About Macarena Tapas
Macarena Tapas is a casual Spanish eatery that serves both traditional as well as innovative contemporary dishes. The restaurant has an intimate ambiance that makes it a great place for a romantic date or a relaxed dinner. Owner and Chef John Borras is particular about using high-quality ingredients to serve guests the best of Spanish flavors. Macarena Tapas also features a full-service bar.
The menu at Macarena Tapas features a wide range of both cold and hot tapas. Popular cold tapas dishes include garlic potato salad, classic Spanish marinated scallop and shrimp salad and a platter of cured Serrano ham, sausage, Manchengo cheese and olives. Some of the recommended hot tapas selections include classic Spanish-style meatballs with tomato sauce and artisan white cheese, mussels in a spicy tomato-based sauce and crab cakes topped with Asian coleslaw and paprika aioli sauce.

Macarena Tapas Ratings and Reviews
We had an amazing experience at Macarena Tapas. It is a small quaint restaurant with a very friendly staff. John the owner has such a warm inviting manner, we felt welcome immediately. The food was fantastic! We tried all different varieties of tapas, from tenderloin, chicken, different types of cheeses to seafood. They were all delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
What a wonderful find! We usually shy away from suburban restaurants preferring downtown Chicago. However, Macarena breaks the bland suburban mold by delivering unique and creative selections in a warm inviting environment with great service. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and can hardly wait to return. Bravo!
Quality of food was just OK relative to prices charged. Tried 6 different dishes and only a few were in the very good category. Crab cakes were not very good. There were no dishes that met the quality of the high prices charged for very small servings which is essential to enjoying small bite food that should be very high quality. Taste did not equal the nice appearance of the food. Another tapas in the area serves better food, has larger portions for sharing and far superior atmosphere for similar pricing. Will go back there instead for tapas. Waitress was very nice. No problem with service.
Creative, fun and delicious best describe this little gem. Brothers John and Victor Borras have built a delightful paean to traditional Spanish tapas with a Latin American flair. Perfect for a dinner date or just a get together with friends or family, this place is small and comfortable as well as adventurous and entertaining.
First time went on a Wednesday and food was great, service was better, and ambiance was intimate. Second time went on a Friday and food was poorly cooked (either rushed or reheated), service was non-existent, and the ambiance shifted to obnoxious. They may not be able to do much about other people eating dinner but they can offer consistency. We will go back because the first experience left me wanting more. Hate to give a poor review, just consider the time and day to go.
Every time I have been to this restaurant I always leave feeling fully satisfied! I cannot say that about other Tapas restaurants in the area. The flavors are fantastic and so are the drinks!! I will come back to this Macarena Tapas much more often!!!
They have great weekday specials! Better than cooking at home!!
Food was awesome. Service was not as attentive as times past (it took like 15 minutes between the end of dessert and getting our bill). There was one particularly loud group that made our experience a little less enjoyable. We'll be back since this wasn't the norm. Hopefully my next review will be more stars.
