We love M. Favorite place in the triangle right now. The food is delicious, ambience perfect, and we love everything about this place.
We had the Grand Omakase for a table of 4. The service was fantastic, as usual, and the food was superb. While everything was excellent, we would not mind seeing some different items in the meal as it was basically the same set of courses that we experienced 6 months ago.
Just fabulous. Still my favorite restaurant in downtown Durham
Best sushi in the triangle
Best sushi I’ve had in a non-coastal town. In particular, the quality of the sashimi stood out as exceptional.
M Sushi does everything well - even the miso soup was rich and reminiscent of a ramen-based soup. The dumplings are delectable and are a must, and Battera Zushi (pressed mackerel with foie-gras) was life changing. Thanks for a wonderful 2 year anniversary experience! Would recommend to any and all sushi lovers!
This is hands down the best sushi in the area and I have been here many, many times. The fish is amazing, very fresh, the creativity is special and the professionalism is something above most places in this town.
It is quite noisy at night and I often prefer lunch for that reason.
I will continue to come back for more excellent sushi!
We had a really nice meal. The ambience was super chill and cool. The food was absolutely amazing.
Grilled octopus was excellent as well as the sushi!
We went to celebrate our 1 year marriage anniversary. My husband has a crab allergy most places are open to substitutions but our server made it sound like it was an impossible request, therefore limiting our roll selections. So this was disappointing.
Favorite sushi restaurant in the area. Reservations are pretty much required on the weekend because it fills up fast.
Great takes on sushi
Tuesday night ...glad we made reservations...excellent atmosphere and food was amazing! Service was a bit slow...they could have used another server. We had to wait 15 min even with reservation...but they provided Sake to beg out forgiveness...it worked!
Went before seeing Aladdin at DPAC
nice spot though quite hard to find from map becausu of the poor signage
great food for a good value
Complete lack of respect for a customer who spent $250 for lunch for two. It required over forty minutes to find a parking space, which was not there fault, but because we were 1:35 getting seated, they tried to rush us through lunch and did not allow us to finish our $250 lunch. I would never go there again.
Loved it! Chill, romantic, high quality sushi and M sushi creations. Dessert was also outrageously good!
This is an upscale sushi place with prices to match. That said, the food is excellent and, to a degree, different from the more typical sushi fare. They've still got many of the 'classics', but even those are done with a level of refinement that one doesn't see every day. And the tuna is to die for!
Food was great, service was very fast (we told waiter we had theater tickets, so that was wonderful.)
Awesome as always!
Service average. Too much hype on the food. Room had very poor ventilation and was smokey from some of the food cooked. Probably will not go back.
really cool place within easy walking to DPAC. Crowded but not too crowded. Food very reasonable for the quality taste and value. Really loved the M Sushi roll and the appetizer with the crunchy rice and tuna. Wagyu beef appetizer was really nice and fun and delicious- but very expensive. Service folks were good, knowledgeable and professional. Definitely a great place to go!
M sushi has wonderful food. The wait staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful with recommendations. I will definitely return to the restaurant for another meal. My only observations were that we were in a group of six and everyone’s order came out at different times. And the restaurant itself is a little dark and with low ceilings.
Overrated. Given the hype around this place, we had high expectations. Sadly, it fell short. The food was just fine and service mediocre. The place is loud, with thumping club-like music, and the food odors are overwhelming (not in a good way). It's expensive for what you get, so overall poor value. Bummer.
Fabulous and always fresh, M Sushi is a gem of a restaurant. If I want quality, and beautifully served sushi, sashimi and more, this is where I come.
My wife and I went to M Sushi for the anniversary of our first date. Our waiter was patient and helpful, pointing out gluten-free menu items for my wife. She knew what was “safe” off the top of her head, didn’t need to ask the kitchen staff, and confirmed which items contained soy sauce only rather than tempura or other breading.
After we ordered, our waiter came to our table to congratulate us on our special night and asked if we drank champagne. We do and she promptly brought us 2 glasses on the house!
Food was amazing - we each ordered the Nigiri Omakase and I got the Salmon skin and BBQ Eel steam bun, which was crunchy and very well sauced. Only problem was we couldn’t save room for dessert!
Ambiance was good, a bit loud but not rowdy and not too dark to see your food properly. I absolutely recommend to anyone who loves sushi.
The food is impeccable!! The atmosphere is lively but you can still have an intimate conversation.
Enjoyed our evening at M Sushi, austere, darker interior, with a lively crowd. Delicious sashimi and sushi, some of the best in the area.
Best sushi in Durham. The Sashimi is absolutely delicious!
After hearing how divine M Sushi was for a long time, I had very high expectations for my first visit.
Everything I was told was true. It was spectacular.
I am not a sushi expert but I plan to become one on future visits to M Sushi.
By far the best sushi in the Triangle area. It's expensive however, so we only go on special occasions.
The freshest sushi I have ever had. Such a cool experience and location. The food stood out!
The food was great and our server was great! I would definitely recommend!
Although I am not a sushi lover, my husband wanted to try M Sushi. We weren't sure what to order, but decided to share the lite omakase (6 small plates) with an additional miso soup and added the tuna special roll. Service was fast and at least one of us enjoyed every selection. I especially liked the simple miso soup, the poke bowl, and the tuna special roll which was especially delicious. Our server recommended the
Dassai 50 sake (only $5) and it was unexpectedly light and refreshing. I definitely want to go there again and next time I'll order the sake, miso soup, and will try some of the other rolls.
Love this restaurant. Wish they had one in Chapel Hill also.
Great experience for our anniversary. The staff was very nice and the food and experience was memorable.
We had an excellent experience celebrating our anniversary at M Sushi. The grand omakaze menu was delicious and the service was top notch! We will definitely be going back.
Excellent food, interesting and of excellent quality. Service is very good and attentive. The decor is so so. The only negative is the noice level. Highly recommend for anybody who is interested in Japanese cuisine
M Sushi is incredible. It’s by far and away the best sushi I’ve had outside of Masa in NYC. The fish is so fresh and worth every penny. Such a wonderful dining experience!
