Mac's Grill Ratings and Reviews
Our food & drinks were good in the restaurant. Everyone very nice! But we ordered a burger to go for my son & when he went to eat it (shortly after we got home), it was crispy burnt. He ate the fries and a few bites of his burger. I ordered a cheeseburger and got a hamburg. Disappointed. So I say if your going to get food from Mac’s to eat it there, takeout wasn’t good...
Mac's was outstanding! We were up in Maine for a HS hockey tournament, so we asked at the hotel for a good place to get a nice steak dinner. Wow! This place didn't disappoint. Extensive steak choices, plus chicken, pasta, fish, sandwiches, etc. The cuts of beef were equal to or better than what you get at Capital Grille, Morton's, Ruth's Criss...At half the price! It was so good, we went back the next night! Plus, choice of bar or dining room seating is a nice option. I would highly recommend Mac's when you're in the area. Great meal at a great price!!!
Unfortunately this visit wasn't as good as in the past. My husband and I have visited this restaurant on 4 different occasions. The first two visits a couple of years ago and then twice more recently, in the last few months. This visit was not as pleasant as the earlier ones. It was downright cold in the restaurant. Not sure if that was a result of customers coming in and out or just the outdoor temperatures had dropped and the building was not as airtight as it should be.
Also, I purchased a steak and requested it to be medium, after asking if that meant there would be some pink. I was told it would have pink and then I agreed to the medium. (Would have asked for rare otherwise.) When the rib-eye arrived, it was charred on part of the outside and had no pink whatsoever. Very disappointing this type of steak is not exactly cheap. The flavor was good in spite of not being cook to my preference.
The cornbread is always a treat and the waiter was pretty good.
In spite of the service, we will not probably go back again...not even for the cornbread.
We’ve visited twice in the last few weeks. Great service and great food both times. New owners, I think, since the last time we tried Mac’s 6 years ago? Despite it being busy evenings both occasions, we were promptly seated and waited upon. It’s now a go-to place for us! We were a party of 6 and a party of 4...everyone both evenings was very pleased with their meals.
Ribeye was grilled as requested and meat was flavorful delicious fries. Salad was just "ok", could stand more variety in the greens and maybe some croutons. The salad dressing (Italian) tasted a bit on the acid side. Bread was good. Enjoyed the cornbread with peppers. Overall a good meal.
We enjoyed sampling the grill flavorings and then extremely enjoyed our steaks with our choice of grill flavors. Steaks done to order. Presentation was excellent. We had an excellent Birthday Dinner with our son. Thank you to our waiter for outstanding service.
We were somewhat disappointed on this visit as the food was not as good as we are accustomed to for Macs. Steak salad greens not as vibrant as usual and the steak was under seasoned. My wife's haddock was over cooked and fishy. Her broccoli was undercooked although some people may like it that way. Service was excellent and the server comped us for the fish. Not up to usual standard and I hope we recover on our next visit. I've had some unbelievably good meals at macs so hoping it was just an off night.
The only problem we had was that we had to get our own menu's. Not sure if the waitress was stressed because of the size of our party or not. Other than that, she did a great job. Everyone in our group enjoyed our meals. My wife just mentioned that her salmon was a little dry. She ordered it with no glaze because of food allergies. Other than those two issues, everything was great.
We frequently go to Mac's Grill because we know we will get a great meal! I loved my Parmesan crusted haddock and hubby really enjoyed his bacon wrapped steak. The sides were great (broccoli, herb buttered carrots and a salad) and the bread basket is great (cornbread muffins!) The table right behind us was very loud with one guy doing stand-up comedy routines but luckily we were almost done dinner so we skipped dessert.
Reservations are hassle-free and done online! The restaurant is in an excellent location with plenty of parking. We went on Mother's Day and it wasn't overcrowded or chaotic which we loved! We were seated in a private booth surrounded by mountain décor which was really nice. Our server was one of the best we've ever had and the food was simply outstanding. From the blueberry frozen margaritas to the complimentary bread to the BBQ ribs - my Mom had the best (and most delicious) Mother's Day dinner at Mac's. We will most DEFINATELY be returning. A+++++!
Hostess seems a little "short" when we arrived. Not knowing how long it was going to take is in the rain from Connecticut, we planned extra driving time. We told her we knew we were early, but we're willing to wait when she snapped.."I can't possible squeeze you in anywhere!" Like I said, never asked to be squeezed in, but we were the only one waiting for a table and there were 4 tables empty. Our waitress was wonderful
Have been coming to Mac's Grill for over 15 years now. Always a great meal. The noise level was OBNOXIOUS though. My boyfriend and I could not even have a conversation sitting across from each other because of all the yelling at a sporting event that was playing on a tv not even in the bar portion. Only downfall.
If you like places like Texas Roadhouse but are looking for something that's not a chain, this is the place for you. It's more of a southwest theme than Texas Roadhouse and certainly not in the Texas/Country theme, but they have good steaks in a lively atmosphere. The fries are (or at least seem) like they are made in house not frozen.
