The burgers were cooked perfectly. The wine list selection was amazing. Plate of cookies for dessert was outstanding
The server was superb. We will definitely be back
Everything from the food, service to the view was outstanding! Thank you!
Ever time I go I have such a wonderful experience. The food changes constantly, so that it is a new experience every time. The wine book. I do mean book. Has fabulous wine. Affordable to not affordable. The wait staff if friendly and knowledge able. The chefs are amazing. I had an issue with my risotto and they fixed it with a smile and no complaint. To me that is wonderful to see and experience.
Everything was perfect! Lovely dinner!
I met a business colleague for lunch. We had a very nice meal. The service was excellent, the cauliflower soup was o.k. and the Cobb salad was excellent. The atmosphere at Madera is always very good. All in all, a very nice lunch.
A bit pricey but the food and atmosphere and amazing views make up for it!
Wonderful service and delicious food. Smaller portions help you save room for scrumptious desserts! It’s just a little louder than I’d like for a party of 2. Hard to hear each other amongst larger groups. The high ceilings make it nosier I think.
Meals are very small (but excellent), and there are no sides available to order. Get an appetizer for sure. Dessert was just ok, wouldn't recommend it.
The atmosphere and service were great! We went there for a dinner with my wife and really enjoyed siting outside in a quite place. The food was very good, however the portions size was extremely small. We don't eat a lot, but for us a shared appetizer and main entry per each person were not enough. We spend a lot of money, but left restaurant quite hungry.
In conclusion I would say the food is great, but doesn't justify the price and size. Next time I would go there for a bar only.
We celebrated a birthday lunch in front of the fireplace and were treated like royalty. From the Happy Birthday and balloons printed on our menus, to the complimentary dessert, to the Polaroid of our celebration, and the first class food, it was an unforgettable and delightful visit. Top notch service, sublime asparagus and smoked trout salad, perfect french fries with a juicy cheeseburger, flavorful winter squash soup poured over dollops of creamy yoghurt and dried cranberries with a granola crunch. We shared the Madera bon bon plate which is a trip around northern CA from the red wine chocolate representing Napa, to the apple truffle symbolizing Silicon Valley and the brilliant blue sea salt truffle highlighting the bay in the Bay Area. Experience it!
my husband brought me here for my birthday dinner and we had an amazing evening with wonderful food & drink. the ambiance, decor, and service were stellar! the property that this restaurant sits on is absolutely stunning and we would like to come back during the daytime (on a warmer, sunnier day) to stroll the grounds. great place to celebrate a special occasion with a dear friend or loved one.
Madera never disappoints. Great food, awesome wine list, attentive staff. Never had a dish that missed there. Every visit has been just a wonderful experience.
Such a wonderful experience at Madera. Went for our 7 year anniversary and the staff took so many extra steps to make it special. First, getting well wishes from front desk staff as soon as we checked in. Then, free sparkling wine upon seating. Then, a message of Happy Anniversary on our menus. Then, complimentary dessert with an anniversary message. And THEN! a free photo of our evening along with a copy of our menus. Not to mention that the food was fabulous. Yes, the food menu is small, but everything was delicious and they clearly do it well. Beautiful ambience with high wooden ceiling. Just gorgeous.
Everything was spot-on, exceeding our expectations.
Always a special place. Terrific staff who treat guests as if they are special, making Madera a wonderful place to spend an evening or lunch.
We had a great lunch. Hope for more vegetarian entrees in the future!
Has always been a special place, but I love the new executive chef.
The service and good is impeccable at this restaurant. The location and ambiance is superb with an unbeatable view of the mountains and tress alongside HYW 280. The location is very exclusive and quiet. Great place to dine.
Nice restaurant, but from a Michelin Starred level, based on experience of others
I guess their chef left with a bunch of experienced waiters, dinner serving is a little bit messy and chaotic. There’s no more tasting menu, only 7 appetizers and 5 entrees.
Patrick is a good manager though, you tried, it’s not your fault.
Really spectacular experience at Madera! Food options are unique and delicious! Staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. Great customer service!! Loved spending our weekend here and have the opportunity to eat several meals here. Thank you!
Really spectacular experience at Madera! Food options are unique and delicious! Staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. Great customer service!! Loved spending our weekend here and have the opportunity to eat several meals here. For this dinner we also had the opportunity to meet the Somm Paul, he was very knowledgeable and included us in our delicious wine journey! Can’t thank you enough!!
Food was ok
Great food in great location. Excellent wine list
We recently had an anniversary dinner at Madera. Although the menu is not large, it has a nice variety of offerings and every dish we ordered (2 appetizers, salad, 2 entrees) was superb! The sommelier made a great wine suggestion, which we had not previously tried and it was magnificent. The servers were attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant provided complimentary Proseco and desert, which was also a very nice touch. We will definitely make dinner there a more frequent event! I highly recommend.
