I've been here several times. The last time, we left unimpressed with the steaks but decided to try one more time. Well, that was a mistake. I ordered my filet medium, it came out rare and on second try, it came out half well-done and half medium rare inside and burnt on the outside. My wife's steak was worse. We didn't eat them and the manager took it off the bill. However, when we go out for dinner, we usually want to actually HAVE dinner. As we were leaving we overheard a table of about 6 that were also complaining about their food. The wait staff was great, the cocktails and appetizers were fine. It's too bad because we used to like coming here for special occasions, but this may explain why it's easy to get a table here.
Second time here. Each being a naturally busy day[ Valentines day and New years eve]. Price fix menu very reasonable and excellent. Shrimp cocktail plus salad. Chateaubriand [sp?] for 2 was recommended and it was done perfectly. Service was great- never felt rushed. The place looks a little tired but that may add to its charm. Will return.
Very disappointing. First time there on Saturday night with friends. Appetizers were average and bacon all fat. In fact, waitress who was excellent, was extremely apologetic and took it off bill. Mgr never came over. Things got worst for dinner. All steaks were cooked wrong and waitress blamed busy kitchen and she said they would make price adjustment. They offered us deserts and the banana foster was ok. Indeed, better steakhouse alternatives on Long Island.
We had a great dinner! Our waitress, Erin, was very nice and professional. She was sure not to interrupt during conversation and was knowledgeable of the specials. She came by to check on the table but not to the point that it was annoying. For apps Oysters were good and so were Bacon slab. Porterhouse for 4 was excellent and good to our liking. We will go back.
What a wonderful experience! Our waiter was so nice and polite and he helped to make my birthday special. The tomatoes and mozzarella appetizer tasted so good... the cheese tasted so fresh! And the filet mignon was just melted in your mouth! We will definitely be back again!
The calamari was awesome; a hint of sea salt, not oily and the dipping sauce had a little spice to it. I ordered lobster bisque, which was a bit on the thick side and does not have any actual pieces of lobster in it - a little disappointing. My husband ordered the ribeye, medium, and it came out well. He didn't want to complain too much, but for a $68 ribeye you expect that it's going to be good correctly. They did not ask if he wanted it marinated or blackened, so my husband asked; waitress said they don't do a marinade and it's already lightly blackened. Weird for a steakhouse not to have a marinade option. I ordered the filet mignon dinner with creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. The filet was cooked perfectly, but they blackened the top and bottom of the steak, which I didn't ask for. I've never had a filet mignon 'blackened' before, and it wasn't exactly what I expected. Potatoes and spinach were really very good.
Beer selection is minimal: no blue moon, no true lagers. Definitely more a wine type of atmosphere.
Rug was a bit frayed near our table, but overall decorated nicely.
Not the BEST steakhouse, but it wasn't bad either.
Dining out at Mac's is always a delicious experience, and this dinner was no disappointment. Perhaps the best rib eye steak we've had in many months. Our waiter was kind, thoughtful, and very attentive, but not too attentive! Mac's is a gem and I highly recommend it.
Service was fine. My meal of scallop and shrimp risotto was just ok. Shrimp were overcooked. My dessert, bread pudding, was ice cold and had no sauce or whipped cream to accompany it.
My husband's meal was better. He had the ahi tuna, which was excellent. His chopped salad was just ok. His dessert of cheesecake was good , though.
Have had better meals there in the past. Maybe because it was Restaurant week, quality was lacking. Although, they were not overly crowded at the time.
Very disappointed. The service was terrible, our waiter came by once and then disappeared. After a very long wait, another waiter took our order and brought our food. No one ever checked if we needed anything until the first waiter brought dessert menus. We waited so long to place our dessert order, we finally gave up and just asked for our check. The food was tasty, however, both my husband and myself felt sick the next day and believe it was the food. Would not return nor recommend.
We came in for brunch and they would only seat us at the bar side. They serve what's called a "farmer's plate." The muffin was not fully cooked, the few chunks of cheese were hardened from being old and left out too long, the bagels were two tiny ripped off pieces. We drank our bloody marys and no doubt they had very little (if no) alcohol. The main dish was nothing to brag about and the coffee was simply hot black water.
We brought the undercook muffin to our waitresses attention. She agreed that it was definitely not cooked and just said "sorry." Maybe we were treated with indifference because we used a groupon? But even with the price we paid, this meal was far from worth it. It's too bad because we heard many good things about this restaurant and now there is pretty much no chance we would head over there for a steak dinner.
