Mad & Vin
The food was delicious and the service was amazing!
Very different pairings with excellent service. Beautiful room. But we experiments, some could be a bit off. My salad was excellent as was ahi tuna. Still can't figure out the pear dessert.
We really enjoyed everything about our experience! The staff is attentive, cocktails are tasty and delicious meals. Thank you!
We had a party of 7 and everyone's food and drinks were great! Our server was fantastic and we all had a great time! If we ever go back to Solvang, we will definitely eat here again!
Stayed at The Langsby and ate here for Dinner and Brunch and both were delicious. Had the short rib skillet for dinner, the meat was so tender and flavorful! Had French toast for brunch and it was absolutely delicious! Great service, wonderful food, will be back next time I’m in Solvang.
Flat Iron steak with Duck Fat Fries. Never had any better.
Food is high end with high end cost, noisy room & it was not that crowded. Service needs to greatly improved, nice server, but not in line with type of food costs
Outstanding. Service, food ambiance. Well done.
It was ok. The service was so slow. We waited a very long time for everything, even our drink took 20 mins. I like the ambiance but wouldn’t come running back.
The food and service were great; however, we noted we were celebrating a birthday in our booking and it was not acknowledged.
The food is excellent as well as the friendly service. Nice to see a manager pitch in.
Mom’s 80th Birthday!
Enjoyed dinner here with friends. It was recommended by a local. Food was good. Service was ok. Waiter no really present. Little slow. Pasta dish was delish! Steak was good. Salad alright.
Great place and food. My wife got the seafood hot pot and I got the fresh fish. We both loved our dishes and we will be back next time we’re in town.
It was not the relatively quiet place we expected. We could not sit outside because the amplified music on the patio made conversation impossible, and it was not much better inside. Although the room was not full, the server was pleasant but completely unfocused, with items being delivered to us that we had not ordered and ordered items forgotten. The food was tasty, although the highly rated ceviche was too spicy for me to eat. The decor is pleasant, access and parking (with a public lot next door) were relatively easy. Still, I would not recommend this restaurant to friends unless I had a chance to let them know about the issues we had.
Service and food was outstanding! Definitely dine here again when in town
What a beautiful ambience! Great food, great vibes ! Staff were very accommodating and super friendly!
They were very sweet to our Golden Retriever puppy
I highly recommend this restaurant which is located in The Landsby hotel. The food and service were terrific. The hotel is also very nice and located right in town
My wife enjoyed her chicken skillet. My fish had no flavor but the mash potatoes were good.
Great ambience. Good delish food but pricey for what is was. Service slow but very friendly and knowledgeable
Noise level was ridiculous. We went with another couple and couldn't talk all through dinner. The manager asked the musician to turn down his volume but he refused and played a three hour set with no breaks.
During the drive back to Los Angeles today, the entire family kept talking about how great the meal was last night! The corn chowder, chicken, and salmon special of the day were all amazing. The service was friendly and attentive and we had a great time. Highly recommended!!!
Over priced. We ordered the salmon special and it was over cooked. Very small portioned entrees are not worth the price. There were only 3 shrimps in my husband's $18 salad. The shrimp were also overcooked. The salad contained many capers and had a bitter taste. This restaurant was not a good value at all. Although you get some pita bread and dip complimentary, you only get a a few little triangles to share and they do not offer you any more. Finally, we felt rushed by our servers and the place was maybe 1/2 full.
Great local place…lovely atmosphere, food and outdoor dining available.
The space is beautifully renovated. The food was good but seriously overpriced (30 for chicken thighs and mashed potatoes??) Seemed like they were understaffed that night because server, as nice as we was, was not very attentive, and the bar was WAY backed up. Took 20 minute just to get a drink made. Took another 20 to get a second drink made, and that was delivered with the check.
TLDR: Nice space, decent food, the service & attention to detail needs to be greatly improved. Faux fine dining...
