Very tasty food, attentive service, and quiet environment. The latter is a big issue for me and you rate highest on my list of places to enjoy a meal in a quiet environment when we are visiting the Twin Cities. Interesting that you also ask me to rate quietness. You are on to something there.
This is easily one of our favorite restaurants. You can choose from the daily different sideboard menu and salad bar, or order from the menu. Staff is always exceptional - great service - always friendly and accommodating. If you would like a delightful meal, in a beautiful atmosphere, along with being treated really, really, well, then have lunch here (they close @ 2)
Excellent service and food this morning. Our server, Sue, was prompt, courteous, and delightful!
Florence was great as always!!!!!!!
The M Street Cafe is always a great choice. The side board has something for every taste and the menu offer much variety. I have the Asian Chicken Salad and it was full of chicken. It was a bit spicy, but very flavorful . I'd suggest making a reservation for brunch.
Sunday brunch is superb . The choice of offerings is very nice. There is a wonderful buffet with an omelet station for omelets of choice. Other egg dishes are also available and anything else can be had from the kitchen. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The place is attractive and well laid out.
It is not quite what we were expecting, felt very rushed and was crowded, I was expecting the St. Paul Grille feel, my mistake not theirs! Our server was excellent , no issues there at all. The Food was beautifully displayed and looked amazing.. but it wasn't . The desserts were terrible. The prime rib and bacon were good , everything else was really ho hum and luck warm. I gave it a 3 star because that is truly was it is, not terrible and not great just ho hum..
This was absolutely amazing!!! Everything about this buffet was great. VERY clean. I am NOT a buffet fan but this was amazing!!
Post Christmas, and Birthday
Had a wonderful Sunday brunch! Food was delicious and our server (Sue) was the best!!!! Looking forward to next time!
The service was fantastic as always...I had the california club and gave it a 3 star only
We decided after our family dined here for Thanksgiving todo this again for Christmas. The selection of food was very widespread, all the quality was top notch, excellent service from all of the staff, and a great alternative to the massive cooking for the holiday for a small group.
The Christmas Brunch was a wonderful experience for us. The food, service, and ambiance was outstanding. This may very well become a tradition for us!
For the most part, it was just fine. However, we had to wait a half-hour before we were seated even though reservations were made in February! We did have very fine service from Steve and will ask for him next year.
It was a festive Christmas brunch with very good food both breakfast and dinner. The staff was marvelous and friendly, and the ambiance was great. The desserts were to die for. We’ll probably make it a Christmas tradition when we’re in town.
They have an incredible buffet for many holidays. We love coming for the Christmas Day buffet. So many amazing food options. The service is fantastic.
We had a wonderful holiday brunch at M Street Cafe. Servers were gracious and provided excellent service. We will go back again soon.
Our waiter Steve was professional , friendly, and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time.
Good service and good food. I thought it would be quieter but hard to hear my colleagues so not conducive for conversation.
This is a favorite for many years. Great food, friendly, sophisticated without pretense. St Small at its best.
I ordered the Turkey Burger again and I am always impressed. We appreciate the fantastic service provided by Rebecca each visit. She is the best and has become someone we look forward to seeing each month.
I am a regular correct work and a friend and I brought our kids after Disney on Ice. The staff was very respectful to adults and kids. Thank you for making this a great experience.
The berry ricotta French toast was AMAZING! Brenda did a nice job of taking care of us. Only complaint was she ran the rang the cards for the wrong tabs.
M St. Cafe is a great option for a business meal that is a bit more informal. I love the St. Paul Grill, but it can be noisy. This is a quiet and cozy atmosphere and is particularly nice during the holiday season. The service is second to none.
Thanksgiving dinner was excellent - all the iconic vegetables, turkey & ham, cornbread stuffing, cranberries... and the desserts! Everything was delicious. A special thanks to the turkey/ham carvers who went out of the norm to make guest feel like they were each special and to Valerie, our friend and long time favorite face at any St Paul Hotel (Main Street Cafe) functions.
We will be back.
