Ordered another drink but oops she forgot and it took 15 minutes to get. She was busy setting up new tables. Husband ordered a drink oops took another 15 minutes. Not impressed. Will not go back tell people about. Horrible service and foid was so so. Expected ddo much more.

We went to M to take advantage of Restaurant week for a pre-theater dinner. It's a great location when going to the Walnut Street Theater. The food was well-prepared and the service was excellent. I'd passed by the restaurant for years and I'm glad I finally went. I would absolutely go again.

New chef left his skills at Noord or didn’t teach his new kitchen staff how to cook quality food. Over cooked, salt was the only thing to try to create flavor, and my rabbit appetizer tasted like tuna fish from a can. I will just stay at Noord.

We've been to M Restaurant many times and choose it as something new to try for New Years Eve. It worked out quite well as it was a nice quiet dinner, which we were seeking. I'd recommend it as a great place for simply a drink at the bar or dining in any of the dining rooms. The menu was worth the value with unique items tailored for the New Year.

The atmosphere was terrific and cocktails were perfect. The appetizers got mixed reviews but mine was outstanding. The main courses were somewhat disappointing. The service was very good. I'd try it again but the other members of my party probably wouldn't.

Back to Life. This neighborhood gem is back and hopefully to stay. We had dined here frequently years ago but found each time we visited the service and food just was not up to standards. Being fans of Joncarl Lachman we were excited to learn he was now executive chef. In its prime the atmosphere at M was quiet / stuffy and for the mature neighborhood folks. It needed to change as the neighborhood did. I think that change is finally starting. Lachman brings his talents from the kitchen and the front of the house with him. His great suçesss from NOORD will hopefully follow him to M. What a great dining experience last evening. Service and food was outstanding. Lachmans personality and talents are a much needed improvement and we will be sure to become regulars once again.

Dinner for two on a holiday weeknight. Had not been to M for a number of years. Place is still nice but kind of drab looking inside, BUT the food and wine is as good as any you will find anywhere else in the City. Nice surprise compared to my last meal there. There were so many delicious options on the menu! I cannot wait to go back.

Sometimes I just want to go somewhere where I can feel at home and be welcomed every time I return to a city. That is what M is for me; when I come in town for business and need to unwind with friendly staff, M is my go-to bar. It is a sweet space with a cozy setting surrounded by hundreds of photos and artwork on the walls that the owner's have collected. I love their three for $15 bar specials that basically amounts to a nice meal for me, which is just right to sample the specials of the day. Their sautéed Brussel sprouts with raisins, the honey wings and the cod fritters with yogurt cream are my favorites. Add to that a wonderful HH white, and I am always set for the night! The staff are wonderful- always pleasant, attentive and happy to please. My friends in Philly love to meet me here, and I love showing off the place to them! Cheers to the new chef and the staff for a job well done from A-Z.

The original "M" was a favorite - lovely warm nights in the courtyard, cozy dark winter nights in the dining room. The food was consistent and delicious. Then a new chef came and the quality deteriorated. We were encouraged by the recent hiring of the chef from Noord - a restaurant we have liked on several occasions, but our recent experience was not a positive one. I have never sent a dish back - but I did at this visit. The fish was so over-salted that it felt like someone had inadvertently dumped the shaker all over the plate. While the restaurant handled the situation well and immediately replaced it with another dish, it was very disappointing. Perhaps most distressing was that there was no dish that was memorable - the other dishes were fine, but it's not what we expected and the price made "fine" even less acceptable.

Party of four. We were eating before a show at the Walnut Street Theatre and celebrating my mother's 70th. They only had a pre fixe menu available. The bread for the table was odd. Almost no flavor and a strange texture with a butter that had carrots in it. Butter and carrots don't stay together well and are just strange. The leek soup was good. The cod entree was so salty as to be virtually inedible. Two people had it and it was the same for both. When we mentioned it to the manager who checked in they removed our wine from the bill as compensation and said they told the chef. The chocolate mousse desert was quite good but the apple cake was tasteless and dry. We have been here before and like the ambiance but this is the second disappointing meal in a row so we will not be going back. The prices for the pre fixe menus were reasonable ($35-45 depending upon the choice) but not when several items were so poorly executed.

