Fourth time visiting this establishment, and it has never failed me. From the hearty meatballs with a bit of bite to the beignet-like zeppole at the climax, this was a transcendent experience. And don't get me started on the wine list. GO.

We dined at the bar. This place is a gem. We have eaten Italian all over Sout Florida and this by far is the most outstanding.
The restaurant is casual but they take their food seriously! Cudos

This hidden gem was one of the best things about my recent trip to Miami. I will absolutely be visiting this restaurant next time I'm in town!

Stop what you're doing and go get yourself some of their pasta. Words can't describe just how good it is...especially when you on $10 Pasta Thursdays....the short rib lasagna is next level.

This restaurant missed the mark for me. Its on a few lists of a great Italian spot to try out in Miami but I didn't find the food to be very impressive. The service we received was great and the ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and cozy; it seems like a great place to drink some good wine with friends at the bar in an intimate setting.
We had the broccolini and the buratta for our appetizers. The broccolini unfortunately was not broccolini but broccoli rabe which is not the same thing! I'm not sure why they call it this on the menu but this of course ended up being bitter as broccoli rabe tends to be. It wasn't a bad dish but it wasn't what I expected or wanted to so I didn't really eat it. The buratta was quite good and the marinated tomatoes that came with it were very tasty. That dish came with bread but the waitress still asked us if we wanted bread (which they charge for; I think this is a bit tacky).
For our entrees we shared the short rib lasagna and the cavatelli. The short rib lasagna was good; it was very rich and much more meat/gravy based then tomato based. I don't know what cheese was layered in here but I didn't love how it melted or the ratio of it to the noodle. The short rib itself was good.
The cavatelli was the miss for me. The bite of the pasta was perfect, al dente to a T; but the sauce and cheese they mixed in just gave it a musty taste for me; I didn't really like it. We did not have dessert but not for any reason except for being full.

We had the Chef’s Tasting - the meal was wonderful! Wish the entree portion was a little bigger as we’re pretty fit and can have quite an appetite, but we’ll be happy to be back soon!

Chose this restaurant based on its online menu, then found it was not the same as the one we were given on arrival. Had I seen the actual menu I would not have gone there.

Horribly noisy -- brick walls bounce the sound and above it all was loud music with a heavy base line. It made normal conversation impossible.

Appetizers were good, as were three of five dishes but its lasagna was awful -- greasy in texture and unappetizing in color.

The staff and chef were very accommodating to my husbands dietary needs and even made whol wheat pasta for us! The food was all very good and authentic Italian. The only negative was the rap music that was playing all through dinner. It definitely ruined an otherwise great experience. We couldn’t hear ourselves talk and it didn’t go with the nice atmosphere...management should reconsider the type of music. At least until past dinner hours.

Great ambiance. The decor and ambiance reminded me of a nice NYC Neighborhood restaurant. The food was excellent and the pasta was delicate. I would return. The waitresses recommendations were perfect for us.

I a Miami Beach local and have dined at Macchialina many times in the past. The food has always been quite good. However this was not the case on 7/21/18, and perhaps they simply had a bad night in the kitchen. My chicken dish came out cold twice (sent it back one time and just ate the second dish because I was starving). Two other diners at my table sent their pasta dishes back because they were undercooked. In combination with the ridiculously loud table next to us, we just wanted to pay our bill and leave. I may consider returning to this restaurant in the future, but as you well know Miami and Miami Beach just have too many good choices to accept a less than dining experience for the prices we must pay.

UNBELIEVABLE tasting menu and wine pairing, very reasonably priced as well. We were excited to try the tasting menu but were worried it would be too light. Lucky for us, it was ridiculously filling, more dishes than expected and the wine pairings were surprising and delicious. The service was also astounding, very considerate and always willing to talk us through all the food options.

Awesome find in Miami. Coming from New York and being somewhat snobbish about the quality of food we were skeptical about having such delicacies in Miami. Michael whites restaurants are on our repertoire and I can tell you that this is a standout for anyone visiting or living in the area. Prosciutto and all the cured meats top notch. Pastas as if I were seated in a trattoria in Roma. Bravo ! Too bad we were just visiting!

We arrived early for our reservation and wanted to sit at the bar and order drinks before dinner but were told that was not possible and instead sat us at our table early and gave us an 1:45 minute time limit.

The antipasti (creamy polenta, polpettine) were excellent. The fluke that the server recommended as a special was good, if small, but way overpriced. She did not tell us the price until after we placed the order ("...by the way, just so you know..."). I suppose we could have cancelled the order but chose to let it go through. The veal milanese was stale and dry. Found an unpretentious wine from NW Italy that we had never tasted and thoroughly enjoyed (2015 Enfer d'Avier from Val d'Aosta). The dessert (panna cotta with apricots and dried lavender flowers) was good. Overall the restaurant was good but did not meet our expectations.

This place never disappoints! Staff was friendly. We sat outside on the side walk. Very accommodating with our toddler. Food is always good! The creamy polenta & branzino were my favorites. The fish was golden with crispy sides everywhere. Lavender pannacota was great & unexpected. Loved it here!

I pass by for the second time, last one was like 3 years ago, and definitely things change a lot, is not anymore a truly and cozy Italian restaurant, the service was compare with quick service, nothing especial and everything in a rush. the food was below average for a place like this, the vongole Pasta was extremely hot, my friend wasn't able to eat it, i change it for mine (Lasagna) but even me that i like and tolerate very much hot dishes was not enjoyable. We advise the waiter that didn't care about the comment. too expensive for not being especial and having a very poor service.

so sad to see restaurants like this loosing the essence and the wow Factor.

Best JC

Macchialina is a wonderful restaurant. Small and intimate, not quiet, but somehow the ambient noise is not disturbing and adds to the energy of the place. The service is always excellent and the waiters are well versed about the food and wines they serve. The portions are small, that is for sure. Except the veal which is a huge slab of veal and was really nothing special. The polenta with Bolognese sauce was quite good as were the salads and the fish. The bread pudding for dessert was really good but too small a serving to share if you like desserts. We have dined here many times and will continue to patronize and recommend this place.
