I had a great birthday experience there. They made everything so personal. Really glad I went there for my birthday dinner.
Loved the views of the hills! We had planned on eating outside, but the hostess told us the yellow jackets were bad- glad we decided to eat inside! We had brunch and enjoyed everything we tried, though the panzanella salad with stone fruit was definitely the highlight.
Ate outside; perfect evening!
Nothing impressive especially server's knowledge of the menu at least from someone from same industry. However still will keep going and recommending the beautiful patio but not the restaurant.
Service was superb!! I have celiac they were very attentive. It is noisy but we had a table in the corner back and it wasn’t too bad. My Mom is hard of hearing (without hearing aides) but she could hear. View is amazing!! One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. My Mom is a tough customer and she was very pleased.
Israel is the best Waitress! Amazing service
Rude and obnoxious valet staff if you are trying to valet and charge your car — but other than that, the restaurant food is ok.
Halibut on the menu is really good, fig salad so so with all the fatty white stuff (cream cheese??) underneath all that delicate salad. Service at restaurant is stellar and wait staff super nice and knowledgeable. The restaurant can really use a wider selection of wine by the glass.
Amazing place! Some of the best food and service in Silicon Valley - totally worth a trip to have lunch, brunch or dinner in the area.
Madera was very good. The service was excellent and they tried very hard to accommodate my dietary restrictions. The only cons were parking and corkage fee.
On a "warm-enough" day, there could be no more beautiful place to be for brunch, lunch, or wine with light eats in the mid-late afternoon, on the patio. If you consider that you are paying about 40% -- 50% of the tab for the privilege of the exquisite surround, then IMO, Madera is fairly priced. It is significant that most of the special occasion times I have been there, the place is crowded with business diners, where the company is most-likely picking up the tab, or at least the meals are deductible on Schedule B!
Michelin stars don't come easily, and Madera deserves theirs. Two of us shared a salad with awesome, succulent, bourbon-soaked peaches, followed by individual entrees: a duck confit (presented with more of same peach slices) and a caesar salad with prawns (also succulent). The tab, including tip, was $163 with a shared dessert. My chardonnay, the least expensive of the glasses offered at $19, was only so-so, but the next-up price for a glass was $30.
Go for the ambience and excellent, but not outstanding, food. Oh yes, must mention that our server was most uninspired: no smiles, mixed up who got what both with wine and entree. Maybe he'd had a fight with a loved one that morning, but with everything else so classy, he was a misfit!
Madera is officially my favorite restaurant in the Bay Area after moving here in 2018. I took my wife there for her birthday and my wife and I took dear friends their for their birthdays. Madera always does such a a great job making people feel special on their birthdays. Personalized menus, group photos, special deserts and of course their wonderful food, attentive service and stunning patio ambience!
Two of our party of four (including me) ordered Cobb salad and tomatoes in it were spoiled! How could Michelin restaurant do that? We live nearby but not sure if I want to come back after this time. Also the portion was small even it was under the main course section...
Valet parking was a surprise and welcome. Food was wonderful. I had the tri tip for the first time and it was delicious. Just enough food, too.
Great services! Great food and amazing wine collection. It was a bit noisy at the balcony, as its close to a main road
In one case, the wrong food was delivered. Cobb salad was dull. Other item were fine, but not spectacular.
Noise level was VERY high.
Waiters were very good.
A really nice place for business lunch or personal..Food is excellent..The homemade bread fantastic..
Excellent service. Enjoyed the variety of options on the menu. The wine list was extensive. Went there for my birthday and they made it extra special.
Could have used one more protein in the tasking menu.
The choice for vegetarian food is very very limited. I’ve talked to other people who are vegetarian and their experience is the same. Our guest was from New York, but we failed to impress him except for the ambience. Sadly, I would not go back there again.
