We had a delightful dinner with both meals being perfect. The atmosphere was the best and we enjoyed listening to the violin and guitar as we dined. Definitely a to go to place every year!

My wife and I choose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We enjoyed our dining experience very much. The food was outstanding and the service was very good. One small piece of advice to future diners would be to not sit near the window if you are prone to getting cold. Highest recommendation!

We always love The Mad Batter, but since it was a Friday during Lent (no meat) we couldn’t go wrong! Nacho’s with no meat, salads, creamy basil pasta and hummus and pita made for a delicious meatless Friday!

Even though we were seated in the rear dinning room, the noise level from the bar was distracting. Service was very good, but the food was mediocre and considering the relative high price, we left disappointed. Nice people, but we won't go back.

It was a good meal

We have enjoyed many delicious meals at the Mad Batter. This time my red snapper was a bit overcooked and I was a little disappointed. Still tasted very good. We were seated on the enclosed front porch and it was a bit drafty but the seat warmers pretty much took care of us (we dined on a Saturday in February).

The porch was very warm when we arrived. Almost stifling, then it cooled off. Our waitress was ok, she didn’t clear dishes and glasses. The food runner was more attentive than anyone else.

Always love dining here during trips to Cape May. The food and service are exceptional and as an added bonus they brought dessert out with a candle in it for my wife’s birthday and ended up comping the dessert, which was a nice gesture.

Great as usual! My daughter tried the vegan tostados this time and loved them! There are so many vegetarian and vegan options for her!!

We dined here in early February so it was very quiet. But the space was very nice in an old hotel and the dinning area can be opened to the outside during good weather. The food was very good. The server misunderstood the order and only brought one entree to share between the two of us. But after the large salads, we were not that hungry and had plenty of room for dessert so it turned out OK. We will definitely go back when in Cape May again.

We decided to take an overnight getaway in Cape May and I'd heard about the Mad Batter for years, I think the catchy name makes it memorable. I love using Open Table so reservations were easy. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helped me make my selection and was quite patient while I decided on my drink order. My entree was amazing, I never expected the portion of lobster salad to be that large and I was glad I listened to my server. My husband enjoyed his meal, we both loved the calamari app special, no chewy pieces, all tender! I'll be recommending the restaurant for sure. The only drawback to the evening was that it was a cold night and my back was to the door and I got a cold draft every time someone came in or went out.

Always a great experience at “the Batter”! Whether I’m with friends or like tonight, with my family, everything is great! They have something for everyone! We love it because one of my daughters is a vegetarian and she has many options! The staff is always friendly and accommodating!

Food was excellent, service poor. Noise level for dinner conversation was too loud. That level of sound for the bar area is fine, but not for dining room.

Excellent food & service!

We visited on a winter Sunday night not having dined here in quite a few years. The crab bisque was very good but the seafood risotto special and Chilean sea bass main courses were very average. The service by Raquel was slow. It turned out to be open mike night and it was very loud, maybe not the usual. Overall I can't recommend the Mad Batter and believe there are better options even in the off season (having dined at The Ebbitt Room the evening before.)

It is great that this establishment stays open year-round. We dined on a Friday night in mid-January with live music in the bar as back drop and a very full house of diners - we thought it would be empty. It offers a good array of wines and beers at different price points, has interesting vegetarian options on the menu if you are into that, and have made the porch a nice toasty place to dine during the winter. We had appetizers and entrees and everything exceeded our expectations. This place is well known for brunch, but we’ve learned it’s very good for dinner too. Just a block off the mall, it is easy to get to.

Went for New Years (special menu) the service was great. The food was not as good as it would be off the regular menu.

We had made plans to have dinner here on New Years Eve. Looking at the menu, there were many choices I would have enjoyed. About 2-3 weeks before NYE, I received a phone call saying that the menu for NYE is going to be Prix Fixe. I had to look that up, but basically, for $75, I was getting a 4 course meal, and I had fewer choices to select from. I am not a foodie, not do I eat seafood. We decided to keep our reservation. Our server was amazing, and I enjoyed the experience itself, however, I was not happy with my available food choices. I would have been happy with a burger or hot wings, not all this fancy stuff.

We hardly saw our waitress. When the waitress brought our drinks, I told her it was my daughters 21st birthday and she said nothing. It took a long time to get our food and after dinner I asked the waitress if they did anything for birthdays and she said no. I was very disappointed. My husband said when he went to use the restroom, two employees were having a conversation in the middle of the isle and waited a few seconds for them to move out of his way. Very disappointed! It wasn’t worth the money

Celebrated 45th birthday with some amazing food and great company

Four of us each ordered a different meal and each one was very good. We were very happy with the service and seating. Plan to go back again.
