Beautiful cocktails to start
A perfect setting for our first formal meal as man and wife.
Food was outstanding, and surprisingly quick.
The Wagyu beef was extraordinary, service was meticulous from start to finish without being overbearing.
Hopefully we will be able to dine here again before we head back to the UK,
It was really great, the restaurant and bar are both set up nice and the staff is friendly. Food was good and didn't break the bank.
First impression was excellent. I was running late for my reservation and they were very accommodating, which was a major plus for me. Upon walking in, I was impressed with the feel and look of the place. I loved the bartender attire and the layout was functional and open, yet very cozy and romantic. Unfortunately, our waitress was not pleasant and showed little interest in us from the first hello, which proved to be quite frustrating throughout the course of our meal. We started off with the oysters which were fresh and delicious. We also had the pork belly and chicken dumplings that were just mediocre. Nothing exceptionally different or delicious ..especially not $15 for 4 ok tasting dumplings. I chose the Wonton Noodles and was very disappointed; there was no flavor ! I was hoping to experience that fusion of Chinese and Portuguese cuisine, but instead, just left completely confused by the menu and the lack of flavor. Thankfully, despite our disappointment with the meal, we did enjoy our cocktails !
Perfect for a Friday night! Happy vibes and the Excellent music setlist makes difficult to go away... The food is wonderful
Our waitress stopped by about every 90 seconds and was clearly very eager to turn over the table which kind of ruined the experience.
The staff (Daniel in particular) were wonderful. An unruly table of 6 men were seated next to us and he handled them well and made us feel at home.
Had a great time, the food was really good, the server was nice and attentive. I loved the ambiance and music.
Macao is fantastic, I adore the ambience and decor. The food was incredible, we had fried chicken dumplings, bacon and shrimp fried rice and lobster noodles. All of it was on point, the dumplings may have been the best part of dinner. Cocktails are tremendously good and unique, my favorites were the Odd Job and Yellow Fever #2.
We tried this gem based on an associate recommended Macao and we loved the concept. Food was fantastic. Space was cozy yet loud-vibrant. Service was on top of it, although she seemed distracted every time we asked a question, maybe overwhelmed by the crowd. The Porterhouse Steak was phenomenal and the accompaniment paired with it perfectly.
We enjoyed our experience but we were sitting downstairs and the service wasn't as strong. Took forever to get our drinks and clear away empty plates. I looked over a few times and our waitress was flirting and laughing with the bartenders while our drinks and water were empty. Wasn't impressed with her.
The Brussels sprouts were killer, as were the drinks. But everything else (ribs, fried rice, daily special) was crazy salty. It was a bit disappointing.
Food was delicious!
This is my favorite spot for Monday night in NYC. The live music is perfect for many occasions. Musicians are awesome. It has good cocktails, appetizers and entrees. Also, the ambiance is pretty cool and cozy. I strongly suggest this place.
we went here for my birthday, it was a perfect night! the food, drinks, and ambiance are incredible. really fun spot with some of the best food in nyc. it's open late night too. pretty sure this place gets busy, but we had the spot pretty much to ourselves on a sunday night. super romantic. the music is on point and that staff is clearly passionate about the restaurant. oh and delicious vegetarian options. can't wait to go back.
We had the best time on Friday night dinner. Dan was the best at guiding us through the food and drink menu!! Atmosphere was amazing, and I only wish we could have stayed to hangout downstairs for the rest of the night. Will be back!!
I love Macanese food, so was looking forward to dinner here with my husband. The food was well prepared, but considerably less spicy than I was expecting. Perhaps watered down a bit too much to suit local tastes?
Food was excellent. Drinks well balanced. Hostess was kind and accommodating. We had a great time. Would def return
Joe and Huros were our bartenders. Service, food and cocktails were beyond wonderful. Can’t wait to come back! AMAZING PLACE!
My family really loved the food and ambience was good too
My favorite new restaurant . 100%. I highly recommend this place. Beautiful atmosphere and lighting. The wait staff was excellent and super attentive. Thank you for such a lovely evening.
Lobster Noodles was delicious and portion was large.
This place is always great
Excellent food and service! The place is enchanting!
The restaurant itself was beautiful and the service was adequate. However it was terribly overpriced given both the quantity and quality of food. Avoid!
Overall, a mediocre experience at best. All of the food we ordered tasted exactly the same, there was no differentiated flavor in all the dishes we ordered.
For example, the fish we ordered was completely bland, and when we complained to the waitress about the taste, her reaction was "that's just the way it is, I never recommended that dish (which she neglected to tell us when we were ordering)". She suggested we use Sriracha. This would be the reaction I would expect from my local Chinese restaurant not one that purports to sell high-end Chinese cuisine.
Good ambience overall, and maybe we got them on an off night, but certainly not worth the trek downtown – next time I'm going to my regular Oriental Garden in Chinatown.
Danny our server was amazing, and the food here is always wonderful!
Everything taste delicious every time I visit. Good to go with a small group and share plates.
Love love love the food! The Lobster Noodles are to die for!
The place was nice, however on the overpriced side, given that the food was just OK, but nit great by any means. On the positive side, the service was quite good.
Really bad acoustics. Had to scream across the table.
The food and cocktails are exceptional! The vibe is swanky and NYC. Love this place!
I know Macao well but haven’t been in for a while. The food and service were really great. It was a reminder of how good things can be. I’ve stayed away from restaurants cause they are so often too crowded and too noisy which can be exhausting and unpleasant. Somehow despite sitting at a table which was too close to other people and too small for our plates the food and the efforts of the staff made it much better.
Honestly they wouldn't seat us even though nobody was in restaurant. We had to literally stand outside and make an opentable to go inside and get seated. Absurd.
We had to wait for our table to be ready and service was only fair. The place was loud but with great music. I'd like to try it at a time when it isn't so packed
I always go to Macao when I travel to NYC.
Ordered several things, stand-outs were:
-apps: brussel sprouts and apples.
-entrees: lobster noodles and the steak
Staff is awesome, very attentive and on their game.
From the hostess to the servers, even when it is busy.
Not suitable for kids really. Is loud, dark and menu is more for adult palate.
Good for date, you will be seated close to other diners.
I like this place a lot.
A well thought out decor and ambiance with great cocktails. We had the pleasure of being entertained throughout our night by a 6 piece band. Great spot for an intimate date, or to catch up with friends.
I would recommend to friends, and I plan to go back in the future.
This is my wife and I favorite spot! We go there often. It's amazing experience and it has amazing food! We had the crispy fish and the lobster noodles...OMG!!! We also had the favorite fried rice and some veg and enjoyed it.
We have never had a bad experience here.
Everything Chan he’d in macao, not the same food anymore. Last time will be there
Great food and ambiance - no denying that. Service was good but i hate waiting 15+ mins for a reserved table. Especially when it was quite clear but all of our party was able to stand comfortably.
We were squeezed onto a table for 2 - not ideal when the food comes out across multiple plates due to the sharing nature of the menu.
Dessert selection was a little boring compared to the rest of the menu.
This was our second trip. The first time was just my husband and I and much better!