Rarely do I ever send food back to the kitchen - almost never - but I had to. My local rainbow trout was sauced to such a salty extreme I couldn't eat it. The waiter said he and the kitchen tasted it and agreed. My companion’s dinner was salty too thougg not inedible. Cocktails were creative and fun. The service was earnest if a bit pushy - it was a quiet evening and I think our server knew from the moment of our arrival he needed us to move it! It’s a lovely room, but the food and seevice don’t live up to the decor.

So good! Second time here since Joncarl Lachmann (Noord, The Dutch) took over and it was even better. The place was jammed and the courtyard was in total holiday party mode. Great tuna tartare and seafood pot pie. Will be back numerous times.

Great anniversary dinner! Very professional waitstaff and complimentary champagne for our celebration. Food we had was all good - my only comment many of the dishes on the menu had beets (not my favorite) as a part of the meal . Possibly one dish could be offered which is more
generally acceptable to the masses - not everyone in a group is an adventurous eater. We'll be back especially to be outside in the courtyard.

Very nice little restaurant. It's a bit hidden away with no clear advertisement of it's presence. But the ambiance inside is very nice and the menu is nice and appears to be seasonal. The food was all good as were the beverages. The waiters were knowledgeable and the chef even came out to talk about modifications he made for dietary restrictions and to see how the food was. Great service. Just be aware that the bill will likely be at least $100 excluding tip.

Now that johncarl chef-owner of noord / Dutch has taken over, the food quality increased one thousand percent!
I also want to add that this place is one of the few places that doesn't triple/quadruple their bottle of wine prices..........great price value.
The service could be a bit tighter, otherwise I would come back in a second........... I also noticed a really cool looking bar snack menu!!

A special annual family dinner, a mother treating her sons to a lovely dinner. We were not disappointed, it was all delicious. We had a bit of the whole menu offered, the specials, appetizers, the trout and the beef and THE DESSERTS. The Happy Hour is cozy and not too loud and especially pleasant with the live music. Looking forward to other visits and then the garden in the Spring.

Where to begin...this restaurant has a new team on board and all of a sudden things are different, and for the better!! Service was always a bit iffy in the past and this time everything was perfect. I love their cozy bar, and to listen to jazz in the background was an added plus on a lovely Wednesday night. The dining room is medium sized, and is a very pretty setting to dine in. I loved my leek and potato soup, and my husband had a light, delicious tuna tartare- his favorite. The smoked pheasant thighs were perfectly cooked, and the fishmonger stew was chock a block full of sumptuous seafood. Joncarl and Aila of Noord are the new chefs, and with their extended Philadelphia following and experience have brought M into a new spotlight with a more approachable, relaxed menu. I am looking forward to coming when it will be decorated for the holidays as they have always been one of THE prettiest places in the city to dine during the Christmas season. Bravo to all for an excellent experience from A-Z. We will be back soon!

What a difference! A number of years we dined at M and thought it is OK. After moving out of the immediate neighborhood, we didn't much think about it. However, with Joncarl Lachman from Noord taking over as chef, we decided to give it a look again. Oh my, what a difference. Suddenly, this feels like it could become an important restaurant. The new menu is creative and intriguing. The pot pie alone is reason to go. The pheasant was simply superb and the friend who had the short ribs thought they were as good as he's ever had. In short, this place is really on the upswing. Don't miss it!!!

AND it is a gem in it's outdoor dining experience, it's hard to find patio dining that is not next to parked cars in the city. We'll be back!

Overall lovely experience. New Wxec Chef personally delivered our Entrees. Good, slightly awkward service, very nice relaxed staff.
Wine-by-the-Glass pours a bit meagre. Recorded Bar music piped into dining room— not good for ambiance & Too loud.
All dishes were very good to excellent, inventive yet straight-forward and fairly priced. Decor was a bit sparse. But a great place: will definitely return.

The evening of our visit was appartently the first night for the chef and his team. It was a prix fixe menu to accommodate theater goers and the meal took much longer than it should have.
The dinner was a disappointment and, even though the chef came out to apologize, it didn't make it any better. My "classic roast beef" was barely palatable.
