What a delightful restaurant! Delicious food and wine, kind and attentive service, and wonderfully comfortable ambiance. We’ve been visiting the Solvang area regularly for more than a decade and Mad + Vin is such a welcome addition to the food scene. Also, it’s very kid-friendly, which is a plus for those of us with children willing to try new twists on old favorites (Mac and cheese croquettes, grilled cheese with pesto, and the best duck-fat fries!). Appetizers and main courses were perfect, deserts were good but could use a little tweaking or a few more options. So worth a visit to check it all out for yourself.

Wish I could give more stars. As others have said, this is the best kept secret in Solvang. I had the flat iron steak , and it was extremely tender and moist. It was cooked perfectly, medium rare as requested. To start I had the farmer’s salad. Like the entree, it was a home run.

My husband had the Santa Ynez burger, and it was also cooked perfectly. The duck fries were outrageously good. They should be illegal.

Our server, Nikki, was very personable and attentive. Very professional too.

We will be back before we leave lovely Solvang for the real world.

This restaurant is wonderful. It is beautifully appointed, the food was exquisite and the presentation was amazing. We had the best time. We originally were seated to a large party that got continuously louder. We asked to be moved to the outside patio and were moved immediately. The service was superb. The staff know how to treat guests. Friendly, attentive and so courteous. It was our first time but we will be back. Hopefully soon it was an excellent experience.

I feel the menu has changed or the chef. We ordered a shrimp salad that looked uneventful and for the price. The meal should have been better. The drinks from the bar were great.

Hands down this is the best upscale eatery (without the upscale prices) in Solvang. I go to Mad and Vin every time I visit Solvang either to their bar (which has AMAZING sliders and overall happy hour menu) or their main dining. The best is when they have live music in the courtyard outside during the summer as well. The service was excelled and the burger and pasta we shared were extraordinary tasty.

We made a reservation for this restaurant. I did not know it was also a hotel so I was confused when coming in and not knowing where to go to get seated. I found the hostess desk in a corner and proceeded. She just looked me up and down and said ‘what’s up?’. After my surprise I mentioned we had a reservation. She just asked ‘name?’ And then she sat us. I don’t know which juvie facility she came from but this is why I’m giving the place one less star. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was very good. I loved that they also bread and fry the lime along with some jalapeño peppers. That made it extra good and unique. For the entrees we ordered the hot pot which was a soup with shrimps and clams. We also had the pasta that was very good. The soup had a sausage that was too heavy duty. We had some cocktail as well, one with cucumber vodka that was very good, a martinis. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. Everything went pretty smooth. I just suggest to either train the hostess on how to interact in society or kick her to the curve. My thoughts...

Our group really liked the ambience of the room (and hotel lobby/bar). Great menu and huge portions on the entrees. We really liked the food and could tell it was prepared with quality ingredients, extreme detail and care; Mad they offered several local wines but there was little detail about vintage or specific vineyard of each label. But I also see that after a weekend of wine tasting in the area, many guests may prefer a cocktail or beer. Can't wait to come back.

Amazing food and great service! Host stand for the restaurant is off to the side so it's hard to spot right away, but the restaurant is very modern and quit. Definently reccomend the Brussels sprouts and the flat iron! Jamie was our server ans she was very nice and friendly. I had put on our reservation that It was a birthday and that was not Acknowledged but maybe that's our bad for not saying anything to the host, we assumed that it was on our reservation and they knew about it already. Definently will be back

The restaurant was hosting a wedding reception outside when we were there, but we had a reservation so getting in was easy. The food was excellent. The ambience was superb. The service was top-notch. There was a pause in service toward the end of dinner. We thought the staff forgot about us...until they didn’t. It was my girlfriend’s birthday weekend, and they prepared a delicious dessert for us. It just took them a while to get it prepared. Overall, Mad and Vin was a wonderful experience. We’d absolutely go again.

We absolutley loved our dinner at Mad and Vin! We took the advice of complete strangers and it paid off. We celebrated my birthday mid week so the noise level was low. The service was friendly and we felt everyone working that night was happy to be there. Our server, Jaimie, answered our questions about the menu and made us feel welcomed. Chef Beto came out to introduce himself after we finished the tastey and beautiful meal that he created. Can’t wait to go back!

This hidden gem is in The Landsby hotel in Solvang. It was our second visit to Mad and Vin and it was just as good as the first time. We were promptly seated in the restaurant area and the server came right over. There is also seating in the bar area where you can get food as well.

Our drinks came right out and our orders taken. The potato leek soup (the soup of the day) was excellent and their Farmer Salad was a cut above your typical lettuce and tomato salad. The Buckwheat Noodle salad was equally as good. The Roasted Chicken skillet is to be recommended. There are several large pieces of chicken along with potatoes and arugula. The Short Rib skillet was flavorful, but had quite a bit of fat on the ribs. We passed on the dessert options because the dinner was more than enough.

It was a great dining experience and we'll be back next time we come to Solvang! By the way, reservations are highly recommended, especially on the weekends.

We loved the food and the great vibe of the restaurant and bar. You have done a beautiful job. Unfortunately our waitress was very sub par. Every table around us said the same thing. We even had a busboy apologize to us about her. She would just disappear for 5-10 minutes at a time and we could see her from our table standing in the kitchen on her phone. I don’t remember her name but she was a big girl with straight brown hair. We were seated by the kitchen against the windows looking out onto the patio area.
When I placed the reservation and when I confirmed it I made sure to mention we were celebrating a birthday and no mention was made.
The rest of your staff was delightful from the cocktail waitress in the bar, the hostess, the tall blonde woman that brought our food out, and the small waitress serving other tables in the room.

Our server was bright and cheery but the appetizers took 30 minutes to come out and the main course an hour after that. The waitress started apologizing saying the kitchen was backed but we watched every other table arriving after us being served their food. Eventually the waitress stopped coming by because she had no explanation for why our order took an hour and half to come out. Entrees were tasty but everyone commented that the food was very salty.

Ambiance is awesome. service very good amd food delicious but way too pricy ! $25 for a plate of spaghetti with a few bacon cubes....
In my opinion, dining at the bar over a cocktail and some appetizers is a better deal.

Everything we ordered was fabulous. The soup was rich and delicious. My husband had the short rib entree and I had the seafood “stew”. Yummy! I drank the broth with a spoon.
It’s also a pleasant setting, not too noisy, nice lighting.
Service just right. No delays and no hovering.
