Really glad that we found this place! The service was great, the complimentary Romesco dip is addicting, and everything we ordered was just as delicious. Would come back again!
Food gets better each time we go. No matter how full the restaurant is the noise level is low. The bar is a happening spot for both locals and tourists. Tapas and drinks in the bar is just as good as a sit down dinner in the dinning room.
The tapenade with the pita bread is delicious. The flat iron steak with potatoes and side salad is a huge plate of food. Delicious, but I needed a doggie-bag.
A nice wine list with good selections by the glass.
Excellent restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the cauliflower curry soup. Also found their version of pasta carbonara with a soft yolk on top to be perfectly inspired. Loved the clean, contemporary Scandinavian design and calm atmosphere. Though separately, the bar is lively and fun, too!
Nicki was the most wonderful server!!! She is enjoyable and very knowledgeable about the food source, wine, drinks, and incredibly kind and sweet. She is the best server at Mad and Vin and I love getting her table every time we come in! The food was delicious. The bartender might need to learn what a martini is but other then that IT WAS FABULOUS!
This is our second time in this place and it’s amazing! Very tasty, food is fresh and great. Service is super friendly and helpful. Smile is everywhere. Super happy about our date night and 100% we will be back for more noodle salad;).
Awww so wanted to like the food. Pork was tuff, pasta had no taste and the apple crumble crisp dessert was horrible. Apples were hard and dry. Waitress was very defensive when we told her our wine had a corked taste. Very disappointing as we had friends from out of town dining with us.
This was our third time dining a Mad & Vin (twice in one trip) and just as enjoyable as our first! The food is well prepared and beautifully presented & the service from the host to servers & helpers was excellent. They really go the extra mile to ensure your dining experience is an enjoyable one.
We attended for Restaurant Week and the food was outstanding and an amazing value. Service was wonderful. The wines selection is not large but is well chosen and priced reasonably. The only down side of the experience was the room was very, very noisy. There were moments when it was difficult to hear my spouse talking from across the table.
We would certainly go to Mad & Vin again especially during restaurant week... and would recommend the restaurant with the warning that it can be loud.
We visited Mad & Vin for Restaurant Week 2018 and were very happy with our choice. Their menu is varied and uses locally sourced produce. And so well prepared. They also have a nice selection of wines, including many local wines. The service was friendly and helpful. Good experience all around.
We always have a great meal when we come to Mad &Vin. We really liked the options available for restaurant week. There was something for every taste. Delicious!
This space is beautiful and within the trendy ambiance of the Landsby Hotel. That said, the staff needs a bit of a refresher in customer service. Our waitress Sarah was very competent and made up for the many missteps of the front desk and other restaurant staff. (Breakfast with Alex was abysmal) For the price charged for there rooms, I would expect service to be excellent all around. We dined on the restaurant week menu 2018 and it was good except for the crumble dessert. Just a few apple pieces, a random cranberry, and walnuts, which was not disclosed
Great experience! Wonderful service, amazing food and reasonable prices. I am in love with this place! Will be back!100%!
Hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever been too, superb service and the food omg, I would make the 4 hr drive for the Short Rib Skillet I had. Outstanding.
Drinks are great, food is just so-so
It was New Years Eve. The food was very good. Not much NYE fanfare. A lovely place for dinner as a regular dinner no special occasion. Unfortunately a crying baby put a damper on. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Small restaurant.
Great food. Everything we ordered was delicious. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. We got good recommendations from the waitress about the food. We Will definitely come again.
We had the caramelised Brussels sprout starter, the beef rib, and the seafood hot pot for mains, and the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. We also had 2 of their cocktails. The cocktails were good and it is a great looking restaurant, however it was severely let down by the food and service. The starter and beef main were burnt, and they were apparently meant to be served with pita bread which never materialised. We were also unlucky enough to get a bad server, who did not tell us the specials or that there were even specials on offer) and who ignored us as much as possible. (It took 15mins for us to have our starter plate removed despite placing it on the edge of the table) this lack of service seemed to be specific to the few tables unlucky enough to be assigned to this particular person. The chocolate cake saved the meal and was delicious. But we were there to celebrate a special occasion and to be honest left feeling ripped off and unhappy that a tip was still expected.
Service was terrible. After we were seated, it took the wait staff more than 15 minutes to even acknowledge us. We had to ask 3 times for more water and once our food arrived our waitress disappeared. Not worth the price.
Food was very good, and beautifully presented. Only bummer was that there was live music outside and every time the doors opened for servers to go outside (which was every minute or two) our conversation had to pause until the doors closed. We left earlier than we would have liked, forgoing dessert because of the noise.
