Food was excellent as always, service was great. Love this place.
Everything we ate was delicious. Our server - I believe his name was Christian - was exceedingly helpful and friendly.
Macello makes great use of the interior space they have. The dining area is adequately separated from the foyer/deli area. We were seated very promptly by a friendly hostess.
We ordered the filetto di manzo (cooked perfectly) and the tartufatta (also delicious). The house red was tasty, and even the house green salad was noteworthy - the dressing was perfectly balanced.
If I had one minor quibble, it would be the flat screen tvs projecting some sporting event. They seemed not to fit with the overall vibe of the place. To the restaurant's credit, I suppose, the volume wasn't on (or I couldn't hear it anyway, which was nice), and the monitors were elevated. But, they did seem out of place. Leave the sporting events to the chain restaurants/sports bars.
Even the distraction of the tv monitors can't detract from a fantastic meal, with great service and ambiance.
We went to see Kevin Hart at United Center and wanted somewhere close. The outside isn’t nothing. The food was excellent. We had Christian and he was great. The atmosphere was awesome. The food n dessert came as a presentation. Would definitely go back
We eat at Macello regularly. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. The teamwork is fabulous. The food is delicious. The Italian food tastes authentic. There is something for everyone on the menu, and the specials are also wonderful. Great food, wine, atmosphere, and service!
Most enjoyable dinner. Can’t wait to go back . Excellent Italian food. Also the fish was cooked perfectly.
always excellent will go there all the time live in the neighborhood and it's a go to
Fresh pasta and sea food! What's not to like? Excellent service with attention to detail. Great place for celebrations of life and friendship. Gives you the feeling of eating in a Tuscan villa.
Macello's has excellent thin crust pizza and a limited but delicious selection of outstanding Italian dishes. The waitstaff is prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. The space is clean, cozy and very nicely decorated.
Wednesdays are particularly enjoyable as they have a very talented and energetic Italian band (accordion, 2 guitars, 2 violins, and a stand-up bass). as well as half priced bottles of wine......makes for a very pleasant evening.
Go here before Hawks and Bulks games, often. Great food, service and ambiance.
We both had pizza which was good, but not spectacular.
Great meal, great service, reasonable prices. Can never say enough about Macello's.
It has the best and most authentic Italian food in the City!
Love the place. Just the food was served very fast. No time to talk a bit. Service was very good but had the feeling we need the table for the next guest.
Delicious, nothing more needs to be said. But I had to fill 50 characters so again, it was delicious!
What a find but apparently we were the only ones that didn't know about it. Fun atmosphere, really good food, some live Italian music and awesome service (Christian?). I have been talking this up and we will definitely be back, which is unusual for us as we like to try new restaurants. Best new discovery for us in a while.
Headed to a show at City Winery and decided on dinner before - Macello's has been a go-to for us for a few years - great spot prior to Bulls/Hawks game at United Center. Cool ambience, delicious cocktails , and good wine! Our server recommended the special appetizer which was a neopolitan pizza with olive oil, arugula and burrata cheese and cherry tomatoes - it was a great way to start the meal - the Chilean Sea bass was a hit - I went with the lamb chop casserole and it was absolutely marvelous!!
The Chilean Sea Bass from the wood oven is some of the best I have ever had!
Food and service are always outstanding. Great place before an event at the United Center.
Always happy with the food and service at this comfortable, authentic Italian restaurant. Very broad menu, great homemade pastas, very large portions, and fun lively atmosphere.
Wonderful, didn't expect it to be so wonderful. Food was AMAZING. Cocktails and server were lovely, too. Didn't break the bank.
Great place to eat. We use it for Hawks pregame for clients and it works well. Always great food, good service, and valet parking if needed. Very cool interior.
As always we all had a grand time, it’s the best Italian restaurant in chicago!
Excellent!!!
Good food, warm atmosphere, nice menu. We go to Macello’s often before theater and are never disappointed.
Friendly and welcoming as always! One of our regular spots downtown.
I love this place. The cozy atmosphere. Delicious food with amazing gluten free options. The service is always great.
Waiter was great. Food hot and good. Very good appetizers too.
Another couple and myself were here on an early Sunday evening. It was relatively quiet probably because there wasn't a hockey game. One person had the Italian wedding soup, the
other two of us had the spinach salad and we all shared a pizza. We all shared the Tiramisu to finish. The others had beer and I had a glass of wine. They have a good list for wines by the glass and the waiter offered me tastes of the two wines I was interested in and wasn't familiar with. That always gets a lot of points with me. We all enjoyed the food, the service and the ambience and this is a go-to place for us to get together and catch up. We can be equally casual as we were on this occasion or have a party as we did for two of our birthdays.
Great place to go before a hawks game, if your in a rush they get you in and out without affecting the quality of food.
👍
Terrific authenic italian food. Pizza is awesome and cannoli's the best in the city!
I went on Valentine's Day with this girl I've been seeing and we had a wonderful time. The ambiance, service, and especially the food were spectacular. Absolutely will be coming back.
Had a very disappointing Valentine's Day dinner there. Boyfriend got there early and sat for about 15 minutes before he waved over the server to take a drink order. The stuffed artichokes were...I don't know what they were. They were artichoke bottoms stuffed with cheese and served in hot water. Very unappetizing and they didn't taste very good at all. The braciole with pasta was very under seasoned. Pizza was okay, however in my opinion the crust was way too thin. Weird italian radio on the speakers, including jarring advertisements. Won't be returning.
Great service! Wonderful waiter! I would like to say, thank you!
Went for a Valentines’s dinner. Service was excellent.
Delicious food, great wine, excellent service, just the right size.
Excellent food; loved the ambiance.
Octopus was like rubber rest of the food was good but nothing special
Very authentic food and wines outside Puglia (Italy). Great lamb, pastas, salad and wines. Always a fantastic experience with friendly, professional staff. A must for true Italian food.
Excellent meal tonight. Restaurant week offerings were delicious and quite a good bargain. Everything was good, the salad, the risotto, the lamb chops and dessert. Excellent value tonight. Pizza and the griglia mista were excellent too.
We chose Macello because of its proximity to Revel Fulton Market, where we were headed for a charity event. Macello is a great place to go for really delicious Italian food, especially the pizza. We went with my parents who have visited Italy many times, and they said it was the best pizza they had eaten in a long time.
