It was our 1st time to the Mad batter for dinner. The food was fresh & delicious. The service was very good. The bar is alot of fun. We were lucky to catch the end of the "Open Mike" session on Sunday night. That was really entertaining. If you want to catch it though, get there early. Seems like the bar is very popular with the locals as well as guests. I would highly recommend the Mad Batter for breakfast lunch and dinner!

We really enjoyed our dinner here, it was delicious and when you stay in the hotel you get coupons off of your bill which even made it affordable!
Our waitress was lovely, I enjoyed hanging on the front porch, we will be visiting again.

We had a great night food was good and Mark was there to greet every customer, especially his Veterans. Mark should really be appreciated by the community for all he does for servicemen and women.

We have gone to Cape May for more than 30 years. Mad Batter was a frequent dinner location. It has slipped considerably since our last visit. We were crammed onto the porch. We both ordered the crab cake and filet entre. The steak was overcooked and the crab cake was dry. We were rushed through dinner. Not a good experience.

Excellent! Wonderful breakfast menu too. I never finish my meal but I couldn't get enough and ate everything in front of me!

Scallops with mashed sweet potatoes and steamed asparagus, no imagination. Should have been served with risotto. Crab cake sandwich came with overdone French fries that were still soggy.

Staff was very courteous and professional. Menu choices were very good. Serving size was very good. Ordered sautéed scallops with sweet potatoes. Scallop portion was generous, but sweet potatoes were luke warm.
Other than that, nice meal.

The experience was phenomenal. We brought in friends from a nearby town and it is now their favorite spot.

the baked brie appetizer was amazing and just the right size for one person, though perhaps a little pricy for how much you get. The best thing is how truly veg-friendly this place is - in addition to having both vegan and vegetarian options on their dinner menu, I was able to add fried tofu to my entree for a protein-boost. The linguine is meh, as is the marinara, but my husband loved his ravioli and we had a delightful apple cheesecake for dessert - perfect for a cool October night.

We were pleasantly surprised how easy it was to have a conversation on the front porch where we were seated for dinner. Realized later, there was no music playing (or it was so low we couldn’t hear it). Not sure if that was intentional, but we appreciated it. Also loved dining al fresco in mid-October - the porch was great.

Always like the atmosphere and beer list. Food is hit or miss, definitely a miss this time. Vegetarian ravioli was mushy, oily, and a weird orange color sauce. Autumn salad was good, nice mix of ingredients. Service was just ok, usually a friendly place, the waiter disappeared for 15 minutes when we were waiting to pay.

We usually go to the Mad Batter for breakfast but since it was our anniversary we tried it for dinner. The menu is full of good creative choices. The wine list and cocktails had good selections as well. I would recommend the Steak and Cake or any of the vegan offerings.

Martini glasses so small and price still big . Does not compare to other places. Fish and chips platter had 2 small pieces of fish mostly fries. Prices high for what you get. Best breakfast only. Good drinks but small glasses. Leave there feeling we paid a lot for what we got every time.

Love the atmosphere on the porch- nicely redone. Service was great. Side salad was not impressive- kind of soggy- didn't seem very fresh. Seafood risotto good. Grilled haddock was disappointing - very dry. Corn salad tasty. I would definitely return. Have had many great meals in past years. Great beer selection.

The food was fabulous but the service was lousy, the bartender was miserable and our waiter never came back to check on us during the meal. He showed up to take our finished plates and didn't ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee he just clapped his hands together and said "so, no dessert or coffee" like he was trying to rush us. When I said I wanted to see what was for dessert he brought out a tray with disgusting looking food on it and quickly explained what each one was. We then declined dessert. We were seated in a corner behind 2 large tables that were so close to each other that if one of us would have needed to use the rest room during dinner many people at those tables would have had to get up to let us pass, so we stayed seated and only had them move when we left. There was a small pine tree sitting behind my chair that poked me in the back the whole meal, very uncomfortable. We have been coming to Cape May for years and usually visit this restaurant for breakfast but decided to have dinner this year. I think we will stick with only breakfast. We have no complaints about the food it was wonderful so if you want great food and don't care about the service you get this is the restaurant for you.

This is a great restaurant the food is always fresh and tasty. They also have a lot of gluten free options. The atmosphere is good except there is flies that bother you when your eating because they leave there doors open. That part is annoying but overall its a wonderful restaurant.

We expected a lot because of the restaurants high ratings. We dined on the front porch which is quite nice. The service was good. Friendly and timely.

The wine list is pretty limited, though you can pay $200 for Opus One. Not nearly enough choices priced to match up with the food pricing. We ordered a Pinot noir which was decent and inexpensive.

The menu is a mix of entrees with Cape May prices and bar food like burgers. A little bit of everything.

My seafood risotto was pretty tasteless. The risotto was both too al dente and too sticky. My wife's single crab cake was served on a tiny side plate and looked weird, though she enjoyed it.

Overall we felt that for dinner the place is very overrated. There are several much better places for dinner in Cape May. The Mad Batter try's to do everything, but really isn't memorable for anything.