This was the 3rd Thanksgiving in a row spent at this establishment. The experience for 2018 was disappointing. I will not make reservations for Thanksgiving going forward. Even after having reservations we waited over 30 minutes to be seated and the service was horrible. The food was the same stuff which was okay but it would have been a little better if the temperature of the food was hotter.
We'll be back for the Thanksgiving brunch next year. Need I say more?
Good food in the buffet. Very crowded and loud. Not a romantic meal but very nice
Wonderful place to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner! We are grateful to all the staff there for a wonderful meal and experience!!
Our family tried the M Street Cafe for the Thanksgiving buffet for the first time. Every aspect was outstanding. The food was delicious, staff was friendly, plenty of room, low noise level. We’ve given you rave reviews to our friends and other family members who couldn’t join us. We’ll be back next year.
Great food and service. Wonderful place to have a quick lunch
Fine prelude to my group’s afternoon of entertainment (I.e., meal and show).
Sunday brunch here is THE BEST! The malted waffles are ridiculously delightful, and the assortment of buffet choices draws us back every time we are in the cities on a Sunday. The servers are fantastic, too, making the whole experience worth every penny!
Service was terrible - the to go order sauce spilt as the lid wasn’t on tight and they didn’t validate our parking. They wouldn’t honor (2) gift cards and split the bill when the gift card expires tomorrow. Customer service was terrible. The waitress touched my shoulder and I don’t like people I don’t know touching me. Highly inappropriate. The hostess had a short red dress on that was tight and she kept pulling it down in the hostess area behind the hostess station.
Nearly all the food was empty and never really was refilled. We had to keep going back to see if more was put out only to see that the 4 new pieces of what ever they put out were already taken. Finally got to eat my salad for dessert which was great because they were out of dessert. We had several plates on our table because we could never seem to be able to get more than 1 item at a time. Our server never cleared our dirty dishes so we also had that mess. We did get some prime rib but they should have said it was lunch meat because it was carved so thin. All the staff seem to be very frazzled due to bring short staffed. Very sad they have this great reputation because it is not deserved.
My girlfriend and I really liked this restaurant! It is in the basement of the Saint Paul hotel. Any and everything at the Saint Paul hotel is amazing! This brunch was no exception. I had amazing crab cakes. My biggest complaint is how much I left on my plate because it was so good I didn't want to leave any. My actual complaint is the coffee was not the greatest but with a little cream who cares. The service is wonderful and excellent. I was surprised how quiet the restaurant was. It was really full when we went there and we didn't have to talk above a normal speaking voice which was really nice!
The only issue was that I modified the reservation through Open Table to an earlier time. The restaurant had a wait time and did not have the updated time, which was made the prior day. They were gracious enough to seat us anyway, even with a wait list.
This is the second time where modifications were not received by the restaurant. If you make a change, don't do it through Open Table--call.
Brunch on Sunday in October at the M-Street was excellent. The St. Paul hotel always does everything proper. Coat room offered, Sunday paper, great coffee, nice server, breakfast options, extensive buffet. The atmosphere is really nice too. The buffet had a quality salad bar, shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon, cooked salmon, prime rib carved, eggs bene, bacon, omelet station..tons more. The dessert table was huge and lots of gluten free options including cupcakes and flourless torte. The preparation and freshness of the food was great too (not just a lot of 'stuff' on the buffet) $25 for buffet and $13-17 for single entrees. Our server attended the table and the entree my wife had came out very quickly. Buffet is self serve except omelet and carving station.
Great value on quality food and service.
Always great food and wonderful service provided by our favorite server Rebecca.
Cold & greasy food. They ran out of some food items hours before the last seating. They called us to tell us we were late for our table. Reservation at 12:15 & phone call at 12:16 as we came to the bottom of the stairs at hostess stand. We were 3 separate families. Each family had purchased the $ 100 in promo cards. We were not allowed to use them even though we had all made the original purchase separately . We got an eye role when we asked if we could move to 3 separate tables. We gave away the 3 $20 promo cards to other tables & won’t return. Because we were a large group we had to pay 18% gratuity when there was very little we were pleased with (we usually tip 20%+) None of us will return
