About
Who could resist the multiple sensory pleasures of Korean barbecue: the spicy, salty flavors and the combination of textures and temperatures(crisp lettuce juxtaposed with succulent grilled meat and fish), not to mention the hands-on fun of going through a pile of lettuce leaves, wrapping your own individual little barbecue “tacos” and popping them into your mouth.
We were very early and the servers only had our table. They hovered making me feel like we had to eat quickly.
Decent food. A bit overbearing service. Quantity a bit limited.
We had never had Korean BBQ before and it was so delicious. We just got into town and the restaurant was hopping at 9:30pm. The staff was very helpful and explained choices and the cooking technique. We ordered a scallion pancake & a salad as an appetizer, but really our choice was too much food. We should have just had the grilled beef & shrimp. Those yummy items were perfect in the lettuce cups, along with all the sides. We also ordered a noodle dish, so hot & tasty. Really there was enough food for 4 and we were only 2. But it was worth trying - so many flavors. Will definitely go again and try other items. A fun night!
Great food. The place was really noisy, though, and slightly more expensive than I was expecting (there were no prices listed on their website). I'd go back for a lunch special though. We were in and out in 30 minutes as well.
The food was excellent - we had Korean BBQ. It took a longtime for the waitress to come & take the orders but once she did, service was great.
Good old, quality KBBQ.
Food/service were great; we got the non marinated pork belly/pork jowl/kalbi and an order of the marinated kalbi
All tasted great; great quality meat too
Service on par with what's expected at Korean restaurants (in Korea, if your service isn't superb, you're likely to go out of business).
Price wise, I'd say typical for NYC KBBQ; pricier side.
$30-40/order of meat; 1 order is usually sufficient per person; extra stew for the table, some rice, alcohol; total with tip was $325 (about $65/person).
There was a small snafu, which was on me.
Part of my party arrived before I did; I neglected to tell the staff we were here with a reservation. OpenTable informed me I had a no show afterwards; it was resolved in the end after a quick email.
It was a very pleasant experience. Food was excellent as was the service. So much so that a few of us went to lunch there the next day.
Perfect food perfect service total satisfaction
They have Yakult as dessert. So cute!
great casual dining. helpful staff who explain the menu.
Really great food and atmosphere
We had a very nice time and a good meal- party of 6. Good place for a group. I have limited experience with the cuisine but thought everything was good.
So easy to make a reservation. No need to wait hours for a table Friday night like in k town. Excellent authentic food both Bbq and korean dishes. Been coming for different occasions for years. Always great service and food. Never rushed to leave after dining like in other K town restaurants. Would highly recommend.
Cannot say enough how much we appreciated our dinner at Madangsui. We had a large party of 15 to celebrate my daughter’s birthday there, and everyone was very accommodating and helpful, even down to giving us a cake knife, extra plates and forks for the birthday cake that I brought in. They even played a Korean pop birthday song while we lit the candles. The food was excellent and plentiful, with leftovers we took home. Thank you for a great evening, Madangsui!
The place is filthy! I was embarrassed that I recommended that we have lunch here with friends from out of town.
The food is good, but based on how dirty the restaurant is, I was scared that the food might not be stored properly.
The restaurant cancelled my reservation on Open Table, which caused panic since friends were meeting us there and I would have needed to find another restaurant to accommodate us in that area, the Sunday before Christmas. There was no problem getting a table but I didn't need the stress of the restaurant cancelling the reservation, then denying they did so.
Service was quick & attentive, the food was delicious & plentiful- just a bit noisy as typical on a Friday night in nyc, but we’ll be back
Decent place for a quick and easy lunch with good variety of banchan
Amazing food, nice staff!
Loved it all. Good stuff goooooooooooood
Very good.
Although the food was acceptable, do not go with a small group or you will be ignored if there are other larger groups in the restaurant. We were seated five minutes before anyone asked us if we'd like drinks or had any questions about the menu, meanwhile two large groups were on either side of us and were attended by an army of wait staff.
Lovely, try the beer and pancakes
The food was very good and the wait staff was friendly. Drinks were a little on the expensive side for KBBQ but we had a great time. Not the best location which is actually a real plus if you are looking for last minute res for a big group because they usually have availability and the food is very good
They said because kids not to grill at the table. But then the beef and pork belly that came out cooked was tough and chewy and clearly had been already cooked before. Very very disappointing given the expensive price of these items.
The staff and service were wonderful. Our server was extremely attentive without being intrusive. They were able to accommodate all 12 of us with ease and assisted with the ordering process. They even allowed us to bring in a bday cake. Great spot for a large group. The food was superb , as always.
Great bbq. Always enjoy the food, especially with friends.
Not sure as it has gone down since I tried it a while back
I love this restaurant! The food, BBQ marinade and side dishes are amazing!
Dinner was at 9pm on Sunday night. Around 9:55p they opened the front doors and took the garbage cans from the kitchen past our table to the front. Humm...
We had a great time. Ate great food and we're able to talk.
Good value, particularly lunchtime
This is my first time coming with a large group and everything was great. Everything we needed was taken care of right away and the food was delicious as always.
My favorite Korean BBQ joint in K-Town. It's pricey, though not as much as some of the other places, yet still a no frills, down and dirty, LET'S EAT, wonderland. Amazing food. Amazing bon chan (sides), good service. Every time I go I enter this euphoric happy place. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I wish portions of meat were a little bigger for the cost, but to get better prices you'll have to leave Manhattan and find an outer borough spot. Still gets two thumbs up from me!
An authentic Korean dining experience with helpful staff to explain the food. Prices are definitely not below $30 a person. A better expectation is $50 a person (all in with tip). That said, the food was delicious and filling. We had two orders of the Bulgogi and shared Korean Pancake.
Great food, great service , plum wine went down a treat
I couldn’t decide between the Hot Pot and the Bimbimbop, but the waitress explained the differences to me...I ordered the Hot Pot and it was excellent.
My friends ordered 3 dishes that were cooked at the table, short ribs and boneless short ribs, then explained how we were to build the wraps. Very helpful
The food is really good and plenitful. Really very good ...
We had pork dish and cold noodle and beef dish that were excellent and they bring a whole bunch of savory apps to the table. ITT am experience
Great atmosphere, food, and service, until they tried to charge us an extra $80 for a dish we didn’t get!
Excellent Korean BBQ. A bit pricey but delicious. All the beef seemed very high quality and they served a nice variety of side dishes with it. Korean pancake and homemade dumplings also excellent.
We ordered appetizers and mains. Before they came, the restaurant gave us a bunch of tastings! All delicious! We will definitely be back!
Great galbi and jap chae; good pa jun; sundubu jigae was a little mild for my taste, but you can get it with kimchi.
