Restaurant is located inside Rosewood Hotel. Valid parking is available in front of hotel. Valid service was very good.
I requested to decorate the dessert plate to celebrate my husband's birthday when I booked the table on OpenTable. We were greeted when we arrived. The hosts and our server all said happy birthday to him. They also personalized our menus (dinner menu). However, we opted for tasting menu to try the highlights of dinner menu. Server told us they try to change the menu as often as they could according to the fresh produces from local farmers market.
They have vegetarian tasting menu options. We found out because they brought us that menu by mistake. We're impressed that they actually offer vegetarian tasting menu which not too many restaurants would do that.
The wine list is something worth to mention. It is HUGE!!! It's like a phone book! I ordered an Irish cocktail (delicious) and my husband had a drab of Jameson whiskey. We also ordered half bottle of Pino Noir.
We liked all dishes they brought out. Complimentary bread was warm and really good as well. We got a complimentary baked oyster in between meals and it was delicious too. Even my husband isn't too fond of oysters said it was very good.
At the end of the meal, we got complimentary chocolate and 2 mini banana bread to take home. We had the banana bread with coffee the next morning and loved them.
We saw the couple next to our table was celebrating her birthday and the server brought her a dessert with a candle on it. But I think they forgot to do so for my husband. We both forgot about that too until we got home. Which is a bummer but no bigger. The good service made up the mistake.
Overall it was a really good meal with great service. We left the restaurant happy.
Very attentive, excellent service. Felt taken cared of during the entire lunch stay.
Food was rich and tasty. Appetizer choices have local and seasonal ingredients.
Desserts were exceptional, must try the bob bons.
Must reserve window seating as the view is amazing.
Restaurant is inside a hotel - 5 star decor and amenities.
The open kitchen ventilation could be better.
My husband and I went on date night here while in the area. This is a beautiful restaurant, well appointed not too dark. The waiter was very attentive and helpful in selecting a meal as well as the wine. The food was incredible and as we ate too much to add dessert they brought us a tiny little apricot sweet to round out the meal. I highly recommend you check it out. Judging from the look of the car and restaurant I am sure the rosewood hotel adjacent is also worth a stay.
The restaurant space is inviting, with lots of natural light and modern but warm decor in a beautiful hillside setting. Unfortunately, the sevice and food do not match the atmosphere. Small portions and mediocre food. I ordered the burger and was served cold fries, watery ketchup, three shriveled and flavorless pickled vegetables, and an average burger. Dessert did not make up for it—ice cold cappuccino and dry, mealy cream puffs. My dining companion ordered the scallops. Although her plate looked stunning, it amounted to three scallops and four curly leaves for $35.00!! Disgraceful. The staff were intrusive, coming by to try to take full plates and only half emptied drinks away every five minutes. Huge disappointment. Because of the lovely surrounds, might return for a simple drink on the patio or in the fireside lounge; otherwise, avoid.
So happy to have found Madera for future special occasions or maybe just outdoor drinks on a warm night. A bit pricey for everyday occasions. Elegant yet relaxed dining room, upscale service, inviting outdoor spaces, plenty of parking, and it appears there is valet parking as well during certain times. Raves for the melt-in-your-mouth focaccia bread at every table- come extra hungry so you can have more than one piece of that!
Great service and kid friendly for breakfast. Interesting Easter display
They've really been upping their game. The menu is always changing. I have allergy issues, and they're great about accommodating me.
The food was good, but not as good as a month ago. I had the duck which was fatty. The salmon was good. There should be better dessert selections. The food descriptions try to be creative, but they’re so overdone, it’s impossible to know what we’re ordering. Prices are high, no surprise. There was a table of 4 women in the corner whose outbursts were so wild, loud, and obnoxious, they upset 1/2 of the other diners. The wait staff either were oblivious (it is a generally loud restaurant) or didn’t care. Maybe the women were drunk? How rude!! But management didn’t ask them to tone it down. A few tables around us were annoyed, made comments saying they would never come back, and left. We were disgusted that they were ruining our evening and interrupting our conversation. After 9:00, the bar next door got so loud, we heard the noise in the restaurant. It felt like being in a low class place instead of a 5-Star Hotel. Sad, it seems to be poorly managed.
Highly recommend for any occasion!
The trout was awful!
Boyfriend and I came here for our 2nd year anniversary. We were impressed that on the menu, "Happy Anniversary" was printed for us. What a kind gesture! For starter, we picked the Squid Ink Tagliatelle, which included Kohlrabi, Dungeness Crab, Trout Roe, and Uni Butter.
The mains were AMAZING. Liberty Farms Duck Breast and King Salmon were the two that caught our eye, and they were so worth it. The duck was juicy with crispy skin, and wasn't greasy as all. I will judge a restaurant by the quality of their duck because growing up eating Peking Duck on special occasions with the family, duck quality will be scrutinized. Madera did a very impressive job with the duck, and I savored every bite of it. The salmon was heavenly and buttery! It melted in our mouths, it was incredibly tender, and the skin had a tasty, satisfying crunch to it. The turnips, wild onions, bonito, and the mustard-like sauce that went with it enhanced the flavor and taste perfectly.
For dessert, we had Citrus Cheese Cake and the Chocolate Earl Grey.
We even received a complimentary strawberry and white chocolate cake with a white chocolate oval enscribed with "Happy Anniversary." What a sweet complimentary treat! We were even surprised that after we signed our checks, they brought us two more little square cakes that looked like small cheesecake cubes. Not sure what these were for, since we already received the complimentary anniversary cake, but this was very kind of them to bring us as well.
