Macchialina Taverna Rustica Ratings and Reviews
Macchialina was amazing! We were in Miami for 5 days and it was hands down the best meal we had there. We had the tasting menu and it was the best. They weren't fazed by the fact that I'm vegetarian and made all the courses without meat. Each course was so delicious! Particular standouts were the amuse bouche (grilled bread with burrata etc.), the polenta, the beet ravioli and the branzino! Also, our waiter was great. We were there on a Monday night and the place was packed, for good reason. Deliciously memorable meal!
I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for a long time and I can't believe that I haven't gone before! The food is exquisite - all pastas are made in-house and are fresh and delicious. I had the tagliatelle with mushrooms, which was a simple, four-ingredient dish but the taste was not simple at all - it was complex and beautiful. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We also got the pear, rutabega and gorgonzola salad, cheese plate and fresh burrata. I would say skip the cheese plate because it is probably not worth the price - the cheeses were good but nothing to write home about! The restaurant itself is small and quaint, but definitely lively. I will definitely be going again!
Our first visit will not be our last. We were a bit unsure what to expect when we walked in as we thought we were going to a more "refined" restaurant. Perhaps the atmosphere was not what we expected but the food surpassed our expectations. The flavors, textures and composition were quite refined. We were surprised to see a "chef's choice" tasting menu as an option. We thought our dining experience was going to be a one time thing so we figured we might as well give it a try since we did not think we would be going back. What a magnificent surprise we had. Every item that was served was delectable, prepared perfectly and lots of it.
We can't wait to go back to try the dining experience again.
Great little restaurant. I had picked this place because my
Gf is vegetarian and I like steaks. We were in from out of town. They had a NY Strip on the menu online, but it was not on their menu the night we went. Fairly disappointed in that but the other food was good. Just need to update online menu.
This place is fabulous and one that you must eat at if you haven't already been there and love authentic Italian! Great Wine Great Food and the challenge of parking is well worth it. Pay for extra parking time...... its cheap, or take an Uber. Take an Uber anyway and enjoy the wine and bar.....
We love this place! From Thursday night $10 pastas to Sunday pizzas (prereserve and they are Sicilian, so not a thin crust) and all everyday dining. Truly great Italian. Don't come here if you are looking for an "olive garden" type restaurant. This is much better and authentic. We live nearby and are so glad we can walk over whenever we are in town. Oh, and try their house made lemoncello and chocolate liquor... all I can say is wow!
The food took about 45 minutes to arrive to the table. After that a server broke glassware on our feet. The worst part was that when the waitress brought the check it was for a certain amount and when our cards were swiped and brought back, she changes the amount. When we asked to see the original check she said she couldn't find the original one. Really bad experience.
A review of the menu offerings suggests that there is nothing exceptional about Macchialina. Nothing could be further from the truth! "Exceptional" is far too anemic an adjective to describe this rare gem. Chef Michael does not cook; rather, he creates inspired Italian food that makes you question if you have every had great Italian before!! In Chef Michael's hands ubiquitous dishes like lasagna or spaghetti pomodoro are anything but commonplace. Indeed, these creations capture your attention upon the 1st taste making you and your guests focus on how incredible the food is.
Notwithstanding, Macchialina accolades do not end with Chef Michael's inspired creations because the staff provides excellent service and creates a welcoming atmosphere where you feel at home even on your 1st visit. Further, the bartender (taking a cue from Chef Michael) creates inspired libations that simultaneously demand your attention and bring a smile to your face.
Clearly, Macchialina is an "All-Pro" veteran of the industry exhibiting a level of skill and sophistication that is 2nd to none. While a foundation of exceptional skill and sophistication often manifests into pretentious exclusivity, Macchialina's foundation supports an unassuming and welcoming environment equally suited for the most demanding foodie or the casual dinner looking for an outstanding dining experience.
In sum, Macchialina provides a transformative dining experience by creating a refuge from life's trials and tribulations allowing you (if only for a few hours) to enjoy a great meal with the ones you love.
Fantastic! After reading up on other diners' positive reviews and seeing that the chef was a James Beard finalist we decided to try this restaurant during our girls trip to Miami. What a great find! Seemed like more of a locals place than a tourist hangout. The food and service was EXCELLENT! The shortrib lasagna may be the best pasta dish I've ever had! The pasta is all homemade and melted in your mouth. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. We even got to meet and snap a photo with Chef Pirolo who happened to pop out for a minute. He was very kind and gracious to us. Our waitress was a lovely woman from the Czech Republic who was attentive and helpful. The ONLY negative thing I could say about this place was that the lighting is way too dark and you cannot read the menus at all--maybe add a little more light in the place and it's perfect!!