Almost paradise...but not quite. The current menu is sparse, expensive and uncreative. But it is good, just not extraordinary. The location is wonderful, especially from the terrace which offers captivating views of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
The staff are superb, cordial and professional, knowing when to be at your side but never intervening without being asked.
The dining room is large and it too is sparse allowing for sounds to cascade, nay ricochet off the glass windows unceasingly which at first is a distraction but after your first drink one accepts it as an unending roar that one must overcome for conversation to be heard by the person next to you or across from you.
In the end you will say that you enjoyed yourself but be unable to describe why.
A larger selection of food. Your wine/spirit list is outstanding, but you need more beef, chicken and sea food selection.
Your dessert list can also be improved.
Wonderful wine list
Some dishes soar, chickory salad, truffle risotto, salmon entree
Other dishes need work, Ribeye for 2, preparation and presentation were excellent. The quality of the
ribeye meat was below standard for the price point. $120.00 I could not cut the tough slices and asked for sharper knife. I understand that ribeye is fat marbled, this piece was 65% fat and not could not be
eaten. Bread was stale and cold, served on warm stones?
Amazing attentive service
Had a very disappointing lunch at Madera. When we were seated, the bus boy asked if we’d like tap water or sparkling. We said tap plus an iced tea and a hot tea with warm cream. 5 minutes later, the iced tea arrived. Another 5 minutes and we said you forgot the hot tea and warm cream. Eventually the hot tea came. Still no water, still no warm cream. We asked a third time for water and warm cream and this time they finally brought a pitcher of cream but it was iced cold. My guest gave up. Three requests at a Michelin one star restaurant and they cannot handle something this easy??? Then they brought a basket of bread. They evidently stopped the wonderful focaccia and other soft bread they have had for a few years (we are frequent diners) and replaced it with boring whole wheat bread you could get anywhere. Their bread has always been awesome. So disappointing! The Cobb salads were great as always and we sat a long while at the table so gave the server 25-30% tip since we took the table. This was not the experience we expect when we pay $18 for a salad and $7 for tea...
Superb service: however, the chef destroyed the meal by salsifying the meat - short ribs. On the other hand, the soup and desserts were excellent.
We normally have lunch at the Madera and will probably continue to do so but it is unlikely we we try dinner there again.
Christian and Andrea were wonderful. They made a bad experience better. Madera did the right thing in not charging us for the short ribs. Also, one of our friends order of duck breast came undercooked and had to be returned for more cooking
Great service and delicious food. Octopus dish was tender and delicious. A5 Wagyu was like b.u.t.t.e.r, super delicious. The cheese plate for dessert was so so, nothing special. The fresh fruit plate (berries) was a fantastic choice.
The wine selection recommended by Sommelier was horrible. Don’t even remember the wine recommendation but $100 bottle bottle of wine, so sour and tasted like a sub $10 cheap wine. Really need a better selection of Red wine at Madera. They have two wine Sommeliers here and still can’t get it right. ps. Nickel and Nickel Merlot by the glass is nice ($35/glass).
Wonderful meal, beautiful room! We were spending the evening at the Rosewood as our daughter lives in the area and invited some local friends to join us. Great service, extensive (I mean really extensive!) wine list and helpful sommelier. All the starters and entrees were wonderful. I had the field greens (fresh and perfectly dressed) and the duck breast, which was fabulous, cooked to perfection. The best entree may have been the black truffle risotto, pretty amazing! It is not an inexpensive meal, but the value was pretty reasonable given the very, very high quality of the food and attentive service. Great splurge dinner if you are in the area, I know it gets a lot of use for business dinners as well given the location in the heart of the VC world.
Good place near Silicon Valley
We are frequent guests for business and pleasure. Friendly, courteous staff at all levels from sommelier to waitstaff to table attendants to valets. Always a terrific experience!
It is a nice environment and one is able to sustain a conversation with low noise level. However, the food was only mediocre, as was the service. For a high price restaurant, one expects better.
The waiters were very respectful and accommodating however some items needed to be asked for more than once. Some of the hot food was served lukewarm at best and I would not reorder the coffee. The food was tasteful and I have had better luck on other visits.
I have been to Madera quite a few times. This is the first time, after they got their Michelin star. Food was good, creative, appetizer portions are small. As always plating is beautiful. Every one enjoyed their proteins: the duck breast, my fish and my friend's truffle risotto. Truffle shaving was generous. But this is the first time, I didn't get a customer copy of the receipt. It was after splitting the bill 3 ways. I thought it was suspicious so I snapped a picture of the signed merchant copy. And I was over charged. It was petty because it was just by a couple of dollars BUT it was a disappointing behavior for such a good restaurant. The waiter we had this time at Madera was also the least attentive we had. Service has gone down. He saw him at most 2x over the entire night. Of course the bread, water was filled frequently, and the courses came quickly. The waiter has no idea we visit Madera fairly often. Disappointing.
Food was excellent, service was great!
Always a pIeasure
