Cold & greasy food. They ran out of some food items hours before the last seating. They called us to tell us we were late for our table. Reservation at 12:15 & phone call at 12:16 as we came to the bottom of the stairs at hostess stand. We were 3 separate families. Each family had purchased the $ 100 in promo cards. We were not allowed to use them even though we had all made the original purchase separately . We got an eye role when we asked if we could move to 3 separate tables. We gave away the 3 $20 promo cards to other tables & won’t return. Because we were a large group we had to pay 18% gratuity when there was very little we were pleased with (we usually tip 20%+) None of us will return
We enjoyed the Sunday buffet but you ran out of salad on the buffet line.
This was an awesome meal, the food is outstanding, our server, Brenda made the day even better. This was our first time at the M Street Cafe but we frequently dine upstairs at The Grill. We had a reservation for 10:30 am on 10/14 and enjoyed a leisurely brunch for six people. Or, that's what we thought until the hostess came to our table 90 minutes into our meal and told us she needed the table in 5 minutes. Well, we had paid our bill but were just enjoying a last cup of coffee and a last dessert. Nothing polite about her request, no "excuse me but. . ." no, "I am really sorry, but . . ." The odd thing is that the restaurant was not full and there was no group of people waiting to be seated. the hostess was a definite buzz-kill on what was otherwise a very nice dining experience. I struggled with the rating because everything but the hostess rated 5 stars.
Great menu and sideboard options. The Salmon Wellington is excellent.
As always we had a great lunch and love seeing our server Rebecca. M Street Cafe is our go to after St Paul Chamber Orchestra morning concerts. The food and Rebecca keeps us coming back each month.
I always enjoy eating at M Street; the buffet is notable for offering dishes that are tasty and creative. The staff is helpful and friendly. I especially like Valerie. She is professional and solicitous, my favorite server in the Twin Cities area.
This was our first trip to the M
Cafe. We went for a Sunday brunch and we're not disappointed. The wait staff was excellent, and the food was a very good value for the money. We certainly will be back.
Everything was fine. Wished there had been cookies or plain cake for dessert besides the two regular ones.
I dine here monthly and always want to sit in Valerie’s section. The food is second to none and she provides the best service in the city. I only go to M St. Cafe for lunch with clients because I know that it will be perfect.
Awesome location, awesome buffet, awesome staff, awesome setting!
The Cornflake crusted french toast with bananas was excellent. It was nice to have a waitress who truly knew her job. I haven't had that quality of service in awhile.
Breakfast was delicious. Atmosphere was great. Service was top notch. Perfect for our 5 person business meeting.
My friends always enjoy M ST Cafe for their birthday brunch and my husband and I love it here too.
The brunch is most amazing around ! Wonderful quality and delicious . Great brunch spot.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary for brunch. It was our first time. The food was delicious, the drinks were overpriced, and the ambience was not quite as classy as I expected it would be considering it was the St. Paul Hotel. The Cafe was in the basement which even though very nice felt a bit out of the way and not part of the "action".
Overall, though, it was a nice dining experience and the food was very good.
They charge for coffee ($3 per person) when you get the brunch buffet — quite vexing. Think that’s the only time I’ve ever seen that. Otherwise it was terrific.
Food was excellent but the physical space lacked ambiance and was freezing!
The staff was very friendly and very considerate. I especially appreciate that multiple beef egg benedicts were made for my party and I since we don't eat pork. And the food received was at a great value for the price. Definitely one of my favorites for a delicious breakfast
As always, Florence did her usual outstanding job of making us feel and at “home” with wonderful service and follow up!
Overall it was good. I had the salmon salad. The salmon was excellent.
The service was fairly good. Kept getting the wrong bill given to us. Then when I paid with a promotional gift card and was told I couldn’t use any remaining balance for tip, service declined. Perhaps she thought I wasn’t going to tip her? Maybe I shouldn’t have left that 28% tip in cash after all.
Some of my co-workers were in town from out of state. I picked this place because it was close to work, can sit a larger party, always have enjoyed the food when I have eaten here and we were able to carry on a conversation without having to talk over other tables. One of the out of town co-workers stated this was her new favorite place to go for lunch while in town. You don't feel rushed so you can relax and enjoy the people you are with. I have always had good servers who are knowledgeable about the menu.
