Italian cuisine from the Puglia region of Italy, Steaks & Chops. Macello, a rustic Italian restaurant and market/deli located in the Warehouse District (West Loop), offers an airy dining room with wood beams, exposed brick, and two wood-burning ovens. The menu features plenty of thin crust pizza; linguine with mixed seafood in a spicy cherry tomato sauce. The butcher shop inspired market located in the front of Macello stocks cured meats, cheese and food from the Puglia region- the "boot heel" of Italy. Macello appropriately translates to "slaughterhouse"-- the building housed a slaughterhouse in the 1920s.

Always great food and great service! We always enjoy our time at Macellos!
Always a great meal and friendly Attentive service At Marcello.
Always good ....rich flavors...tempting aromas....great service
we had a fantastic waiter who helped to make the evening really fun, but, the food was just okay and a bit pricey and we wouldn't rush back.
Nice place for Family outings or Friends- good service and food
Our food was excellent. My pasta with octopus was al dente pasta and very tasty. My wife had pizza. We felt like we were in Napoli with that one. Our server was excellent, and very enthusiastic. We would go to Macello again, anytime.
Within steps of my office and it's a great place to step away for lunch. Dinner is also a great time to come. Love the atmosphere and the smell coming from the woodfired grill. This hidden gem is a must if you haven't experienced it yet.
The food was absolutely fantastic and the service is exactly what you would expect of a nice west loop eatery. However, I went on a date and it was way too bright and there was absolutely no music or ambiance whatsoever. I would recommend this place for a group or family but not a good date spot. Wine selection is nice.
Great food and our server was excellent. We ordered the grilled calamari, Macello salad, lamb casserole, and African prawns. Each dish was great and large enough to be shared. I also enjoyed the nice romantic ambiance.
Overall a very good value and enjoyable place to eat.
One of the best undiscovered restaurants in all Chicagoland is now becoming a Chicago Hot Spot. We have enjoyed eating there for several years. The quality remains exceptional and the wait staff is second to none.
Have been here a few times and always have a great experience! Fun ambiance and delicious food!
Terrific authentic Italian food.. the Chippolina fresh seafood was AMAZING!. Great flavor, and just the right combination of shellfish. The baby lamb chops were incredible. The atmosphere is friendly and not overwhelming.. clearly the focus is on the food!
Fast and delicious food
It was my birthday and as alway it was fantastic, food ,service , and the space is amazing...best Italian restaurant in chicago!
Lively, friendly atmosphere. Interesting and fun decor. Food is always so fresh and flavorful. You feel like one of the family there.
Always a great experience at Macello!!
Gustavo our server was fantastic. Everything was exceptional.always good food and a fun place
Food was great, service was efficient, and we had a great time!
Best restaurant in Chicago. Everything is fresh and cooked to perfection.
It was a great overall experience. Awesome food and drinks!
Authentic Italian. Loved the building, ambiance, everything very enjoyable.
Very nice ambiance but expensive for what we got, and the service could really use an improvement.
Great ambiance and service. I ordered a $44 steak that was a bit overcooked and lacked flavor.
Great service, very impressed and would come back
Moved back to Chicago after several years the place is still consistent and beautiful glad to have had a wonderful experience as we once remembered
It was a wonderful night with excellent food great service Italian e music you love every bit of it!
The best Italian restaurant in the area.
Everything was great!
Excellent pizza from wood fired oven. Restaurant week menu was good and service was superb.
We went to Macello to try their restaurant week menu and we were quite pleased with our meal. The restaurant is located in a an old warehouse/factory building. The focal point of this restaurant is the wood fired oven and it is a pity that a pizza was not on the restaurant week menu.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our server, Ivan, was very attentive and friendly. All of the dishes were tasty and the wine we selected of the restaurant week menu was very good. I would have given them 5 stars but I noticed that we did not get a shot of Lemoncello at the end of dinner. I have a feeling that was not part of the restaurant week promotion.
My wife and I are already making plans to take our son to Macello when he comes home on spring break from college. I have a feeling he will enjoy this restaurant as much as we did.
The food was delicious! The bar staff was very friendly. It was a nice, comfortable evening out just us two.
Our waiter, Gustavo, is amazing. We keep returning because of the excellent food, friendly atmosphere, and service.
The food was not great unfortunately. Didn’t have much flavor. Majority of people in our party did not like it and wouldn’t return.
Macello's is the best Italian cuisine on the planet. The surf and turf I ate was out of this world. This included massive prawns and rack of lamb. The meal was paired with Papale primitivo. I highly recommend Macello's.
Had a fantastic experience with Gustavo when I came here for my girlfriend’s birthday and ordered off the Chicago Restaurant Week menu.
