it was great! thank you!
Great place. We ended up with okay (not great) service. Food and ambiance was good. Very loud Saturday night.
Both food and service were great! Our table was available immediately upon arrival and our food arrived shortly after ordering.
The Madison was great and I enjoyed dining there for weekend brunch with my party of 4. We felt welcome and the food was excellent.
We enjoyed the dining experience
The food was the best we have ever tasted! Loved the experience
Will certainly be back
The jazz band was playing and it set the vibe for the entire place. Great ambiance, food, and drinks. Will probably return for a date night.
I celebrated my birthday with 15 of my closest friends and family, they were amazing, very friendly and very responsive. Tony was our waiter and he was awesome, always checking in to see if needed anything, always with a smile on his face, simply awesome, once we go back, because we are planning on returning for Brunch, we will definitely say hi to Tony.
Great music, awesome ambiance, amazing food and drinks, highly recommend it.
We had a little mishap (a plant fell on my friend) and our server was incredibly nice about it and more than made up for the incident on our bill.
pretty food that is a good portion size, nice for groups
The venue and craft cocktails are great however, service was very slow. Drink orders are even slower. Our dishes were sub par and could use some improvements. I would go again but maybe just for drinks.
Our waiter Steven was excellent! He was very attentive, and personable. We’ll be back.
The brunch menu is interesting and delicious! They have fun pairings that tackle sweet & savory.
The ambiance is awesome. It’s a bit louder but in my mind added to the experience.
The indoor outdoor experience at Madison was amazing. The interior design is one of a kind and the food and service were tremendous. I see now how its won so many awards for best brunch!
Came here for my Birthday with a large group, it did take a bit longer than expected to get seated but we were a large group and they were already accommodating last minute additions. Once seated everything was great, food was extremely fast our server was on it and got us out by the time we needed to be somewhere else. Food was amazing and the drinks are my favorite. All my friends loved it!!
Portions were a bit small , server was pressed for time and kinda disengaged .
Everything was delicious...servers where excellent...hope to return soon!
This place has always been cool and special and it's always been loud. Real. Loud. It draws large groups which is great for the restaurant but results in lots of shouting conversations. On this particular Tuesday night the place was packed, there were two large parties (15 plus guests) and to top it off a three piece band. The food and service are important but being able to have a conversation without screaming is important too. Acoustics, details, hospitality needs attention.
NOT SAFE FOR PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES!! I wanted to love this place but unfortunately, a BIG mistake was made, and the waitress and manager did not handle it well at all. I came with a small group on a bachelorette party from out of town and we were so excited. The bride has a severe dairy allergy and explained VERY CLEARLY to the waitress that there could be no dairy and no cross-contamination with her dish. The waitress assured her that what she ordered would be safe for her to eat. The bride ate a few bites and thought that she could taste butter, so she asked the waitress to check, and yes, the noodles were SOAKED in butter. No apology from the cook, the manager only came by to ask is she had told the waitress about the allergy (no apology from him either), and the waitress just acted like she didn't know what was going on. The bride had to leave dinner early, she was sick for 24 hours, ruining her bachelorette party that we all flew into SD for. This place was a total let down. Their staff should know how to handle allergies, and if they do mess up, the meal should have been comped. SUCH a bummer, won't go back.
Tony was one of the most friendly, attentive, and personable servers my boyfriend and I have had in a long time. We quickly saw to us once we were seated and apologized when our appetizer come out before the cocktails we had ordered, which was clearly not his fault - it was a busy Friday night and the bar, which is first come first serve/open, was PACKED. We had the skirt steak appetizer which was perfectly cooked and we both loved the chimichurri sauce. Our cocktails were also a steal for the price, they were both strong, but balanced in flavor; one of the best I've ever had.
I am dairy intolerant so finding a vegan marked item on the menu was wonderful. I may not be a vegan, but looking for vegan items makes it easier for me to eat out while minding what I can/cannot eat. And the garden vegetable ravioli may be the of the best dishes I have had in a restaurant in all of 2019. I could have eaten the marinara sauce on its own with a spoon - it was delicious! My boyfriend loved his carnitas pasta and the white cheddar mashed potatoes.
