Mad Batter Restaurant
food was ok but below quality esp for the price. pretty place, nice location but we sat right next to the room with the bar in it and there was live music that was loud enough for us to not be able to hear ourselves easily. I was looking for romantic dinner and it wasn't that.
Did not recognize our anniversary
Nice casual eatery with excellent variety, everything from wings to seafood risotto. Sizable portions and great value
We ate out on the porch where it was fairly quiet. One of my favorite burgers in the cape may area and the fries are the best too!
Would absolutely recommend ...loved the happy hour, had some super appetizers and then had a delicious dinner! The garden is gorgeous such a pretty serene spot. Only stayed one night planning to go back, ty for such great service. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. Hope you all have a great summer!
The personnel (from the host to the servers) was excellent. It is located in a beautiful street and it has an interesting set up. The place is divided into three areas, the front set of tables is located in an indoor porch (white and colorful modern booths), the second area is in the old bar and restaurant with dark paneling and a charming old bar (live music too!) and the third area is in the back, in a terrace that could be open in the summer. The menu was interesting, it contains many vegetarian options, the food was very good. The desserts were great, and the cocktails were excellent. It was a bit loud, but it was nice to have the music in the background.
It was a very busy evening and service was not up to it....very pleasant but folks were getting appetizers before drink orders were filled-I believe that there were not enough service folks on duty as the bar and interior dining room was ver full.
Food excellent as always as would recommend highly.
We had a great dinner on a busy night. My paella was delicious and everyone in my party was happy
Excellent service and a shockingly good vegan menu. Great tasting vegan fare and a wonderful craft beer menu
Very nice experience. Professional management and service. Friendly bar that poured good drinks. Lots of vegetarian options that can bee tweaked to your preference based on numerous protein options. We will try it again, suggest you try it too.
The Mad Batter is a restaurant I have been to several times over the years. It is pretty standard and, as I have indicated with the ratings, it is a "good" restaurant, but doesn't raise to the level of great or above, especially with all of the "great" and "outstanding" competition surrounding it. Nice for a casual lunch or dinner.
Was seated on the porch, facing a window. Was blinded by the sun the entire time. Other than that, it was pleasant.
It was my daughters 13th birthday and she chose the Mad Batter. It is one of her favorite places to eat! Everything was great! And they treated to her bday dessert we love the Batter, it never disappoints!!
The waitress was slow and not very upbeat. Didn’t feel like she was interested in pleasing us in anyway. Had to ask for drink refills instead of them asking us. The clam chowder was amazing!
Food was very disappointing, but the service was excellent.
First time going for dinner. Lots of creative vegan options!! The seitan wings we're exceptional. Cocktails we're also delicious, my girlfriend loved the aviator.
Excellent ambience with a diverse menu. I highly recommend it.
The Mad Batter is a quaint restaurant & bar in a beautiful Victorian gem that offers magnificent freshly prepared menu items and beverages for all ages. Had the pleasure of enjoying their delicious breakfast foods as well as recent dinner experience. Truly a great spot for great food and service. Liked that they also offer options for vegans as well. The porch seating is my favorite.
We loved the entire experience there. Everything was exceptional and we highly recommend it for anyone visiting Cape May!
We were in town for a wedding and had not been to Cape May in 20 years. Friends had told us about your restaurant and it was close to our hotel. We arrived on a Thursday night @ 5:15 pm. The minute we arrived we received top notch service with a smile. The host/hostess were friendly and accommodating, the server was on point, and the entrees and drinks/selection were amazing. Large portions were a welcome surprise. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating per our diet. The next time in Cape May we will definitely return.
Enjoyed our dinner. Large portions. Delicious desserts!
The Mad Batter is our “ go to” place in Cape May. Their menu offers Gluten free and vegan options in addition to a typical diet menu. Everything we have ordered is always beyond delicious. The portion sizes are perfect. Wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our waitress Raquel was super sweet! I highly recommend this place.
Cute place. Servers tried to be polite but seemed forced into fee
Best crab cakes ever, would love the recipe for them and sauce.
This is THE place to eat in Cape May. Location is great, it's very clean, food is very good and a lot of choices, service is great and it's a wonderful quaint place - the quintessential Cape May restaurant.
They have a good selection of vegan options and it was a treat to have a vegan dessert on the menu! It was devoured by all 3 of us!
We sat in restaurant area, very non-descript decor, but pleasant and casual. Bar area looked to be more festive.
Waiter was friendly but wouldn't say over-concerned about our dining experience.
Food was delicious, although expensive.
Good beer and wine selection.
The place looks beautiful on the inside and the food was amazing but feel like we were forgotten about once we were seated it took almost 20 minutes to get our drinks and our drinks never got refilled. Would I come back yes the food was that good but the service could have been better.
Yummy food! Great waiter. Even had breakfast earlier that day too. Can’t go wrong.
Service was good. Food was creative.
Loved the atmosphere! The service was rushed, the entree arrived before the appetizer was finished. Request extra time between courses. The food does arrive to the table hot so having the timing right would make for a fabulous meal.
We went out with kids (ages 6,4,3 and 18 mon) and it was fabulous. Service was quick, they put us on the enclosed patio as to not bother people in the front of restaurant and food was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive as well. Great experience
It was excellent!
We had been looking forward to dining here, but perhaps The Mad Batter is known only for its breakfasts. The arugula salad had a lot of yellowed and wilted leaves and I had to send it back. The fish and chips were soggy. Both were taken off the bill. It was a poor dining experience, and we left hungry and disappointed. I wouldn’t trust the kitchen here again.
Not like it used to be. Food just not very good. Won’t go back
The Mad Batter has been our favorite place in Cape May for a long time. They did not disappoint :)
Food was great; service great; seating area a little uncomfortable - tight, low chairs, chilly
Both Food and dessert (made on premises by a wonderful pastry chef, we were told by our server) were delicious. Our server (sorry I forgot her name) a young woman only working at the restaurant one week, I believe she said she was originally from Guatemala, was outstanding. She was attentive, sweet and caring. The wine list was also very good. Will definitely return.
My husband and I came here to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. We enjoyed our meals and the service was very good as well! However, when you think of the name mad batter you think of the mad hatter and I didn’t really see anything “Alice in wonderland”...so I don’t know why it’s called the mad batter. Still, very nice to go too.
