About
Absolutely shameful. Made this reservation over a month ago on Open Table and they turned us away at the door since they apparently rented the place out to a large party and never bothered to cancel our reservation. What a huge disappointment. You should be ashamed.
We arrived 30 minutes early for our adjusted reservation and were asked to wait at the bar. We were never sat even though there were tables open the entire time we were there. This poor treatment felt homophobic and racially motivated.

Underwhelmed.
Amazing good and atmosphere. New fave spot for early dinner.
Food was excellent. Had the sea bass on cauliflower rice which was a little pricey for the size of the fish but it was delicious. The roasted carrots and the goat cheese raviolis were super tasty and both were a good sized portion. Overall, we were very pleased with our meal. I had the Belgian White Alagash on tap which was also very tasty and my hubby got a hot toddy which is nice when a bartender will make that for you. We ate at 9pm so it was very quiet. Patio had heaters so it wasn’t nice to sit outside. However all of the plants were completely dead or almost dead which was very odd. That killed the ambiance. Nonetheless we would definitely return.
Made a reservation, showed up to the restaurant and there was a private event. Didn’t get a text or a call warning us.
Madera Kitchen was very accommodating. My 4 SisStars and I are Vegetarians and were able to order delicious dishes. The Kale Salad, Brussel Sprouts dish, Mushroom Ravioli and Vegan Pasta was heavenly yummy! I will be eating there again..
they cancelled cause they had a private event
If I could rate the food zero I would - don’t waste your money. The meat was tough and minuscule given the price! Will never go again.
I check out the restrooms and I found that the restroom to not clean.
This restaurant was excellent! We went there after seeing a show in the nearby theater, with it being Sunday evening we were the only ones inside. The staff was friendly, the food was excellent, and the ambience is great. It did take a little while for us to get our place settings and our initial waters, which seems strange since were the only people inside the restaurant. I even made reservations, and it seemed as though either they didn’t know or they had forgotten. I would highly recommend the prosciutto wrapped watermelon, the brussels sprouts, the wild boar pasta, and the ravioli. They also have an excellent drinks list and menu. We will certainly be returning.
Disappointing since I live in Franklin Village and was seeking out a new local place to frequent. The service was pretty good, although for a Saturday night they only had one server for the entire patio.
We planned on sitting inside but it was extremely stuffy in there so we opted for a patio table.
We ordered two cocktails off the menu but after 20 minutes we were told that one of them couldn’t be made because they didn’t have the ingredients.
We pointed out that the candle on our table wasn’t lit (like everyone else’s was) and the server noted it but never came back to light it.
We ordered the yellowtail appetizer — which didn’t look like yellowtail - it looked and tasted like tuna.
We ordered the flatbread with burrata cheese but expected fresh burrata and instead we got melted chewy mozzarella.
The watermelon wrapped in prosciutto was just ok.
The server comped one cocktail and overly-apologized and I told him it’s not his fault that the food isn’t that good.
OVERALL DISAPPOINTING — we will not be returning.
The restaurant is very nice, open and clean. Food was tasty. Someone that works for the restaurant had a dog with them and it would not stop barking. Also, towards the end, it seems our waitress lost interest in us. We had asked for a coke and she forgot and brought it maybe 15 minutes later. It took even longer to get the check.
most seating areas were uncomfortable, all hard wood benches and the music was too loud, we had to raise our voices to hear eachother but the service was wonderful and the food pretty good.
Food was above par.
I love going to madera every Sunday with friends and family food is great staff is great clean area went on my birthday thought the DJ was going to be there but no music.
Unfortunately, I was not able to experience the place since my reservation was canceled the day of due to a “private event”. My reservation was at 9:30pm and I was texted at 5pm about the cancellation. I made the reservation the day prior and I think if you knew you had a “private event” you would block said day out. I was told via text the online system doesn’t work properly.(So, between phone and internet were do your reservations come through the most, I wonder?) Not only was it inconvenient, inconsiderate for the rest of the people who also made reservations for that evening but, disappointing seeing that is was suppose to be a birthday dinner for my boyfriend. I was offered via text “a cocktail” on them. One, Cocktail.
The only criticisms I have are that the tables we tested about 4, were all wobbly on the garden side where the fireplace is so it made us a bit nervous. We got our appetizer (Brussels sprouts) and before we could even serve ourselves our entree came out so when I tried my ravioli, it was a little cold. But I loved the mushroom ravioli and Brussels! Delicious!! Service was very attentive and the bartender was very nice even when I accidentally spilled a full glass of water on the bar while I waited for my date to arrive.
We had a reservation for 3pm on Sunday. When we arrived 15 minutes early, the hostess said the restaurant was closed for a wedding. We were turned away even though we had a reservation. We drove an hour and a half to eat at this restaurant.
Fantastic food and service. Brussels Sprouts especially good.
Service was a bit slow on the drinks side. But might be isolated. Food and ambiance is nice
Best kept secret in LA! Loved everything about this place
Dani our waiter was amazing!! Food was great, drinks were fabulous, and the ambience was perfect! Will definitely be going back!
We arrived to an extremely unenthusiastic hostess. She barely addressed us and seemed annoyed from the minute we arrived. Once we had been seated it took about 15 minutes or so before we saw a server. They restaurant maybe had about 3 tables at the time. The food was mediocre and wasn’t what we expected. It took quite some time for the food to arrive and nothing was cooked as it was supposed to be. I’m not trying to be critical but I’m the executive chef of a restaurant myself and I was extremely disappointed with the experience.
Food was terrific this time. Service was solid. Great outdoor patio dining.
Great ambiance. Poor service. The food was delicious, but they need to update their menu on Open table. I made my reservation there because of the Raw oysters i saw in the Open Table menu, but when I got there, the waitress told me she was not aware of any oysters being serviced there. I was disappointed, but I tried their Prosciutto with watermelon and basil - delicious. The kale salad was also very good and perfect on the dressing. The Moscow Mule was half off and perfect.
Food extremely salty and greased.
Quality of meat OK, but one came cold.
Cute ambiance, terrible food.
Great happy hour and service! Love the patio seating area near the fire place.
Loved the ambience and our waiter made some great suggestions for dinner.
Amazing restaurant, fabulous ambiance, great service and fantastic food. If we come back to LA we’ll definitely be back here.
Our favorite neighborhood date night spot! The food is amazing, the staff is great and friendly, and the atmosphere is everything you could want!
The food was not great, especially for the price. I definitely would not go back.
Always a pleasure to have Sunday Brunch at Madera, we Love the environment and the people
Thanks
Great vibe
Atmosphere was great. Service was really slow, there was only one waiter for the whole side of the restaurant. Food took a long time, and when it finally arrived nothing special. Great for atmosphere, bad for food & service.
Terrible service and the resturant was empty. No excuse for a long wait for food, drinks and no follow up. Food was average...very cute space.
The best part of the restaurant was the host! He was very friendly and helpful. Other than that we didn't have anything good to say. We made reservations to have Easter Sunday brunch. You'd think making a reservation would mean we'd have a decent table. But the only tables open were inside in the dark. Eventually we moved outside. Waited a looooong time for food to arrive. Drinks were wrong. Food was ok. I think it's a bit of a tourist trap of a restaurant due to it's location. Much better places out there for the price point.
Restaurant was empty. Drinks were weak. The food was overpriced and just not good at all.
Everything we had was flavorful and outstanding. Outdoor patio ambiance by a fire pit sort of situation was also great. Server was so personable. Great experience and want to return!
