Mac's Acadian Seafood Shack

We had a an early dinner with our UM student son and two of his friends. The food was really good, loved the renovated dining room since our last visit with the new ipad menus with photos. The hostess gave us a perfect table and our waitress (Hailee) was super nice and efficient. I highly recommend all Mac's great seafood dishes. I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and usually avoid crabcakes anywhere west of Maryland. Most of the time they're never close to the east coast quality but I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks Mac-we had a great evening.
Lobster special was disappointing. Waitress was new and service mediocre at best. Have eaten here three or four times. Not impressed.
This is a fantastic restaurant in Saline. I love their seafood - and have only had great meals there!
We both enjoyed the Lobster dinner special during September. Perfectly prepared, excellently served and a great way to enjoy one of our favorite dinners.
My wife had the lobster filled ravioli and I had the New Orleans grilled shrimp. Both were very good. Dan's service was perfect!
Continue to love Macs and bust very regularly. Just wish they could keep staff and lower turnover. In a neighborhood gem it’s nice to have familiar faces.
E-tablet menu gave details about each dish including pictures. Staff was attentive and personable.
Had a great dinner before the weekly music concert. My wife had the gumbo and fish & chips and I had the Grilled Chicken salad. Drinks were great. Service was good.
Food is always great but the service needs to improve and this restaurant would be a great experience instead of just a ok/good experience.
Delicious, affordable food with fantastic service!
Super dry burger - fiod was delivered by a busser that kind of just slammed it down haphazzardly. Fried shrimp was ok but again very dried out shrimp. Gaspacho was ok but did not taste homade.
Bathrooms were really dirty which always makes me wonder about the kitchen cleanliness.
Won’t go back - not worth the drive.
I had the barbecue salmon with salsa and my wife had the buffalo shrimp. The potato pancakes with the salmon were a bit dry and hard to chew. Kiersten's service was very good.
The food was lack luster, the table sticky and the price outrageous.
Our meals were great. My wife had the Buffalo Shrimp and I had the bone-in pork chop with a bourbon glaze. Our service was well handled. A great dining experience.
Our waitress was nice. She took our drink orders and left when she brought them we told her we wanted to order appetizers. She took our dinner order at the same time. Another waiter who was in training showed up with our meals. We told him we had ordered appetizers. While he did apologize I would have expected him or his trainer would have told our waitress or the manager. Nope. Our waitress found out after we were half way through our meal. The food was ok. My husband and I had shrimp with rice and beans. I didn’t think the beans should have been hard. As we were leaving another waitress who apparently was in s big hurry knocked my arm with the bottle of wine she was carrying. When I said owe she asked if she hit me. Really rude
Food was excellent. Our server Rachel was outstanding.
My friend’s engagement. Incredible service and food. Cannot wait to go back, honestly.
food was great, service attentive. Enjoyed the birthday dinner and half off bottle of wine on Tuesday
Very good food. Excellent service at beginning, then our wait staff disappeared during the latter half of dinner till the end but then was very apologetic about the situation.
For a restaurant that I have loved, service and food on this visit were lacking. The bar and food service was slow, and the drinks and food that we ordered wasn’t as tasty as it usually is. In the years I have dined here, the service and food quality was always good. Maybe it was the other restaurants in the area being closed this evening or lack of staff around the holiday that led to my group being disappointed. The drinks were too staring and without flavor, oysters weren’t shucked properly, the pecan crusted fish was soggy, the swordfish was over cooked, as was the salmon. We didn’t opt for dessert based on our drinks, appetizers, and dinner.
I’ll look forward to a better experience next time.
Nice and relaxed place. But no a/c? Fans were going, they need more. 94 outside, so was hoping it would have felt cool inside. If a/c wasn't working the waiter never mentioned it.
My wife had a Mac's hamburger perfectly prepared and I had the crab cake appitizer with gaspacho. Josh did a great job caring for us.
Excellent experience as usual.
Our lunch started off with a very pleasant welcome from our server, Kevin. He walked us through our menu options and patiently repeated as necessary. The meal was delicious, atmosphere great and we never felt rushed to "clear out" as sometimes happens at other restaurants. We chose Mac's because we've enjoyed so many visits in the past.
Had Buffalo Shrimp and the Shrimp Linguini special. Food was great and our new server, Kirsten, did a great job.
The food was unremarkable, and the cocktails were too poor to rate...but the service was great! We had a reservation, but when we arrived, no one asked our name (when we told them we had a reservation) therefore, OPEN table listed us as a no show... the prices are inflated, but no mor so than any other seafood restaurant in this area. I would not go again.
Hostess was rude and not helpful. Didn't want to honor our reservation as it was "made the same day". Also did not want to honor the request for outdoor seating and claimed there was no way thru Open Table to communicate back to the customer about our reservation. Food was just OK. Table service was slow and inattentive. Won't be going back!
A lovely evening had by all.
The pork chop and perch were delicious!
Really good food at reasonable prices. Love restaurants that bring rolls/grain to start! Added that all baked goods (including the rolls) are from local Zingerman's - so known to be delicious. It has been awhile since we have had a chance to drive there for dinner, so glad we did!
My wife and I visited during Saline Restaurant week. The food, as always, was tremendous and the service was excellent.
Always good. Frequent diners and rarely disappointed. Service this date was fabulous and always is when Jenn attends to us; thanks, Jenn!!
Food was great as always, but service was poor this time. I have eaten there a hundred times and always had great service, but this time was not so great.
Everything was perfect, they have a fantastic wait staff.
Great food and Great Service. We had a wonderful meal on Mothers Day
We had a great dinner, with great service. Our server dealt with a younger group (us) very courteously. Overall a very great experience.
We were in Ann Arbor for our son's graduation and found Mac's for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised. Our food was wonderful -- swordfish and Great Lakes whitefish -- fixed perfectly and seasoned just right. Our waiter was very personable. It was an enjoyable evening. We will definitely return on our next trip to Michigan!
When making the reservation, we shared it was for a birthday. No acknowledgement that we were celebrating a birthday from the restaurant.
Booked a table for seven on U of M graduation day. The restaurant was full, and the food service was a little slow, but everything tasted great and the ambience made it feel like a celebration. Very nice choice.
Busy night; thanks for fitting us in. Ihad the grilled salmon with boiled potatoes and my wife had the seafood gumbo and the fried ipswich clams. Both were great.
We had a nice waitress, the food was ok, but for $14, I expected larger and more shrimp on the po boy. My friend felt the sausage ravioli tasted fishy and the sauce was too rich. The calamari is rubbery and not freshly made. They look like tires. They used to be so much better. For the prics, the quality of the food should be much better.
