we didn't start eating until 2:30! The food I ordered I could have made at home, sadly.
When the bill came, the server handed it to us but quickly snatched it back, saying the hostess had forgotten to add our drinks on. I thought they were comped! This was the last straw. I know this restaurant is popular and busy, but that shouldn't equal poor service with a high price tag.
Beautiful restaurant and great service !
The food and ambiance was good. I would recommend adding a kids menu — parents still like to go out.
Also, add more lights in the bathroom. It was ridiculously dark and with the music blaring, all I wanted to do was leave.
Waiter Ricky was great. Everything was great as always. Consistently great experience each time. Hard to match overall.
Rating would be much higher. But, was brought a salad we did not order, then later charged for the salad (but too engaged in conversation to notice) so I paid for the salad without knowing it. Server acknowledged the error, but never removed it from the charge. Will not recommend or go back...too simple a thing to fix to have occur.
Always awesome service - best for brunch! Try the mimosas.
The atmosphere was AHHHHH-mazing! We had a group of 6 for brunch and had a lovely time. Mimosa selection is impressive and the food was good.
Let me start with, I love it and will go back for sure. There are two reasons I did not give it a 5 stars.
1- The hostess, she clearly was overwhelmed , we were standing there for a few minutes, nobody was there to greet us, OK, no big deal, the problem was when she showed up , she totally ignored us standing right there, she proceeded to clean her area like put pens away and menus, then walked away. We waited for about 10 to 15 minutes when a man noticed that we have been there for a while and helped us, all while she stood there. Not even a hello, I will be with you in a few minutes. NOTHING.
2- NOISE ,It is a beautiful restaurant, but idk what can be done about how loud it gets, I felt like I was shouting all night.
Luckily our waiter, was so cool and polite, he made us forget all about the awkward hostess. The drinks are awesome, and the food ... YUM!!! I would recommend it to friends for sure.
I would not recommend this restaurant. Service was horrible, most of our dishes came out “warm”. Noisy to the point that conversation without shouting is nearly impossible
Delightful; delicious... I was entertaining old friends and the booth/bar seating was perfect for conversation and intimacy...
Overall, good service and ambience if you aren’t in a rush.
Madison continues to be a neighborhood fave! They have happy hour most days until 7pm. We came for my dad's birthday and they gifted us a free dessert. We love their food and cocktails. Highly recommend!
Best place in town!!!! Love it and so do my friends
Great place good food and also service I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a good food and great drinks
Service was subpar. Sat in a booth at the bar. Not worth it since the outside is a lot nicer. Bartender was also our server. Felt like he couldn’t keep up with the bar top as well as the tables. He was texting a lot and didn’t pay much attention to our table of 4. May have been an off day for him, nonetheless bad service. When one of this girls at our table asked him what his favorite cocktail was he responded “I don’t think you would like it, it’s a burbon drink and most women don’t like burbon”. We are no feminist by any means, but that’s quite a statement. Food was a lukewarm. Flavor was ok. We are typically a group that loves to stick around and have more drinks at restaurants after we eat, but we couldn’t wait to get out of there. Asked for the check, and even that took a long time. Will not be back anytime soon if at all.
It was incredible. The decor is amazing and the food was even better.
Cute place with great cocktails and food. Definitely going back.
Enjoyed our evening at Madison - the decor is very cool. The menu really has something for everyone. The wine list is good with moderate priced bottle options - The OPP is a great find! Our server was fun and knowledgeable. Will be back!!
Music way too loud even just to talk across the table
Great date spot. Drinks are well constructed.
The atmosphere is gorgeous, loved the decor and style.
I was there for brunch, I had the white bean Shakshuka with Carnitas. It was very flavorful! I had the orange pineapple kale mimosa, it was ok but I don’t think I would get that again.
The food and ambiance is great! but LOUD! LOUD! LOUD! If you want to have a conversation within the normal decibel range, you might want to talk before you get to the restaurant.
Great cockyails