Mad and Vin has a wonderful, creative, fresh menu. The menu rotates based off what is in season and fresh. We have eaten here a few times and every time have been amazed by. The food is creative, excellently prepared, and beautifully presented.
Only negatives were the was a split charge and “on the rocks” pour charge for my whiskey that wasn’t disclosed until we got our bill.
Great patio dining in Solvang. Food was wonderful and service friendly!
Beautiful restaurant. We ate outside where every table has a heater overhead so no worries about being chilly (great for me but my tall husband got a little warm). I gave the service a 3 star, but I think that was specific to our server and one of the bussers. Nobody ever cleared our app plates so in addition to having a cluster of plates at our table, silverware was never replaced ahead of time so when the food arrived, he had to grab new sets (napkin and all) from another table. His comments/interaction felt rehearsed, not genuine and had to read from his pad for specials. I often felt our table was an afterthought for him. Maybe he was new. Noticed another server who was jovial and had fun with her tables so our experience was not the norm for the other staff members. Oh well. Overall, we enjoyed our evening!
Loved this cozy restaurant. We sat at the patio, with the heat lamps on it was really cozy. Food was good, we enjoyed the brussel sprouts and wines. For entrees we ordered flat iron steak and lamb chops. Steak was really good but the lamp chops were BOMB! So juicy and tender with great flavors, hands down one of the best lamb chops I've had. Would definitely recommend and come back again when we are in Solvang.
I would call this a classic California bistro with a Scandinavian overlay. The ambience is very Danish modern, so I guess you would expect that in a place like Solvang. We were seated on the patio which was good because it was VERY noisy on the inside and probably would have made the experience less pleasant. The service was fair but not really as attentive as one might like (for example, a long wait for the first arrival of server and then no invitation to order drinks) and similarly when salads arrived, no check in on drink refresh or other needs. The food was solid, but not as creative as might be expected given the promotional materials. We had cartelized Brussels sprouts--very nice; the fresh fish of the day (salmon) and the chicken skillet. All well prepared and tasty. Good dessert selection and options, we ended with the fruit crumble.
Good n enjoyed my dinner 🤗
A very pleasant, calm space with excellent service and food just as good.
My wife's steak came first overdone and then it came back raw. She then changed her order.
The food was outstanding. We got the Calamari and the Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer. Both were very good. I had the seafood bowl. The flavor was great and everything was cooked perfectly. The cocktails did not disappoint. We had two different cocktails that were delicious. The best part of the evening was our cheery waitress. She had a smile on her face constantly and a personality to match.
What a delightful restaurant! Delicious food and wine, kind and attentive service, and wonderfully comfortable ambiance. We’ve been visiting the Solvang area regularly for more than a decade and Mad + Vin is such a welcome addition to the food scene. Also, it’s very kid-friendly, which is a plus for those of us with children willing to try new twists on old favorites (Mac and cheese croquettes, grilled cheese with pesto, and the best duck-fat fries!). Appetizers and main courses were perfect, deserts were good but could use a little tweaking or a few more options. So worth a visit to check it all out for yourself.
Wish I could give more stars. As others have said, this is the best kept secret in Solvang. I had the flat iron steak , and it was extremely tender and moist. It was cooked perfectly, medium rare as requested. To start I had the farmer’s salad. Like the entree, it was a home run.
My husband had the Santa Ynez burger, and it was also cooked perfectly. The duck fries were outrageously good. They should be illegal.
Our server, Nikki, was very personable and attentive. Very professional too.
We will be back before we leave lovely Solvang for the real world.
This restaurant is wonderful. It is beautifully appointed, the food was exquisite and the presentation was amazing. We had the best time. We originally were seated to a large party that got continuously louder. We asked to be moved to the outside patio and were moved immediately. The service was superb. The staff know how to treat guests. Friendly, attentive and so courteous. It was our first time but we will be back. Hopefully soon it was an excellent experience.
I feel the menu has changed or the chef. We ordered a shrimp salad that looked uneventful and for the price. The meal should have been better. The drinks from the bar were great.