A lovely Thanksgiving dinner with a fixed menu that included choices other than turkey! Butternut fritter starter, green salad with persimmons, Delicious short rib...not ribs and potatoes AND apple crumble and flourless chocolate cake. Very nice dining room and terrace overlooking Landsby patio. Waitress was excellent. She was knowledgeable about the food and wines from the county. Bus staff was somewhat lacking as we received our first course before our wine and then when salad was served....first course dishes were not removed. All in all a very nice dining experience.
Food was excellent. Service was exceptional . Found this gem from the bar host at wandering dog across the street. Thank you.
Our pork and seafood dinners were good. Service was just okay.
Amazing food and service!!!
The food here is so fresh and good. Always a great experience .
We sat in the upstairs private room and had Blake as our server. It was wonderful having our own space & being able to take our time with our meal. Wonderful pastas, pizzas, & full entree dishes. I had the filet mignon special and it was perfectly cooked. Wonderful service & ambiance.
Waitress was awesome and food exceeded expectations. Duck far fries and burger were amazing.
Service was pretty awful -felt like I was in a diner. Was told the specials and asked was I ready to order. No offer of drinks , no descriptions of the entrees when we asked - I was ready for her to respond I suggest you order when I asked about her suggestion between two entrees. Ordered calamari and it came with tempura like jalapeños that I thought was a pepper. When I told waitress that she might let customers know that there was spicy components in the dish she said hmmm interesting and walked away. Food was good and it is a nice looking place but the service does not hold up.
Mad and Vin was wonderful for our girlfriend group of 7. The food and service was fabulous! We ordered everything from hamburgers to steak and everyone loved their meal. The portions are generous and the prices reasonable. The ambiance was amazing. The owners have done a great job of updating and upgrading an old hotel into a modern, contemporary ad beautiful space. We will definitely be visiting again! I would highly recommend making reservations as the space is fairly small and fills up quickly.
Nice menu with good choices; just enough for everyone to find something delicious. Classy setting with an upscale vibe. Beautifully presented dishes. Would return next time we're in town.
Food was excellent. Perfectly cooked, and the menu was well designed. The service wasn't up to par though. There was no one bussing the tables. There were no food runners. Our poor server was overworked, and so we sat there with dirty first course dishes in front of us, until the main course arrived. Then our server had us hand her the dirty plates to her so she could put the entrees down.
At a $32 per plate restaurant, this isn't acceptable. Our server did her best, it definitely wasn't her fault, but that really detracted from the experience.
Overall great experience. Ordered the short rib and the halibut. Wine list is a great value. Ordered 2015 seasmoke for $85. Excellent value!
This is one of my favorites in Santa Ynez Valley. I crave their seasonally changing buckwheat noodle dish. We had a large party this time and a very patient server. My husband said his steak was not quite as good this time. The cut was a bit fatty and it was over cooked. That won't stop us from going back though.
Picking Mad and Vin was a long shot, just chose it from the internet for a group of friends getting together. We were all pleasantly surprised, lovely atmosphere, great food and bar. We live out of the area and all decided we would drive to Solvang just to have dinner there!
First time here and it was very good. Was a quiet night so only a few tables but excellent service and delicious and inventive dishes The design is sleek and there is a fun bar scene as well.
Great service and food
O'Connor pest control staff
Love the ambience of Mad & Vin's bar area, the lobby of the Landsby hotel. Great place to start the night with an app (the olives!) and a cocktail (the shrubs!). The food was creative but not too whack-a-doo, and I fell in love with a salad with noodles. Fun place to celebrate the anniversary with the hubs.
Solvang cuisine has greatly approved over the last few years, and although not new, Saturday was our first time to Mad and Vin. The food was delicious, starting with the calamari ( very light fried shell) to the main course. The special fish was a crusted Halibut that hard a marvelous sauce, and the flat iron steak and duck fat fries were very good. Sarah was our server, and she took great care of us, helping us get out to the theater on time. We shall return!
We made a reservation based on a recommendation from a friend. Our experience did not disappoint at any turn. The restaurant space is so well done. The food was amazing. The staff were so personable, inviting, and provided the best customer service. I will definitely go back the next time I am in town!
Very classy and good for the ambiance.
We went to Mad and Vin for our anniversary and our meal was delicious; I would absolutely recommend the food. It just wasn't relaxing, and was very far from a romantic date place - we couldn't even get anyone to light the candle on our table! They had live music outside, which was awesome, except there was different music playing inside. Then people were continuously going in and out the door right next to our table to see the band. Finally, although everyone who worked there was pleasant, they must have been understaffed as our waitress seemed to be working at a frenetic pace. I'd recommend it on a non-weekend night if you are staying at the hotel anyway.
