While many Indian Restaurants now use short-cuts in their cookery, the chefs at Ma Goa are proud of the fact that each of their dishes are cooked individually, The Kitchen is very much a Family operation - Ma still cooks most mornings while Dee's three children contribute ideas and love to help the chefs!
In 2017, the Kapoor family did a complete overhaul of their successful eatery. Adding a craft beer tap wall and replacing the white table cloths with a rustic, marketplace interior, they have brought Ma Goa back to its roots: fuss-free, authentic food straight from the streets of India.

Fab food, friendly efficient service, great atmosphere. Love this restaurant
Always a great place to eat, not your bog standard curry in any way....really interesting dishes.
Really lovely staff, once they gave us a table in the wine shop next door because they were full....We've been here lots of times and will keep coming back.
In short...Almost not keen to write a good review as it's hard enough to get a table as it is!!
Go...you'll love it!
I always have a lovely time at Ma Goa and it's one of my fave restaurants in Putney! This time I took my dad as he was visiting and everything was delicious - the 4* was only because the dishes were a little too salty! We had the lamb shank, pork vindaloo, and a couple of the small veg dishes (the aubergine and tauri fries). The staff were really attentive and the wine was also great. Can't wait to return!
Lovely place, very stylish and an original presentation of Goan food, such a nice variation from mainstream Indian style dining.
Menu options may feel slightly limited, I appreciated the quality rather than the quantity however, and look out for the specials.
I like this friendly local Indian. The food is always good, the service is great, I really like the staff here. Informal and reliable.
A thoroughly enjoyable, good value meal in this busy restaurant
This is a Putney stalwart. Consistently high standard of food and service. Diverse range of dishes showing individuality and flair.
I have been to Ma Goa many times. As usual, i enjoyed great food and friendly services! Good selection of vegetable dishes.
Excellent food with a creative menu. Nice decor and friendly staff. Looks very busy so make sure you book a table.
The food was simply awesome, we picked this restaurant as the menu was so appealing, there wasn’t anything on it we didn’t want to try, the flavours were just wonderful I just wish this restaurant was next door to my house!
Great food and excellent service. No pork vindaloo however the chef came and talked through other options which was really good. Bit noisy (strange choice of music) and we came out smelling of the meal however this doesn't detract from and overall 5* evening
Outstanding food - only one dish disappointed (the aubergine). Service was very good with a slightly too long gap between first and second courses (we were hungry so that's a minor quibble). Can't wait to go back
Very lucky to have such a great restaurant with a short walk. Very popular so best to book to avoid disappointment. Food excellent, try the 'dressed' popadoms, they are delicious. Good value wine list.
Our service and food were outstanding. We will 100% recommend this to others.
I’m a huge fan of South Indian food and this place doesn’t disappoint. Delicious dishes with varied flavours, (whole spices peeping through) and luscious gravy was bountiful- mopped up with fluffy light flatbread (naan type bread). We enjoyed Bella’s lamb, a prawn and aubergine dish, puris and tauri fries. Accompanying coconut rice was fragrant, pretty and delicately flavoured. A short, but tasty Negroni complimented the food. The icing on the cake for the three of us diners was friendly and discreet service, a rare find these days. Another wonderful evening at this simply delightful restaurant.
We absolutely loved it . Food delicious service quick .
Authentic Goan dishes as well as other options. Our choices were delicious.
Murgh Makhni & Porco Vindaloo are to die for. No other curry will compare.
Fantastic food, staff , service and atmosphere! We will be back!
Great indian street food - now the third time I've been and works well for just 2 or a group. Wine from next door wine shop is great too, as well as the craft beer selection. I'll be back.
Very expensive for what you get. One small samosa with beans starter £7, mains £11. Nearly had lamb shank but glad I didn’t as 1 lamb shank £16. Overall disappointing when considering cost v portion sizes. Bill for 2 with shared starter, 1 paratha, and 2 mains and 1 small beer £55.
Delicious curries and beer! Funky decor and lovely service.
Excellent Indian food and friendly efficient service. Going back there again this week!
Excellent food and service
Great food and drink, good service - shame about the noise level
Fantastic as always. Great food and drink, wonderful service and atmosphere. Great value.
Great service and delicious food, highly recommended!
Fantastic food. Brilliant service. Great atmosphere. Would highly recommend
We do like our visits to Ma Goa, but they continue to be more on the infrequent side based on the exorbitant prices. It's a great place but not really value for money. Service is mixed based on which staff member you talk to. The beers are way too expensive considering they are sold as stubbies (large glasses). If it wasn't local, then I don't think we'd travel often to go there
Second time I've been to M Goa and love it. Food excellent and fabulous wine from the vintners next door. Will be back
A very welcome antidote to the regular Indian restaurant, sporting an individual style that isn't far removed from beach bar/shack. Even at 7.30 mid-week, the place was doing good business, always a good sign. The food was excellent, and certainly had a home-cooked feel about it; my shrimp and aubergine curry was very good, as was an aloo side dish. My friend's lamb-shank dish had a rich, full-on, spiciness that felt very authentic. Service was very efficient, and food arrived promptly.
On the down side, (1) please don't serve papadums with the relishes already spread on them. Who does that? (2) I had a gorgeous draft beer (Big Wave), but if it's draft (that's what it said on the menu), don't understand why's it served in 1/3 and 2/3 pint quantities. This is England, I'm old-school, and we drink pints! (3) Prices are certainly at the high end of average. Thirty-five for one main, a veggie side, some papads and 4/3 pint of beer.
Simply the best , food service music everything fantastic
First time I tried the ‘new’ Ma Goa. Excellent, I’ll be going back for more soon. Says it all.
Been here a few times and it’s the tastiest Indian food in the West!
One of the best Indian restaurants in London. Superb food, brilliant staff.
I’m Indian heritage and this is the finest Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to in London. Excellent cuisine and overall extremely nice place.
The food was just too spicy as we asked for medium spiciness. My daughter could not finish her plate, burning her throat. Furthermore, she asked without coriander and it came topped with coriander.
But the food is very good in general.
We will still eat there.
Food is wonderful! Outside tables nice to sit at on summer evening. Also fab that you can buy wine form wine sop next door if special occasion.
My absolute favourite restaurant in Putney. Great environment, great service, and most importantly, incredible food!!
Great as usual, excellent food, good lively atmosphere, good choice of drinks.