M St Cafe is my very favorite brunch outing, for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthday or just because.
I brought my family here for Father's Day. I had never been and it was a wonderful experience. The waitress was absolutely lovely and very attentive even though we did the Brunch. My kids loved her and it was nice that there was no charge for kids under 4. That was very unexpected but appreciated non the less.
Nice variety of both breakfast and lunch food. Wait staff was attentive. Hot food was hot and cold food was cold, not always true at a brunch.
Celebrating with lunch at M Street for my best friend's birthday was so enjoyable, we were there for over two hours discussing all sorts of things. Because it was a birthday lunch, our wonderful server brought a chocolate brownie blessed with ice cream and two spoons. Our food was exceptionally delicious and lovely to look at. This is THE place to be for the best of the best in everything a restaurant has to offer. Both of us were very grateful.
Server was engaged, friendly and energetic. The french toast was great and the creme brulee bananas served with it were really tasty and special. Hashbrowns had a crunchy exterior that I liked, and when split with a fork, they held together. No wayward hashbrowns! Coffee had a robust flavor for a decaf, and was fresh. My guest enjoyed the Swedish Pancakes, and commended the approach, saying they were really yummy. Bring a jacket or sweater, it was overly cool which brought slight discomfort. We will be back for Sunday brunch!
Great anniversary breakfast! Absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!
Server was excellent. Food was very good. I am gluten free and things were clearly marked EXCEPT desserts. After hunting someone down I discovered there was only one gluten free dessert. For a buffet this pricey I would expect at least a couple, clearly marked choices.
CAFE M is my go-to place to feast with family and friends for celebratory Brunch/Lunch. The food stations and all its choices are beautifully presented and refreshed constantly. Desserts are fabulous and different . Every thing has great eye appeal. Yum!
The Sunday Brunch was wonderful. The Omelets were made just for you!! The Waffles were also great. Great selection
Florence was excellent as usual!
This is the second time I have been here. Both times have been lovely. This time I bit into a bad shrimp and had to spit it out. But 1 bad shrimp out of 7 isn't bad. The manager took 1 coffee and 1 orange juice off the bill for it. Not necessary but very nice of her. Waitress was new but very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely patronize your establishment again.
Always special food and great waitstaff. This is my preferred location for workplace celebrations.
The food was fine, nothing particularly creative. The service was very good. The noise level was irritating. The valet parking was excellent. They were very attentive and helpful to my 89 year old companion, which I very much appreciated
M St Cafe is my favorite St. Paul Brunch restaurant. Outstanding foods stations and presentation is perfect.
Food and variety of food excellent. Servers all pleasant and friendly. Not intrusive. Desserts decadent and delicious.
Great waffles. Omelette are excellent. The Easter brunch chocolate fountain on the dessert table was a big hit.
We had brunch at M St. on Sunday, March 25 for my mother-in-law's 75th birthday. She was over the moon! Everything about it was PERFECT. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly (not pretentious) and we all loved that it wasn't a noisy place. We could eat and talk quietly and hear each other.
The food was DIVINE.
The servers were attentive, kind, and friendly.
Don't miss this place!
Was very pleased with the online reservations. We had a time constraint and the service was such that we actually had time to spare.
My fiance has been coming here for many many years and I myself for 7 years. We have been going and we sit with Florence and she is absolutely amazing. Like family. Then the past 4 months we have been going a little less because of our choice but also the hostess is NOT the sweetest person. She approached us about our son and his friend who is 5 by the way laughing and playing a little loud and told us that we had to make them be quiet and basically sit there and not laugh a little loud. We have been there many many times with our son and yes both were a little loud however we were getting them and addressing it and then have Barb say they don't allow this.... ugh I wanted to smack her. We have never been approached like that there. Now it is where I called 4 days ago pertaing to reservations and didn't receive a call back and we go in today and they said they don't understand why and they are sorry. Needless to say when you have a poor hostess with a poor attitude and take things personally and continues with a grudge it is means for bad business. Yes we did complain but this is only 2 of a hand full of times we have had issues with getting her or questions answered from this lady. They need their old hostess/host team back. We loved them. So friendly.
