While many Indian Restaurants now use short-cuts in their cookery, the chefs at Ma Goa are proud of the fact that each of their dishes are cooked individually, The Kitchen is very much a Family operation - Ma still cooks most mornings while Dee's three children contribute ideas and love to help the chefs!
In 2017, the Kapoor family did a complete overhaul of their successful eatery. Adding a craft beer tap wall and replacing the white table cloths with a rustic, marketplace interior, they have brought Ma Goa back to its roots: fuss-free, authentic food straight from the streets of India.

Great food, interesting menu and good atmosphere. Had a prawn curry that was outstanding!
Good atmosphere, amazing flavours and friendly staff - lives up to the hype
Best service in Putney? Probably. Delicious food, the lamb chops were perfectly pink and the finest naan bread in town! Thank you 😊
Great atmosphere, service and wonderful food. Portions were just the right size and the flavours and presentation were excellent. The staff were all friendly and attentive. I scored 4 star overall as a minor improvement would be to serve the curry sauces in a warm dish and provide hot plates as the food cooled very quickly. This wouldn’t stop us returning.
My fourth trip to this lovely restaurant, the food is always delicious and full of interesting flavours. On this occasion we had the recommended Malbec which was perfect to. Ma Goa has yet to disappoint! Well worth the the short train ride from Richmond which is a curry wasteland.
Had Mothers Day dinner here, and again a winner. We have a hard time not making it to Ma Goa when in London. Truly a special mix of flavors at great value for top notch Service Indian cuisine in Pitney.
Usual excellent experience at this long standing family run restaurant. Worth a journey to go there.
Hadn't been here for a while so the interior had changed substantially. However, the food was still excellent and there was a much better choice of beers!
Ualways enjoy dining here I only live a few doors away at 226 Upper Richmond Road so lovely and close for an eighty year old.
Ma Goa is always excellent. Food is delicious, good and spicy and never too fatty. I only wish they served normal-sized pints.
The usual exceptional quality from this longstanding family restaurant.
It never fails to deliver.
Great true Indian food, best in SW London. One to try if you want authentic
Yes. This is a lively, fun and tasty venue. Great food, friendly service and fab ambience. One of the best restaurants left in Putney!
Finally good Indian. Loved all the dishes which where really complex and had a lovely kick of spice. Definitely will be back.
Excellent food and good waiting staff, willing to offer recommendation; good family time on Sunday evening
Excellent authentic food with attentive service!
Haven't been for 2 years since moving from Putney. Thankfully, still incredible...
25 year celebration and I have been going to Ma goa for all those years, I had not been for 2 years and saw a big difference, the food and service had improved not to say it was bad before but like any business there are good and bad times. New decor though Deepak tells me this was done 2 years ago!, certainly new staff and fabulous flavours. I certainly recommend you try it, it really is a family run business who strive to deliver and they did.
The room looks different to the website picture but the food, the service and ambience are great. Good choice of dishes and value. Will go again next time I’m in Putney.
One of the best Indian meals I have ever had! The food was truly exceptional, and for a reasonable price too. Our starter was given to the table next to us by accident, but the staff were very apologetic and fixed it quickly.
The menu had a lot of Indian dishes on it I had not seen before which I really liked to see.
I would definitely return.
Outstanding restaurant with an interesting portiguese-indian menu. Venue is also great with charming decoration. We'll be back soon, for sure. Thanks Ma Goa!
Service was slow but it was Valentine’s Day so willing to let that slide. Food was tasty but unfortunately found a hair in the rice and all they did to compensate was take the rice off of the bill. As this was less than £4 and costs them hardly anything we were very disappointed that nothing else was done to improve our experience. Definitely wasn’t convinced to go back.
Genuinely surprised at how good this place is! Brilliant attentive service without being OTT
The food was incredible, especially the seafood biryani (!) and there was a lovely atmosphere. The only downside for us was the service. Although we were served quickly etc. the staff weren’t particularly friendly and we had a surprise when the bill came as we were given a £45 Pinot noir after there was some confusion over the drinks, which we ended up paying for. Apart from that, lovely evening and we weren’t rushed out of the restaurant, which was nice. Will be coming back!
Went on a Saturday night. A very busy place, people coming and going all the time and tables constantly filling up which is a good sign. The restaurant looks small but is bigger than it appears from the front. Informal and rustic setting. Good service and nice food. On the negative side I felt the portions could have been more generous and it is pricey for what you get. Goanese food made a pleasant change from the usual Indian restaurant menus so worth trying out if you're in the Putney area. It's only 5 minutes walk from the mainline station. Craft beers are available. The waitress was adamant she'd brought us the same beer as our previous order but she was wrong, they looked and tasted different. To be fair she did offer to change it but it was said with a touch of attitude so we didn't take it up. I would definitely go back but do remember to book if it's the weekend.
Really good, authentic food in an interesting and different (from most other Indian restaurants) atmosphere.
An excellent Indian-Portuguese restaurant in Putney -well worth a visit! Staff are very welcoming too and the food is great (can ask to make it slightly less tickoo!)
Ma Goa always delivers delicious, soul warming food. Best Indian restaurant for miles!
Enjoyed the food and good night out, very reasonably priced
First time, really enjoyed the experience and the food
Excellent food and fantastic setting, can't believe I've not tried it before. I will be returning and have already been recommending to friends. Love the mix of "street food" setting and approach with genuinely excellent quality food.
Fantastic meal beautiful food - great service and fun atmosphere - starters were wonderful and generous - lamb shanks were fantastic and bread was so nice.
A lovely cosy place with great South Indian food. Great service - will go back.
Excellent authentic Indian food with great service and good value for money
excellent local joint. been coming here for years. it never disappoints and the proprietor is always there. a very good sign in a restaurant. authentic goan cuisine with an imaginative twist. an invaluable place in putney
We have been to this restaurant about 4 times now and it’s always excellent!
Simply terrific. Sensational food. Lovely people. Hat off to these guys.
Went with 3 work colleagues and had a brilliant time; good food, good portion size, great staff and excellent value. The beer choice was excellent. Thanks for a great evening.
Amazing food and atmosphere every time we go for dinner here. Highly recommend!!