My friend and I were both celebrating our birthdays at lunch. The restaurant knew that, and we each had "Happy Birthday" printed on our menu. We enjoyed the cauliflower soup and our respective salads, the fig and the cobb. When we rejected our first glass of chardonnay, the server was nice to bring out a comparably priced bottle to replace it. We ordered the amazing SF Bay Area chocolate bon bons for dessert. They brought those AND the cornmeal cake and macarons desserts, with candles! Plus, the hostess took a photo of us on her Polaroid, which she dated and gave to us with one of the HB menus in a plastic envelope. Nice touch! There were some long delays and a wait for the bill. That was the only downside from a wonderful lunch experience on my birthday.
This 1 Michelin star restaurant deserves another star or two. Every dish was extraordinarily delicious. We have a new favorite and will go back again and again. If you are interested in incredibly delicious cuisine, look no farther. We have eaten at many of the bay area's best restaurants, and this one is one of the very best!
It was very pleasant but the menu is very limited.
The food was good, overall, but definitely overpriced. We had the halibut, which was very well prepared and the duck, which wasn’t as well prepared. The wines are ridiculously overpriced. Service was excellent. Probably will not return.
we are coming back...!.....great service...loved our table by the fireplace...
Food was ok. My expectation was Michelin one star. But apparently the star was given for the amazing view from the balcony.
Had a reservation for 1:30pm and we were seated at that time. The food is consistently outstanding at Madera, as was the case again today. However, part of an outstanding dining experience is the service. Unfortunately, after we were served, the server NEVER returned once to see if everything was okay or if we wanted more water or another glass of wine or anything! Finally our server showed up with a dessert menu which we declined and he was never seen again. Finally, my friend left the table to find someone to ask for our bill. Absolutely disappointing and detracted from what would have been a wonderful lunch experience. I do plan to return as I like the food and atmosphere, but I wanted to make sure management is aware that service must be consistent with each and every customer!
Madera within the Rosewood property is a welcoming and beautiful dining environment. The staff are all professional and friendly, and make you feel that they personally want to ensure that you have an excellent dining experience. The fig salad as well as the kale salad were wonderful and delicious. The add on of chicken was the only slight disappointment. Not undercooked but the skin was rubbery and lacked crispiness that I would’ve expected. The rose’ we ordered was the only one by the glass but it was refreshing and perfect as an accompaniment to our lunch. The warm bread and the butter was enjoyed and always a good starter...I’ll be back.
Madera made my birthday very special (not sure how they knew but maybe OpenTable?) and the meal was delicious.
It was my husband special birthday we were with wonderful friends. While the ambience is lovely all of us were very disappointed in the quality and the taste and the serving size of the food. For the price and the elegant setting the food preparation presentation and spacing really needs to be reviewed an upgraded. We will not come back
All four of us agreed that it was very mediocre. The salad leaves were wilted although the dressing was delicious. The steak was tasteless my halibut was served cold the sauce was good but the portion was extremely tiny and disappointing with no side color. We ordered broccolini on the side which was good but uninspired.
Madera is always a wonderful meal. Our food was excellent and so was the service. Everyone from the hostess to our waiter to the person who helped clear the table and top up waters was extremely accommodating. I even mentioned my friend’s birthday in passing, and they brought her a special dessert in addition to the dessert we ordered. It’s the special attention to detail that makes this place more than just a place to get a good meal.
The restaurant manager is rude and not helpful at all!
Food is ok!
My salad was not worth $23..........it did not have a lot of flavor....and was
small in size. The Hamburger was $25...........my friend did enjoy it, however.
Small dessert was $20............we all feel that all prices are too high.
The tritip in a pita with horseradish slaw was delicious. My companion had a lovely vegetarian dish - brassicas with curry - that she said was also delicious. The server was attentive and described many of the dishes on the menu.
Had an awesome birthday time at Madera ... the service was great, food really tasty and looking great too. The best part was the Madera bonbon collection chocolate box for dessert! Absolutely recommend it
The food was phenomenal. Beautiful presentation, really delicious. Impressive wine list. Felt like good value for money.
Great service and food, amazing wine list, and outside dining was delightful
Way overpriced. Slow service. Would bother going back.
Perhaps the best restaurant I have ever been to! Addictive bread, melt in your mouth steak tartar, amazing diver scallops. Service was outstanding. Views from veranda were quintessential NorCal.
The service felt quite rushed which was disappointing as I have always experienced just the opposite.
