Mac's Acadian Seafood Shack Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I have enjoyed Macs numerous times. I have also taken clients there for lunch and dinner meetings. It has always been fantastic. However, we went on Valentines Day and my dish (that I always get), was awful. I was so disappointed. However, that is the first time I have walked out unhappy. Typically a great place.
I love going to Mac's! It's over a 40 minute drive, so I don't go there as much as I'd like. Their food is always great and the prices are reasonable. This is my #1 seafood place -- Better than Real Seafood in Ann Arbor (which is only a 30-minute drive).
Also, they have a rewards club that is free to join and gets you a free appetizerjust for signing up. Sign up with your phone: Text "MACS" to 55678 . ( you will recieve a txt back, leave the card number "blank" and fill in the form to register.)
The folks at the door were friendly and sat us right away. It has a nice open feel with sparse fish decor on the walls. The menus were digital tablets with most items clickable for a description and picture. So far so good. Once the soft drink was dropped off, we were basically forgotten about. Bread was dropped off (tasty) but we still hadn't placed our food order. When our order was finally taken, I felt rushed. The food came out fairly quickly after that and the presentation was very nice. Good use of plate sauce and garnish which made it all the more disappointing when the flavour didn't hold up the expectations. It was instead sweet, bland, and mushy. I was really looking forward to finding another location that serves good fish so I may have to give them another chance but this was not and very promising experience.
Mac's is a wonderful restaurant in downtown Saline. I had not been there in years, but it remained remarkable. Many great, fresh seafood selections. I had the Fisherman's Catch on pasta. The shrimp. scallops and particularly the calamari were perfectly cooked. We will be back much sooner that our last hiatus!
Food was good but service was horrible. It took forever to get our drinks. Waitress never brought any bread. We had to constantly ask for drink refills. Waitress was more interested in what other wait staff was doing, maybe because she’s younger? We were there for my mothers 70th birthday. I had to tell the waitress to fix the bill for the birthday promo. For what we paid, I didn’t feel we received our money’s worth. We’ve been there before and didn’t have issues with service. We will go back again but will request more mature waitstaff. Just unfortunate that we had to experience that on a special night.
We were very disappointed in the food, especially after reading all the four and five star reviews. They had to have been fake or written by people who do not dine out very often. My new york strip was very thin and very overcooked. The calamari is inedible. My husband had the etouffee and he described it as "meh". The coleslaw is drowning in mayonnaise. We do not mind paying a lot of money for excellent food at a great restaurant -- this is not one of them. The ambiance is very nice and the service was very good. Dan's Tavern across the street is much better food and a way better value.
We visited this time for my husbands birthday. They have a great birthday deal which is really nice but even without it we would enjoy going there. The food is excellent (and consistently so) and the staff is helpful and friendly. The food is delicious. Options for non-seafood eaters but definitely a go to for seafood. We are in love with their lobste poutine appetizer. Gator is fun too. All of it is good.
Was disappointed that some of their menu items were not available. They did not have the shrimp n grits and they ran out of rainbow trout. Instead we orders the lobster dinner and broiled scallops, that came with side. Both weee good and at a relatively fair price. Was disappointed they would not give us happy hour deals even though we were adajacent to the bar. The crab sliders had a little to much filling when that small should be lump meat.
We decided to try Mac's based on the reviews on Open Table. We both love calamari and have eaten it at many restaurants across the country. This was the worst we've had--tough, not well fried, and with a poor choice of sauce. A bad start. The rolls were hot and reasonably good. Caesar salads were quite good. The seafood gumbo and jambalaya were both OK--nothing special. We don't plan to go back.
Eaten at Mac's several times and the food and service are consistently good. The night we went they had an awesome salmon special. Another person in our party ordered the salmon from the regular menu. Both were delicious. Wine list is average but they do offer some fun cocktails.
Had a great meal last evening before the pre-concert rush. My wife had her favorite Buffalo Shrimp and gazpacho and I had the summer seafood pasta dish. Outstanding! The cole slaw was perfect. Jen did a great job with the service. A wonderful evening dinner.
