In the restaurant dinners are served in the former library, graced by two river-stone fireplaces, candles and garden flowers on the tables or, informally, in the sun porch café.
All food is prepared to order with an emphasis on the use of sustainable meats and seafood along with organic produce to create delicious fresh cuisine.
The food is complimented by an extensive wine list featuring local and regional bottles at reasonable prices; there is a full bar and innovative cocktail list with seasonal cocktails and creative concoctions.
Unfortunately we are unable to accept Open Table gift cards or checks for payment in our restaurant.

Amazing experience! Staff were all so friendly and attentive and very accommodating with minor special requests. The food was absolutely outstanding - I would eat there every day if I could! Highly recommend this place!!

A wonderful experience from the moment we walked in. Arrived a half hour early to enjoy the incredible bar selections. Our table was ready punctually. Our server was delightful and the food well thought out and delicious. Have been here several times - a sure winner in my book!

Good food. Fresh salad and oysters. The Sea Bass was excellent and good portions. The service was friendly, but unrefined for a higher-end restaurant. The waiter threw a log on the fire with a thud, just as he asked us about the menu. What's the focus? A support table server hiccuped as she cleared a plate. Cute, not as bad a burp, but really?

The food was excellent. The waiter was pleasant and professional. The room was a very comfortable with a nice fireplace.
We were celebrating our anniversary over the past weekend. The place is lovely and charming; the waiter attentive but not overly. The meal started off really well with delicious cocktails, oysters were fresh and the jalapeño mignonette surprisingly good and not overwhelming, beet salad with frisee, candied pecans, tangerine reduction, and Humboldt Fog Blue Cheese was very tasty but my husband would rather have had the cheese crumbled instead of a small wedge, my gnocchi appetizer was tender and cooked to perfection. The problem came with the main course. My husband's entire plate was cold (steak, brussel sprouts, potato gratin) as though it was pre-made and left to sit out. My rabbit ragout was tasty but the polenta was really boring and tasted more like flour than grain. We ordered dessert and coffee (brought out cold which they fixed and removed from the bill). The banana split with three different house made ice creams, toasted hazelnuts, and chocolate sauce was very good and I loved the poppy seed beignet with lemon curd and candied zest. Would definitely eat here again for a light meal: ambiance, drinks, apps, dessert - but would skip the main course.

One of the best restaurants in Mendocino for a bit of upscale dining. Was there on a Friday evening when a local jazz duo was performing. Enjoyable, pleasant music while you dine. Great experience.
I'd heard about MacCallum House for years and impulsively decided to take advantage of an available booking. I tried one of the daily specials, and my husband tried one of the standing menu options, and both were expertly prepared. Service was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive.
The "sequencing" of the dinner, which can be an issue for so many restaurants, was also perfect. Our courses seemed to arrive at the table at the right time - but we never felt as if dishes were piled on top of one another, or that we were being hurried through our meal. I note that our reservation was on a Friday evening (and holiday weekend), so kudos to the entire staff for providing a quality dining experience.
We're been here several times, and always enjoyed the ambience and food. This time, one dinner was outstanding: the steak; the other was a miss: risotto patties.
The patties were gray, with dry, crusty tops. They were dry, tasteless, and unappealing. The greens were an odd combination, again with little flavor, and little cooking.
It was the night after Valentine's day; I wonder if the kitchen staff was worn out.

The menu is not extensive but varied. The wine list is extensive. Very good service and excellent meal.
After waiting several minutes for the “host” to finish a conversation with some regulars, we were approached as if we didn’t have a reservation. Worse yet, we were staying at the inn. Server described the soup as potato leek, but we could taste neither potato or leek. Fish special (scallops) were delicious, but over-priced.
We just love this place. We just took my mother there for her birthday and had a lovely meal, great service, all in a delightful setting.

Best duck breast of my life! My friends rabbit was noteworthy as well. Quiet, wonderful place in Mendocino suitable for romantic couples, groups of friends who want to be able to talk and even my 87 year old friend who wanted a special nite out. Not cheap.

Came here for the first time and had an excellent meal. Teelo had the duck and it was absolutely the best duck either one of us have ever had anywhere. Very plump, not fatty, wonderful sauce, just wonderful. Jaylo had the beef and it was also outstanding. We came here because our usual favorite restaurants in town were closed for a January break. Glad that happened, from now on, every trip up here we will come here to eat.
The only issue was the restaurant was really busy, busier than what they were expecting I believe as the waiter said how busy it had been, and it was obvious he was working hard, but I think they could have used at least another waiter, and maybe even a water/drink helper as keeping the water glasses full was an issue. Next year, on MLK weekend, they should plan for a busy weekend, especially if 2 other restaurants are closed again.
The food was excellent as well as the service. I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.
We enjoyed both our meal and the lovely setting in this historic house. My gnocchi was flavorful and creative, and my husband enjoyed his venison.

This was not our first dining experience at McCullen House. The food is always 5 star and the service is excellent. This is our favorite restaurant when visiting Mendocino

Excellent! The food was amazing, our server was attentive yet not obtrusive -- but the real star was the food! So good! Especially the cheese for dessert, what a treat.
Absolutely love splurging on the seasonal tasting menu with wine pairing. Fabulous place to stay and dine on the beautiful Northern California coast.
The Leek soup was very unexciting. The bleu cheese salad was also nothing to write home about. The scallops were delicious and so were the cocktails. The ambiance was ok but the large table we were sat nexto were arguing making for an unsavory meal. Did I mention the cocktails were delicious? All in all, for the price, I didn’t feel like it was worth it.
