M Restaurant at the Morris House Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful night at the M Restaurant The Host arrange to have flowers delivered at the table and we had the best seat outside. I had called ahead and explained it was for my wife's birthday. From the minute we got there to the minute we left we had a wonderful time. The mixed drinks were outstanding specifically the grilled peach old fashioned. We are "TheBarReview" and we highly recommend the M Restaurant. Call ahead for special requests... they certainly took care of all of our needs.
M is fantastic and I am sorry we had not been there for some time. It is the nicest outdoor dining venue in the city. The garden is quiet, so0histicated , peaceful and oh so pleasant. The food was fantastic. Creative, tasty, well prepared. The dining pace was delightful. The menu is varied, interesting combinations but sufficient variety to please most. We are already planning our next visit.
Wow,wow, wow! I'm impressed beyond words by my overall experience at the M Restaurant. The food, service and ambiance was amazing.
I dined at M Restaurant this past Saturday for a date night and was pleasantly surprised when I was offered the nightly special of "Salmon and Creamy Leeks" . My boyfriend and I also tried a few appetizers and sides and were pleased by both the quality and quantity.
All entire restaurant staff was attentive was attentive, gracious and very friendly especially our server, Steve, and Lowell, restaurant manager. I always have great experiences at the M and look forward to my next visit there!
We had a wonderful meal at M and look forward to returning in early fall. Unfortunately, the recent heat wave kept us from dining in the exquisite garden. Although the restaurant is lovely, the 5-star ambience is in the garden. Everything was delicious, portions were generous, and the service was pleasantly attentive without being pretentious. Our party of four started with M specialty cocktails, then shared the red quinoa appetizer and two sides ( brussel sprouts and mixed mushrooms) to go along with our entrees. My tuna was perfectly seasoned, but just a tad more done than I like. However, a friend who ordered the tuna thought is was done just right. So, when I go back I will be sure to specify how I like my tuna. We finished with two desserts--the lemon ice box pie and coffee mousse parfait--both amazing and presented with candles for my husband's birthday celebration. All agreed it was a great meal and we appreciated the quiet room that let us enjoy good conversation with old friends.
The outdoor garden where we were seated was beautiful. The food was really good and the service was excellent. Only negative was the mosquitos outside - I got quite a few bites. However when I finally asked the host if they had any spray, they did have some I could use. The table next to us asked to use it after I was done, so I was not the only one getting bit.
The ambiance of the restaurant was elegant yet comfortable. The staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Service was prompt and quite professional. We chose "M" because we had a vegan in the group and wanted to make certain that she had adequate options. The food was creatively prepared and beautifully portrayed. The Heirloom Tomato appetizer was wonderful with unusual tastes abundant and the Chilled Apple Pineapple Cucumber Soup was outstanding! I was told that the Chicken Breast Entree was excellent as was the Sesame Seared Tuna Steak. The Brussels Sprout side dish was very good and was a noteworthy part of the meal.
Friends and I dined at M prior to attending the theater. They have lovely garden seating to take advantage of dining el fresco on a nice summer evening. The hand crafted cocktails were interesting, and the pre-fix theater menu was very nice. Love the proximity to the Walnut Street Theater.
Menu has become too spicy. I have dietary restrictions and had to request the preparation of a "safe" dinner from the kitchen. For what I received plain chicken, asparagus and plain lettuce salad, the food was expensive. We will probably not return to M, although it is convenient to WST.
I was having surgery at Wills Eye Hospital and wanted to eat nearby and do something special the evening before. Wednesday is free Jazz night outside. Carol Moog (harmonica) and Chicago Carl (keyboard) were wonderful! The food was delicious. I have never eaten a better pork chop! All the dishes served to us were scrumptious!! Halibut, chicken wings, mozzarella bites, and mushroons were beautiful too.
I had special dietary restrictions, that the chef kindly allowed (gluten free, not spicy, no mangos). The servers were kind, courteous, and accommodating. I rarely write reviews, but I had such a good time, it took away the worry for a few hours. The outdoor venue was a cool garden of eden after a day if sweltering heat and travel to Philly. I highly recommend this restaurant and these musicians.
We had s delightful dining experience. This was our first visit to M. There were 4 out of us and we ordered 4 appetizers to share and we each tasted the others entrees. Everything was delicious, fresh and homemade (gnocchi was superb). Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Lovely place with comfortable outdoor gardein (though the night that I was there the outdoor garden was open for cocktails, only, as they had a small wedding reception in the garden. Live jazz on Wednesday and Friday evenings. Great spot for outdoor dining in good weather with good happy hour food and drinks. Would recommend for after or before theatre (Walnut Street theatre is only a few minutes away on foot.) Food and service are very good with an inventive contemporary cuisine menu.
Like it's attached sister Hotel, this was a serendipitous discovery...excellent from top to bottom, with attentive, able service to match...this was part of a 10th Anniversary celebration, and perfect for that...but we'll be making certain to return next time we're in Philly...
Room was surprising empty for a Sunday evening, service was knowledgable and attentive .the patio looked quite nice but a bit chilly so we passed for an inside table. Food was good but the sauce on the mussels/clams entree a bit disappointing, however, overall a very enjoyable dining experience.
Service is disjointed Seats at outdoor bar for 2's only. We had 4 people. Had to stand and wait for permission to sit at table for four at outside "dinner" table. Many tables were available. Drink waiter never came back to take our happy hour appetizer order.
Very disappointed. Food was slightly above average but service was terrible. Went there for Mother's Day Brunch. Had at least 3 different servers and still had poor service. Was not even asked if we would want coffee and/or dessert. Called the day before requesting earlier seating and was told none available. When we arrived 30 minutes early the restaurant was half empty. They really need to get their service together.
3:30 reservations on Easter which weren't really necessary as the place was almost empty. Service was slow considering we were the only party in the room most of the time. Food was OK although portions were small for the price. Good service would have made up for that in a big way but unfortunately was lacking. After a long wait the check was presented and we were never even asked if we wanted another drink or dessert!! Seriously??
My parents were in town, and I booked a reservation for Easter brunch. The dining room had a nice ambiance., but would have been better without the chef constantly yelling things to her team. Her pep talks were entertaining I might add. The waitress was attentive and kind. I ordered French toast and my father ordered an omelette, neither of which were anything special, not bad, just average. However, when my mother cut into her pancakes they were filled with uncooked oozing batter. The staff whisked them away and promised to make them right. The sausage that she ordered was so dry and over cooked it could have been used as hockey pucks. When the pancakes returned, they were cooked all the way through, but bland and tasteless. There was a reduction in our bill to compensate. But in a city filled with many fabulous restaurants, I certainly expected more and will not likely return to try another meal.
Second time at M and just as good as the first. Sat outside this time and enjoyed the beautiful weather and creative cocktails. Menu is creative and original and sourced from local farms. Perfect place to impress on a date or special occasion. Service is fast without being rushed and attentive without being overbearing. A+ establishment!
Booked earlier in the day and got placed across the courtyard in a side room, so felt slightly isolated in over flow room. Seared squid octopus for starter was burnt which left smokey taste on the palette for main course. Open fire next to table was comforting as was the classical music emanating from cupboard although disc stopped half way through the meal.
