M Street Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
I’m a native Chicagoan whose been spoiled by decades of Rich Melman / Lettuce .... Restaurants in Chicago and at M Street. This restaurant is an embarrassment to all that Rich Melman has pioneered since his 20’s. Who ever is running M Street needs to go back to the school of Rich Melman...
We like this place a lot. We especially enjoy it for a Sunday brunch. The food is always quite fresh and delicious. We like the patio (much quieter than inside). Great on a sunny day. The Ahi tuna sandwich is particularly flavorful—a bit difficult to eat as it’s quite big! Refreshing cocktails as well. We’ll definitely be back.
This is our second time at this restaurant. They honored our reservation in spite of being crowded. Appreciated. Food was excellent. We had brunch and I had a Mexican fixings over home fries and it was great. My wife had eggs and sausage. She complained that the sausage was too spicy. Latte was great too. An informal hot spot.
Bad night @ M Street. Server was in another world and forgot to place the first order of food. Next thing we know, there are 9 plates on a tiny 4 top table because the apps and entrees came out at the same time. No explanation, just tried to play it off as normal. Manager finally came over and made the situation right but it just kind of all sucked this night. Too many other good places in the neighborhood.
We celebrated my friend’s birthday as well as belated Christmas gift exchange. The food was good and our waiter started out attentive but that changed when he got busy. We had to flag him down to put in our order which was frustrating. All else was fine and the restaurant did give my friend a birthday treat.
The bartender didn’t know how to make a specifc from that was requested. Instead of asking he made it, we tried It, thought It was gross, sent It back for a new one. They dumped the original drink in half into another cup and added more beer and brought it back to the table.
Tortilla chips were stale.
Seriously bad. Will never go back.
Was meeting a friend from out of town so needed to find a place not to far from LAX that took reservation for breakfast. 10Am was right before the rush but some how our server was slow and took ordered fro m 2 tables that sat down after us, and we had to finally ask for a manager to get service. Wasn't until it was time to pay and leave a tip that he started to be friendly. I order the single banana pancake , which didn't have much banana flavor, probably because they doint use ripe bananas. Candied Bacoin was good as well as the rest of the food.
The food was good, but we waited an hour for it from the time we ordered. We did see other diners come, order, eat, and leave while we waited, so not everyone had this experience. We alerted the management and they did try to help by bringing us some fruit and granola while we waited, but it didn't make up for the hour wait.
Really loved our meal. The bloody Mary and honey margarita were delicious accompaniments. I loved the option to buy 1 perfect pancake so I could have that with my eggs and bacon. Our waiter - Ezekiel Elliot - look alike was attentive and friendly. Definitely worth checking this spot out
Babou & I have been eating here ~ 5 years. M Street Kitchen has been our favorite go-to eatery whenever we come to Santa Monica or the Palisades. The food preparation has been consistent and almost always been very tasty :). Though I am not much of an imbiber, an IPA on a hot sunny day does hit the spot!