My only "complaint" is that even though we had a reservation for 6:45pm when the hostess sat us down at 7pm, she told us we had to be gone before 8pm because she needed our table back. It was just the strangest thing to say when I made a reservation. Never in my life has a hostess told me I had to be out of my seat by a particular time. And to expect us to be gone within an hour was well, her comment came off incredibly rude and was the topic of our conversation for a good half hour. Especially given that other tables were seated before us and remained in the restaurant when we left at 7:45pm - and yes, we did take our time eating dinner and enjoyed ourselves. We were able to leave in time for her to "get our table back" but if someone has a reservation, you shouldn't tell them when they need to leave.
The cocktails are amazing! The server knew the menu. She knew the cocktails well to match us a perfect pair to our dish. The noise level is a bit loud, but I didnt mind. It covered up our loud laughs that were shared at our table. I wish the drinks came out faster but maybe like all good things, making good drinks take time. I will definitely come to Madison again, and hope they always save the booth for our group. The booth is the best spot in the restaurant.
There was a group of 20 of us and the servers were attentive and allowed us to get individual checks.
This is an experience for sure. We got tarot cards and a little mini amethyst served with our cocktails AND not only did the kind waitress provide us with a book to look up what our card ment but you get to take your card and rock HOME. So worth it, such a fun experience and beautiful cozy restaurant .
We went to Madison for brunch on Sunday and it was fantastic. The design and ambiance is amazing, the service was fantastic and the food and cocktails were delicious. I would highly recommend the Madison for brunch and my friends and I agreed we will be back soon to try them again for lunch or dinner.
Great food, great service. A prefect combination of indoor and outdoor eating experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I've been a few times. I have to say, some of the best drinks in San Diego. Food is always on point. Staff is welcoming and friendly... I've never been disappointed.
Perfect experience! Gracious hosts. Delicious food. Beautiful atmosphere! Thanks!
Yum. Always a great place; stellar service from the bartender and server. Very accommodating!
In my modest opinion, there are very few restaurants in San Diego with truly good, well-prepared food. Madison is one of them. We don’t eat out often, but when we do we think of Madison. Best pork chop in town. And a beautiful setting.
Yum! Delicious brunch menu. Highly recommend the churro waffles and skirt steak Benedict.
Food is great...and nothing can beat the dining environment. Service is a bit slow.
The ambiance at Madison is amazing; it's beautiful and a bit noisy, which I didn't mind. Our drinks were amazing. I got the old fashioned and my wife got the Impeachmint, and they do not disappoint.
The food, however, is a completely different story. My parpardelle was really bland and boring. My wife's shish kabobs tasted more like fajitas than the traditional Mediterranean dish.
We would definitely go back for drinks, but not for dinner.
I love this place, but my last experience was not enjoyable. The food was below what I've come to expect from Madison and the service was terrible. Overall, I will go back because it is a great place.
Good and consistent. Drinks are the highlight of this place.
Fabulous anniversary dinner at Madison. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive.
The noise level was very high....so it was hard to talk even to the person across the table.
We enjoyed the restaurant and the food very much. Would recommend for sure.
Our experience was great however our server was slightly inattentive. My suggestion as a server my self is that she would’ve checked on us more as we were celebrating a birthday she could’ve gotten her check average up much higher. But overall the ambience was amazing they brought over a little Polaroid camera that was pretty much the best idea I restaurant could have so we thank you for that we just think that the waitress could’ve been a bit more attentive.
Food was bland and one dish was cold. Service was not the friendliest and not very attentive. Drink prices when we got the bill were more than listed on menu. The space is gorgeous and jazz night was a nice touch.
Fabulous people, great service, delicious food, fancy and creative drinks. We really enjoyed happy hour, dinner, and live music.
GREAT FOOD. THE SERVICE WAS OK, BUT THERE WAS SO MANY PEOPLE AND WE DID NOT RECEIVE AN EXCELLENT ATTENTION. TO LOUD
GREAT PLACE, THE CHICKEN WAS DELICIOUS
Fun neighborhood bar and restaurant. The happy hour lasts until 7 pm, which is great!
