Who could resist the multiple sensory pleasures of Korean barbecue: the spicy, salty flavors and the combination of textures and temperatures(crisp lettuce juxtaposed with succulent grilled meat and fish), not to mention the hands-on fun of going through a pile of lettuce leaves, wrapping your own individual little barbecue “tacos” and popping them into your mouth.
Good value, particularly lunchtime
This is my first time coming with a large group and everything was great. Everything we needed was taken care of right away and the food was delicious as always.
My favorite Korean BBQ joint in K-Town. It's pricey, though not as much as some of the other places, yet still a no frills, down and dirty, LET'S EAT, wonderland. Amazing food. Amazing bon chan (sides), good service. Every time I go I enter this euphoric happy place. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I wish portions of meat were a little bigger for the cost, but to get better prices you'll have to leave Manhattan and find an outer borough spot. Still gets two thumbs up from me!
An authentic Korean dining experience with helpful staff to explain the food. Prices are definitely not below $30 a person. A better expectation is $50 a person (all in with tip). That said, the food was delicious and filling. We had two orders of the Bulgogi and shared Korean Pancake.
Great food, great service , plum wine went down a treat
I couldn’t decide between the Hot Pot and the Bimbimbop, but the waitress explained the differences to me...I ordered the Hot Pot and it was excellent.
My friends ordered 3 dishes that were cooked at the table, short ribs and boneless short ribs, then explained how we were to build the wraps. Very helpful
The food is really good and plenitful. Really very good ...
We had pork dish and cold noodle and beef dish that were excellent and they bring a whole bunch of savory apps to the table. ITT am experience
Great atmosphere, food, and service, until they tried to charge us an extra $80 for a dish we didn’t get!
Excellent Korean BBQ. A bit pricey but delicious. All the beef seemed very high quality and they served a nice variety of side dishes with it. Korean pancake and homemade dumplings also excellent.
We ordered appetizers and mains. Before they came, the restaurant gave us a bunch of tastings! All delicious! We will definitely be back!
Great galbi and jap chae; good pa jun; sundubu jigae was a little mild for my taste, but you can get it with kimchi.
My dining companion was very late and I sat there taking up a table at lunchtime for 15 minutes without ordering but no one bothered me or complained. Can’t take that for granted at a small, busy restaurant! Food came quickly when we did order and was quite good. I loved one of the side dishes, whipped yam with honey and mustard. Definitely a restaurant I will keep in rotation!
Server was not very helpful in explaining how to order, what would be prepared at the table, how much to order, etc. Food was just ok, and it’s very loud. Lots of groups of friends and large parties who were enjoying the experience. It is what is.
Food was fine, not above average in any way. Service was just OK and not particularly helpful. Zero ambiance, which is fine, but bathrooms were kind of nasty. This place is wayyyy too expensive ($75 per person all in for our dinner) for the experience.
Such great bbq! Loved the 2 person marinated beef special. Get the pancake appetizer! SO much Bonchon!
Made reservations for Mother's day. It was not needed, that place was pretty much empty. The prices are not $30 and under if you're planning on getting any meat to place on the grill. Food was it was ok, cut was a little on the fatty side. Their skit steak was tough and they don't marinate it, which I think they should. Ordered a dumpling soup which was good and came out hot, perfect for the cold day. Service was good they were very nice and defiantly kept an eye on the meat for you while you ate. Overall nothing really impressing, good for a casual setting.
Very good food, quality and service. Had the beef combination platter as well as the seafood platter. Attentive waitress that night as well as the busboys.
Would wish the noise level be lower though.
Food was tasty and the service was good.
Good, solid Korean food. They take reservation, so you don’t need to wait for one hour in line like other Korean restaurant. It’s a big plus!
The food quality was okay - even with the marinade it was pretty bland. Half the fun of KBBQ is doing a little of the grill work yourself, this place does not let you do that. Service was okay, nobody was mean or rude but nobody was happy to have you either. Overall it was a pretty mediocre experience; there’s nothing about the experience that would compel my dinner companions or me to recommend this place or return to it.
Reservations were easy to book, that’s probably the only highlight and the only reason I would return if I couldn’t get reservations at any other KBBQ on short notice.
Food was fine but atmosphere was lacking
Super fresh and beautifully fully prepared Korean bbq with amazing sides and condiments! The kimchi soup is delicious, the seafood pancake is a great appetizer and the steamed meat dumplings are flavorful and amazingly light. Service was attentive and helpful. Our family of 3 loved our lunch visit to Madangsui and would certainly return.
Arrived to be greeted by a very friendly lady who promptly seated me with my guest. Shortly after another smiling staff member arrived to offer us the menu and take a drink order. The staff are present but not hovering and all were very friendly and helpful.
Food was good but not nothing to write home about. Fairly small portions of meat accompanied with multiple small dishes of pickled or spicy vegetables. Pretty standard fare.
I thought the price was a bit strong for the amount of food served.
Prepare to smell like a Korean grill after departing.
Wonderful staff / small portions / strong prices.
Very tasty marinated meat combo
I love Madangsui.
I dine there whenever I’m in the city.
The food and service are awesome.
First time there, and took my son and my sister for dinner. Loved the food. Banchan was plentiful, tasty and provided a wide variety of flavors and textures. Japchae was one of the best in midtown. Bulgogi and other bbq items were super...flavorful, fresh, tender...and the server was expert in her cooking skills. I also loved how open the spacing was between tables. We never felt crowded, cramped or rushed. Will definitely be back!
Second visit, just as awesome as the first. Delicious offerings and fantastic service. Highly authentic.
Always the best in the area.
True authentic Korean BBQ. Walking in you should expect efficient service, in a homely establishment. Staff is very friendly.
Fun place, great food, a little too too.much light for a Saturday night
Felt rushed, in and out in under an hour with bill on table as we put down our chopsticks,
Very good quality beef that is served for Korean BBQ. Do not recommend the Korean stir fried noodles (jap chae) as it was too greasy but everything else was great! Would definitely go back for more BBQ.
Although the waitress introduced the great food, but the service she provided was not expected, never change dishes, don’t ask us to add Korean dishes like kimchi, fish cake....when saw the dish is empty, never come to add hot tea or water. Never take away any empty dishes, The staff there talking very loud, not a good service restaurant.
COMPLETE RIPOFF. Ordered the $90 combo for two and only got enough food for one not very hungry person. Food was good, but there are many places just as good nearby that'll cost you half as much for twice the amount. Service is standard, ambiance nothing to write home about. I could recommend this place if it slashed it's prices in half. Until then, will NOT be returning and would NOT recommend.
The food was good. There were a few servers who were friendly but overall the servers were not nice. The value, however, was not worth the price! It was very expensive!
Great food, service and good atmosphere. If you are looking for a spot for a fun first date, a family dinner or a night out with your closets friends, then this is the place for you! Well priced and high quality food.
Thanks for the great food and service!
absolutely wonderful! the staff was nice and the food came out quickly. I loved the banchan! my friend that I went with is also ridiculously picky and she really enjoyed her meal as well! I would definitely come again!
Fresh seafood! Authentic cuisine!
Love this place
