About Permanently Closed - Mad Greek
This restaurant is permanently closed.
Mad Greek is a casual eatery that offers a wide range of Greek and Indian dishes. The restaurant's interior is simple and soft-colored. A line of small potted plants across the dining room adds a touch of freshness to the ambiance. Guests who prefer dining in the open air can choose to sit in the outdoor dining area as well. Mad Greek also features a full-service bar where guests can enjoy their favorite drinks with their meals.
Begin the meal at Mad Greek with an appetizer like Hoomis prepared with ground chickpeas, lemon, Greek olive oil, tahini and garlic and served with pita bread or potato samosas served with fresh chutney. For the main course try the popular shrimp saganaki with baby spinach, mushrooms, feta, kasseri and tomato sauce. For dessert, order the highly recommended Baklava ice cream or try the equally popular cardamom crème brûlée.

Mad Greek - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We made a last minute reservation for prime time on Saturday and we were accommodated cheerfully.
The avgolemmeno soup was perfection. Our dinners, the Lemon Chicken and the burger were great.
For dessert we shared the Creme Brûlée. I found it to be more creamy than custardy. The flavor was good, but the consistency that I'm used to for that dessert was not there.
Our server was great and made sure we had everything we needed. We will be returning.
My family took me here for a Mother's Day lunch. I thought the food would be heavy traditional Greek dining but they had a great menu with plenty of light and healthy Mediterranean-style choices. Our server was cheerful and knowledgeable and the owner came out and welcomed us. Altogether a very enjoyable lunch with fresh ingredients and good value.
It was my turn to host the monthly meeting of our social club and I decided to go back to an old favorite restaurant, The Mad Greek. Everyone was happy about the choice because they each had pleasant memories of their previous times there.
This time was no different. We were seated in a discrete section of the restaurant where we could hold our meeting and hear each other without disturbing others. We talked, drank plenty of wine, laughed and had a wonderful meal. Our server, James, was very attentive and patient. We will be back!
The food here is excellent - everything we've ever had here is great, and the portions are large enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day. Outdoor patio in summer is very nice. Interior decor is a little dated, but we don't go for that, we go for the food. I'm only sorry that I just found out we could make reservations on Open Table. We eat here 5-6 times a year, and I could have had all those points!
5 of us had dinner at The Mad Greek on the Wednesday after Christmas. The server was terrific; friendly, informative and funny. Service was well timed. The only reason I didn't give the food 5 stars was that I asked for my lamb and spinach curry to be seasoned mildly and it was too spicy for me to eat more than a few bites. I didn't return it because my husband took a bite and loved it so we switched meals. Interestingly, it was an Indian lamb recipe and my husband doesn't usually like Indian food OR lamb and he LOVED this dish.
Although we didn't eat outside I marked "great for outdoor dining" because I had a wonderful lunch on their little patio over the summer (with the same server) and it was just perfect.
On my trips back to Cleveland I've been visiting the mad greek for years, the food at times is great but on other trips has been a bit disappointing. On this last visit they mentioned that they had returned back to the original menu which was good news - loved the variety & flavor that they brought to the table. The appetizers were excellent (Baba ghanoush is a family favorite!), however when it came to the service & the mains they still seem to be figuring things out. if you're in the area it's probably worth a stop by however I'm not sure i'd head back after this visit for any other reason than convince.
Food was very good. Service was a little lacking. The waiter was ok but there were times we couldn't find him. The restaurant was not full for a Saturday evening. but it wasn't due to the food. Our entire party of 4 decided we would absolutely return because our meals were so good. The drinks were good as well. Everything was reasonably priced.
We had a late evening (8:00 pm) dinner with five people. The service was good and the food was delicious. We had a mix of Indian and Greek dishes. The server did a good job of accommodating various food needs. The portions were generous but not gigantic. It was quiet and pleasant on the patio. We were with out-of-town guests and they were quite impressed.
We had an amazing dinner at the Mad Greek. There were 4 of us that went on a Sunday evening. It was very quiet. We ordered a Mezzei Sampler and it was completely authentic! I ordered the Roasted Lemon Chicken for dinner and the portion was unbelievable, I ended up taking half home! I am very watchful of my diet and this dinner was very lean and healthy. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any of my friends or family!
What a pleasure it was recently for us to rediscover this mainstay of our Cleveland Heights neighborhood after too long an absence. This friendly, unpretentious place continues to serve food of a very high quality in both Indian and Greek cuisines. I am particularly pleased that there are a number of delicious vegetarian options and a very nice wine list. The staff members and servers are unfailingly friendly and efficient. It is also a major plus for us to be able to dine late on weekend nights after a concert or play.
Lots of talking and laughter with our group. Waitress was friendly and patient. Dined in separate area with only a few other tables of people so noise level was low and we could hear everyone in our group very well. Food was outstanding with a great variety of Mediterranean favorites. Everyone was pleased.
I met a colleague for Lunch, and the food was excellent.
We started with the flaming Saganaki, which was quite tasty.
My friend had the Kasseri and vegetable sandwich, and he said it was excellent.
I ordered the chicken souvlaki sandwich, but I really think they gave me the chicken tikka sandwich. It had a mildly spicy red sauce on it, which souvlaki doesn't usually have. The sauce prevented me from eating it like a sandwich, but it was very tasty.
Excellent attentive service. But given we were one of only two patrons, not surprising.
Mad Greek serves primarily Greek and Mediterranean food. The restaurant is divided into serveral levels, with two bars, which helps to create a more intimate dining setting and avoids that "eating in a barn" feel you get in big restaurants. The food is nothing short of superb -- and I personally recommend the lamb keftedes (meatballs) and the rack of lamb.
The restaurant has a wide selection of cocktails, including some very original ones created specially for the house.
Mad Greek can accommodate moderately sized groups, but what is most important -- they are VERY accommodating with last-minute changes in reservations and group size. They are very service-oriented, and it shows!
If you have not been at the Mad Greek since the new chef arrived last November, it is time to try the Mad Greek. The quality of food and price point is fantastic! Went with a group of 6 and all enjoyed their food. The Lemon Artichoke chicken was the best, as well as the roasted strawberry napoleon.
I met two friends here for dinner on a Friday night to catch up on old times. The food was lovely with good service. The room had a nice ambiance of its own. The background noise level was not like some places on a Friday night, and over the course of our meal almost all of the tables if not all in the room we were in occupied with other diners.