For a total of $170.74 on the bill (not including tip, we tipped them 20% for the fantastic service and experience), this really was worth every penny! Thank you for the fantastic and memorable anniversary celebration, Madera! We will certainly be back for another occasion.
Terrific food and service. Awesome presentation and attentive knowledgeable staff.
This is such a wonderful restaurant. The food and service are top notch. Wine list is incredible. Dessert was delicious. Ribeye for 2 was cooked perfectly.
Service was rushed. About 4 minutes after our cocktails were served, came the first course. Since I had soup, I needed to consume it quickly. This is a restaurant that should recognize that people would like to have a leisurely meal and not feel they need to be in an out in 45 minutes. It did not appear that they had people waiting, so I am not sure why service was so hurried. I didn't finish my cocktail, until I had finished my main course. While I usually have wine with dinner, there was no time.
Hosting my Uncle!
This review is based on a dinner date on a Saturday night. The restaurant has great ambiance and the food was excellent. We shared the Squid Ink Tagliatelle for starters, my wife had the Oak Grilled Beef Tenderloin and I got the Liberty Farms Duck Breast for our entrees. The duck was the best - the skin was so flavorful and the meat so delicious. We had the Chocolate Earl Grey for dessert and that was excellent too. The portions are just enough for both of us. It's worth the drive and the tab. Highly recommended!
The Valentines prefix menu was as close as you’d get to a Chefs tasting menu. The wine paring is a must since they are known for an extensive list.
This restaurant has improved considerably since last time. It deserves it Michelin one star
They completely rushed our meal. I wasn’t even done eating my plate and the next one was coming, at one point the waiter pulled my half eaten plate away from me. This is after I told someone else I wasn’t done. Really bad service for a restaurant of this caliber. Good food not good service. When you spend this much money you want savor the food and finish your wine, guess they had something else in mind.
Absolutely loved this restaurant and experience. The dessert option called “The Olympics” was especially memorable. 6 bonbons from the past 6 Olympics with curated ingredients of each nation who hosted the games. It even came with a little guide book! So much fun. I can’t forget the scrumptious, buttery, scallops I had too!
Excellent restaurant. Fantastic food and service. I’ll return.
Great ambience! Really tasty and great quality food. Everything is spectacular! 💯% 👌
Great food and service. It was a first class dining experience. It will be a place we go back to in the future.
The food was mostly terrific, as was the service. The only downfall was when I mentioned to the server that my beef tenderloin was not cooked to how I ordered it, there was no offer of addressing the issue. That said, even though it was cooked medium, it was still pretty tender, so I didn't want to make a scene. I just expected something more from a Michelin star restaurant.
The whole trout was presented beautifully but bland and taste like mud. For some reason the dishes for the past several occasions keep disappointing. So much attention on the look but the taste actually nothing special. I really like this place as an ideal location for business lunch meetings or dinner with family but the food need to improve.
Worst dining experience of my life. Service was slow and down right rude. At one point I overheard a waiter complaining about serving people! I guess they don’t think they are in the service business. Staff needs to be trained and probably the management too. Too bad such an ideal location can come up to par.
Another wonderful time @ Madeira for lunch with friends.......
Everything was great including our waiter except for the host at the front booth. I arrived at 11:20 am (reservation at 11:30 am for 2 people) and they would not allow us to sit down even though I saw most of the tables were ready to be served. This is really disappointing and with a business partner, we have to stand at the door to wait.
First visit to this Rosewood - London Rosewood absolutely brilliant. I'd be amazed if this isn't the best hotel and restaurant for miles around. Very good service, all the staff friendly and helpful (sommelier Rachel outstanding in this respect) and the setting is stunning. Obviously food not quite up to level of London Rosewood (exec Chef Amandine there one of most famous in France, and Sommelier Michael one of best in London) but if you're not flying 5,000+ miles for dinner (as I am tonight!) this is a great choice!
Had an AMAZING dinner with My Love, for our 6month Anniversary. Everything was PERFECT!!! It was the “fairy tale dinner that she’d always dreamed of” (her words). I can’t thank the Madera enough for such a great evening. The food was excellent, the wine was fantastic, and our waiter Alex, was the best waiter I’ve ever had at any restaurant anywhere. My Love had the duck, which she LOVED, and even though it’s not on the dinner menu, my waiter Alex still got me the burger. It was great! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND everybody to visit this place, and if you do, ask for Alex Arani to be your waiter. You WON’T be sorry.
It Sucked big time. Tiny portions, mediocre food, have had better at McDonald’s
Outstanding experience as always
We enjoyed our experience tremendously! Looking forward to returning very, very soon...
The experience was wonderful from beginning to the very end. I had an AMAZING time! 😀
Madera is always a good place for a business meal. Food is good (and improving); service is always top notch, and the setting and ambiance is excellent. I use Madera often for both breakfast and lunch, and it never misses.
I appreciate how well they accomodated our friends' young children in addition to providing excellent overall service.
Outstanding ambiance and elegant dining. Service was mediocre, had to wait for wine service, and check, not attentive waiter. Food good to excellent but portions too small for price. Excellent dessert. Will give it another try, but a bit too pretentious for my taste. Noise level acceptable.
It would be nicer if you could provide more vegetarian-safe options on the menu. I would struggle to recommend your restaurant for anyone I know that’s a vegetarian or a vegan.
We've been to Michelin Star restaurants. Madera is a wanna-be.
Madera at the Rosewood Hotel is a very nice classy restaurant with excellent service. The menu was preprinted with the occasion & there was a special menu for children with healthy food options. Parking is great with valet service. I would recommend it for celebrating a special occasion. A memorable experience.
