M Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Chose M to celebrate my birthday. Made 2 reservations for total of 14 ppl at 730pm. Upon arrival 715pm alerted hostess my party size decreased to 11, hoping they could accommodate seating us close together. Hostess response was frustration rather than a smile/can do attitude. Waited 1hr to be seated, waited exactly 1hr more for appetizers. It was nearly 10pm before we asked to speak to a manager. She was unapologetic, defensive, & frankly rude. When we got our food the staff was putting chairs on the tables closing up shop. Totally ruined my 40th birthday celebration. Food was great but we starved to death waiting for it. The offered a dessert tray but by then everyone was upset and ready to go. I expected so much more from a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. Such a pricey meal & made to feel like trash.
We had not been to M for a few years but a good friend told me about a recent good food experience there. M is the most expensive restaurant in Columbus, I do not understand why, but it certainly is. The drinks are pricey, the wine list very pricy and the entrees as well. Interestingly, the appetizers and dessert are not. Be prepared for a leisurely meal. Normal dining time there is around 2 hours and it really drags after a while. Some folks like that, I prefer things to move a wee bit more quickly. My wife had the lobster/salmon special ($62!) and loved it. I had the duck, asked for it medium, and it was all but quacking when it arrived. Always a nice room, but the music was all over the place, trying too hard to be hip, and a touch loud as well. A good news, bad news situation.
My friend recommended I take the family here for a nice dinner over Christmas break and I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised.
Driving up to the M, we passed through some odd neighborhoods and pulled up to what looked like luxury condo buildings. Seemed the only option for parking was valet, and luckily it was only $7.
Entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a nice young hostess who took our coats. Immediately, I felt like I was in a fun restaurant in Vegas. Dark ambiance with classy lighting, soft house music in the background, well dressed young people at the bar having cocktails.
We were welcomed by a very nice woman who first took our drink orders. Do yourself a favor and get one of their signature cocktails (Black Orchid tasted like a fruit juice). We started with a couple appetizers; the Hamachi and Fois were both on point. For entrees, we ordered the Salmon & Lobster w/ Risotto (by far my favorite), the Chilean Sea Bass (a bit salty), the Steak in a Bowl (which came highly recommended. I felt the steak was a tad bit overdone but the concept was cool), and the Chicken (a bit dry). For a side, we shared the Lobster Mashed Potatoes which were terrific. Overall, I’d give the food 4 stars, some dishes outshining others.
We finished with the Triple Layer Chocolate cake (which was to die for) and the Lemon Creme Brûlée (also very tasty).
The service was a bit slow at times, but the warmth and friendliness from our server was on point.
Honestly, probably a top 3 dining experience in Columbus for me, and I’ll definitely be coming again next Christmas.
even for new year’s eve, we were disappointed. seemed like they crammed an extra table into the space that left a really tight squeeze. The restaurant was freezing, granted its freezing outside but turn up the heat! And the worst part was that it absolutely took forever to receive our entree. At least 45 minutes between salad and entree. Restaurant acknowledged that they dropped the ball and comped one of the entrees but I could care less about paying or a free steak....all about the experience and a memorable nye with my wife. restaurant needs to stay focused on the experience and not maximizing revenue even on NYE...
My husband and I went to M for our 1 year anniversary. Everything was wonderful from the food, atmosphere, and service. We got a free dessert for our anniversary and were between two choices so our waistress gave us both on the house. Will definitely be back!
As always, this resturant, is what fine dinning should be. The food, decor and ambiance are superb. I dine with people I like and I enjoy being able to converse without having to raise my voice.
The service is fine but the comments from the waitress are a bit too scripted. We couldn't possibly have chosen all her favorites.
M continues to be my favorite resturant in town.
The food was amazing, the service however was lacking. We waited 10-15 minutes for our bottle of wine. During the actual dinner service our server was somewhat attentive, though not prompt in clearing our plates. Once we finished, we sat with empty plates waiting for at least 15-20 minutes before our server even returned to check on us. While impressed with the food, we left without coffee or dessert even though we had intended to order due to the disappointing service. Would give it another chance based solely on the delicious food.
The service by Deborah (Debbie) was impeccable. The settings was perfect to celebrate my Mother's 90th Birthday!
The food and special catering was something you usually can only dream about.
It was definitely one of the best dining experience we have enjoyed.
In conclusion, the entire staff from valet to coat check and everything in between was definitely 5-Star. We felt like royalty!
Had our one year anniversary dinner here! Everything was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is beautiful and unique. The hosts were very welcoming and offered a coat check which was a nice feature. We were seated at a nice private round booth in the corner which was very romantic and perfect for our anniversary.
Our server was great. I love French wines and most places don't have a good list, but I was very happy to see a wide variety of choices for bottles. Our server was very knowledgeable about wines as well and helped to pick out something new we hadn't tried before. The food was delicious. We had multiple courses and never felt rushed with plenty of time to finish and enjoy each plate. I had the lamb which is my favorite and was very happy. My boyfriend had the Filet and was also very happy. Dessert was wonderful and they made sure to put a congratulations small flag on them honoring our anniversary. We would definitely choose M for a nice dinner out again. No complaints or suggestions, everything was perfect!
The restaurant was just ok, haven’t dined there for about 5 years and the place looks the same , getting tired and dated. We were celebrating my birthday and my daughter in law birthday. We assumed dessert was on them since all other Cameron Mitchell restaurant comp a birthday dessert. We ordered 2 and husband mentions on the way home we were charged for both. With all the great restaurants in Columbus area to choose from, will not return to M
